Almost every time a gun is used in a homicide, a chorus of special interests calls for gun control. These calls happened after the shootings at University of Texas in 1966 and in Columbine, Colo., in 1999 and more recently at Virginia Tech University where a student rampaged through the campus killing 33.
There was an organized outcry at Virginia Tech for banning guns. This was farcical since Virginia Tech, like most college campuses, was already a gun-free zone.
On March 22, a prison parolee and felon, 26-year-old Lovelle Mixon, shot and killed four police officers in Oakland, Calif. The officers were upstanding citizens leaving behind families. The incident was predictably followed by a call for banning guns. Even if California had total gun control laws, it would not have prevented the killing of the four officers. Felons already are banned from acquiring weapons.
Felons are antisocial beings who do not follow laws. Not surprisingly, when they want a gun they obtain it illegally. Criminals use the underworld, not legitimate businesses to obtain guns. The Cato Institute has noted that since 1978, when the Washington, D.C., gun ban went into effect, violent crimes rose 55 percent. The same phenomenon has been reported in Australia in 1996, in England in 1997 and the Canadian 2003 gun bans. Preventing citizens from having guns increased violent incidents.

The U.S. Constitution has few friends on the right or the left.
During the first 8 years of the century the Republicans mercilessly assaulted civil liberties. The brownshirt Bush regime ignored the protections provided by Habeas Corpus. They spied on American citizens without warrents. They violated the first ammendment. They elevated decisions of the president above the statutory law and international law. They claimed the power to withhold information from the peoples representatives in Congress and they asserted, and behaved as if, they were unaccountable to the people, congress, and the federal courts. The executive branch claimed the power to ignore congressional subpoenas. Republicans regarded bush as a stuart king unaccountable to law.
The bush brownshirt regime revealed itself as lawless, the worst criminal organizations in American history.
Now we have the democrats, and the assualt on civil liberties continues. Obama doesn't want to hold Bush accountable for his crimes and violations of the constitution because Obama wants to retain the powers that Bush asserted. Even the practice of kidnapping people and transporting them to foreign countries to be tortured has been retained by Obama
The civil liberties that Bush stole from us are now in Obamas pocketThe U.S. Constitution has few friends on the right or the left.

My name is Becca Ray Dylan, and I thought you might want to check out my slideshow featuring Barack Obama and Coldplay, with a twist. I found a new organization called Heads of Humanity, the Hemp Education and Decriminalization Society, which I am describing as a revolutionary new marijuana movement.
Obama is going to be the next great human rights champ, and I'm hoping to get this video out to every young or undecided voter before November 4, 2008.
Look me up on My Space, member name Becca Ray Dylan. Time is of the essence!
Thank you.
VOTE! Go Obama!

Barack Obama will be the next president, and the next great human rights champ. He will lead America into a new era of social evolution. In short, the world will be a nicer place to live in.
I'm Becca Ray Dylan, and I founded a new organization called HEADS of Humanity, the Hemp Education and Decriminalization Society. I'm hoping all young or undecided voters, along with the many members of the counterculture, will have a chance to see my video before November 4, 2008.
There will never be a politician to actively support pro-pot legislation until HEADS come together and make some noise. I'm not suggesting Obama is in favor of marijuana legislation, but he will help bring about a political and social environment conducive to this revolutionary new marijuana movement.
VOTE! Go Obama!

“The general principles of any study you may learn by books at home; but the detail, the colour, the tone, the air, the life which makes it live in us, you must catch all these from those in whom it lives already.”
— John Henry Cardinal Newman
“No one can find a safe way out for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. Therefore everyone, in his own interests, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle. None can stand aside with unconcern; the interests of everyone hang on the result.”
— Ludwig von Mises
The Future of Freedom Foundation is once again holding one of the most important conferences in the history of the libertarian movement, “Restoring the Republic 2008: Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties.” This conference is a follow-up to the fantastic conference “Restoring the Republic: Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties” that we held last year. (To order DVDs or CDs from our 2007 conference, click here.)
The conference will be held on June 6-8, 2008, from Friday morning through Sunday evening. It will feature some of the finest, most principled speakers in the country on the two burning issues of our time — foreign policy and civil liberties. This landmark conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia. Reston is one of the nicest areas of northern Virginia and, in fact, was named one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live by Money magazine.
For the past several decades, U.S. foreign policy has included support of dictatorial regimes, brutal sanctions and embargoes, invasions and occupations, terrorist “blowback” against the United States, severe assaults on civil liberties and the Bill of Rights, suspension of habeas corpus, torture and “rendition” of detainees, indefinite detentions, and kangaroo military tribunals.
With ever-growing debacles in U.S. foreign policy and related monetary crises, there has never been a better time to come together to share ideas on restoring the limited-government, constitutional republic envisioned by our Founding Fathers. It is to that end that we are hosting this exciting and important conference. When you review our list of 20 speakers — libertarians, liberals, and conservatives — you will see that this is going to be one exciting intellectual experience you are not going to want to miss. To get a sense of how great this conference is going to be, take a look at the testimonials we received from attendees at last year's conference: Testimonials.
Not only will you have the opportunity to listen to speeches by some of the greatest speakers on foreign policy and civil liberties, you will also have the opportunity to mingle with them as well as with conference participants from all over the country who share the same concern about the future direction of our nation and the same passionate commitment to our fundamental rights and freedoms.
Each day, the conference schedule will enable the participants to listen to all the speeches of all the speakers. Each speech will range from 45 minutes to one hour.
