If you haven't seen Inofuiwell's posting "A rainbow Coalition of people Everywhere are coming together in LOVE to prevent same sex marriage?," you should take a look at the original video contained therein.
The National Organization for Marriage put up a lot of money and hired actors to portray terrified Americans scared that all of their liberties will be taken away by the evils of gay marriage.
Unfortunately, for them, the Human Rights Campaign, the leading gay and lesbian rights group in this country, not only got ahold of their video, but it, also, acquired the tapes of the auditions.
Needless to say, all the creative folks at YouTube have had a field day with this one.
This is one of the best parodies. Enjoy! If you haven't seen Inofuiwell's posting "A rainbow Coalition of people... more

John McCain's top adviser, Steve Schmidt, says it is time for the Republicans to jump on board with civil rights and marriage equality.
In his first public appearance since losing to the Obama campaign, Schmidt to the Log Cabin Republicans at their conference on Friday.
Schmidt said Republicans need to endorse civil unions and stop using the Bible as rationale for gay-marriage opposition.
"If you put public policy issues to a religious test, you risk becoming a religious party," he said. "And in a free country a political party cannot be viable in the long-term if it is seen as a sectarian party."
Even though Schmidt said he doesn't expect the GOP to have a change of heart any time soon, he supports gay marriage. His sister is out as a lesbian.

The Department of Homeland Security will never monitor ideology or political beliefs, the head of the agency said Wednesday, responding to criticism of a recent report on right-wing extremist groups.
"Let me be very clear: We monitor the risks of violent extremism taking root here in the United States," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a written statement.
"We don't have the luxury of focusing our efforts on one group; we must protect the country from terrorism whether foreign or homegrown and regardless of the ideology that motivates its violence."
The report, "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," said right-wing extremist groups may be using the recession and the election of the nation's first African-American president to recruit members.
The report, which was prepared in coordination with the FBI, was published last week. It was distributed to federal, state and local law enforcement officials. Mainstream media picked up the story after it was reported by conservative bloggers. The Department of Homeland Security will never monitor ideology or political beliefs,... more

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.
A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.
"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says.

Where to even start.
This is going to be a rant, but I encourage you all to read it and spread it along. I understand that I'm preaching to the choir but this should be a marketplace of ideas that we can share in our fight against the right.
Anyway, here we go.
Right-wingers are enitrely hypocritical. Allow me to explain. They love the phrase "limited government". We all know this is shit. We can look at the government under George W Bush and see that the Federal Gov't expanded it's power exponentially with no outrage from the right.
What right-wingers actually mean when they say "limited government" is "selective government". They love big gov't as long is it does what they want.
Ask a right winger you know the following things and the conversation is sure to sound like this:
You: So, you believe in limited government and keeping the gov't out of people's lives?
RW: Yes!
You: OK Great! So I can get stoned today! I've been holding on to this joint for awhile and I can't wait to get home and smoke it!
RW: Well, no. No, that's illegal.
You: Um, ok. So I have a gay friend and he wants to marry his boyfriend, is that OK?
RW: No, no, not that either. We want the government to make that illegal. In fact, we want it to be put into the constitution that only a man and woman can get married.
You: Ok, well, that doesn't sound like you support limited government, but Ok. So can my girlfriend choose to get an abortion if she gets pregnant?
RW: No, no way! That should be illegal too.
So the right-wingers want the government to tell me what state of mind I can be in! And they want to tell me who I can and can't marry! And they want to tell my girlfriend or wife and other women that they can't get abortions! How is that "limited government" or "keeping government out of people's lives"? It's horse shit! It's a ridiculous catchphrase.
You know, if someone talks about supporting national healthcare, or increasing benefits for people, or giving people homes and jobs, because it's for the good of society and it's good for the country, what does a right winger do? Goes for the guns and screams "SOCIALISM!!!!"
They love to talk about how there is no such thing as "for the good of society". Margaret Thatcher even said "there is no such thing as society".
What a crock!
And what magically appears whenever you ask a right winger about gay marriage, abortion, national healthcare, etc? Society!!! They think gay marriage will destroy society! They think abortion will cause the collapse of families and society! They say drugs will cause the collapse of society!!
So it's just hypocritical nonsense. They DO NOT support limited government and don't let them get away with it, either! They support selective government, invading people's lives and telling them what to do whenever they feel something is bad for the "society" that they don't believe exists!
So the next time you hear some idiot right winger talking about "limited government", ask them if drugs should be legal along with gay marriage and abortion. After all, you want the government out of people's lives too!
:)Where to even start.
This is going to be a rant, but I encourage you all to read it... more

So you say you want a job in the Obama Administration? Plan on filling out the 7-page Obama Questionnaire complete with 63 topics. Only those with no controversial or questionable past need apply.
To some, maybe this is a job of a lifetime. To others, the Obama Job Application seems quite incredulous. A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of The One to those who are seeking a cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most invasive extensive application ever.
The Obama questionnaire includes 63 topics requesting personal and professional records, some covering applicants’ spouses and grown children as well. Only the smallest details are excluded like traffic tickets that carry fines of less than $50. Applicants are asked whether they or anyone in their family owns a gun. Applicants must include any e-mail that might embarrass The One, along with any blog posts and links to their Facebook or MySpace pages. Really.
In the Obama job application, applicants are asked to “please list all aliases or ‘handles’ you have used to communicate on the Internet.” So no internet discretions for Obama:
“If you have ever sent an electronic communication, including but, not limited to an email, text message or instant message that could suggest a conflict of interest or be a possible source of embarrassment to you, your family, or the president-elect if it were made public, please describe.”
Question #45 asks about ‘police or government investigations,’ and not just focused on the applicant, but also their spouse and any child over 21 years old. In fact, the word ’spouse’ appears 34 times in the job application.
There are also questions about friends, guns, taxes, property and an open invitation to admit anything else that could stir up a controversy that could even remotely make The One look bad.
It has been widely known that the vetting process for executive branch jobs has been an arduous one for decades - with each incoming administration making it a wee bit more difficult then the last. But The One seems to have elevated the vetting of applicants to a whole new level - reportedly a reflection of his campaign promises against rabid lobbying and the back-scratching, self-serving ways of Washington.
So remember: anyone who wants one of the many jobs in The One’s administration had better be ready to lay bare their most closely-guarded secrets. The One’s minions have promise to probe deep into the hidden corners of YOUR personal and professional life.
Surely the irony of this is not lost on anyone?
------------------------------[ End of Article ]------------------------------
"The One?"
Can't we move past the name-calling and subtle undertones of conspiracy? Haven't we seen similar cabinet-post vetting in the past? This application doesn't "elevate the vetting of applicants to a whole new level." It is cautiously and respectfully delving into the personal matters that will be of contention to those same right wingers investigations of all his cabinet appointees. Doesn't that only make sense? Would you want someone working in your cabinet who has skeletons in their closet, just waiting for the right wingers to open the door? I find his application no more intrusive than a standard job application -- one that requests your criminal history if you're handling cash, or one that requests your driving history if you're driving a vehicle for the job. If you are going to be a public servant, you should be willing to divulge your public profile for your prospective employer to scrutinize. To not ask this information, in my opinion, would be incompetent, to say the least, of your prospective employer. So you say you want a job in the Obama Administration? Plan on filling out the 7-page... more

To Anonymous:
IGNORANCE AND HATE? The right wing's hypocrisy is incredulous, but what else can be expected of pathetic minds who are clouded with the fairytales of "biblical proportions" (pun intended). Every retort, response, blather or nonsense that comes from your pie-hole or in this case your closed-mind translates into exactly what you accuse others of. Hatred, ignorance is YOUR dogma!!! We who think outside the intolerance box, you pathetic people have imprisoned yourselves in, have no dogma, we are free from the bonds of aversion. The only reply I can give to you is, "I feel so sorry for you." Life is too short and there really isn't enough time to spend on hatred but somehow, I suspect you would probably fall apart if you could not loath the many groups of people you don't agree with. In other words, you would suddenly feel so worthless. Hatred gives you power, a pseudo potency, to believe that you possess moral excellence. But sadly in reality what you have achieved with your Philosophical Castles In The Air, is Moral Bankruptcy. Too bad, Too sad. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

The 'L-curve' helps one imagine the degree to which wealth in the United States in inequitably distributed by policy and by design. The US population is represented 'stretched across a football field in order of income, from poorest, on the left, to richest. Imagine a stack of $100 bills 'representing each person's income.' For example: a stack one inch high represents a stack of one hundred dollars bills, i.e, $25,000. The red line on the graph represents the height of that stack compared to an American football field.
"The red line in the first picture is the beginning of the U. S. income distribution. On the scale of the football field the line slopes gradually from zero on the left to less than 2-inches high at the 50-yard line ($39,000), to about 4-inches high at the 95-yard line ($132,000). On this scale the entire graph is less than one pixel high, up to this point. It is not until you are well past the 99-yard line that you hit the $1 million mark: a stack of $100 bills 40-inches high. There were over 144,000 people who turned in IRS returns in 1997 with adjusted gross incomes of $1 million or more." [See: Houston Independent Media Center, Wealth Distribution in the US http://houston.indymedia.org/news/2003/07/14100.php ]
Although the US economy produces tremendous wealth, it is always accompanied in GOP regimes by tremendous poverty. The US, for example, was most egalitarian in the years immediately following WWII. During GOP regimes, income inequality increased and is, in fact, measured with the GINI index. Higher Ginis indicate greater levels of income inequality. These indices have been significantly greater in every GOP regime since World War II.
Certainly --there is enough wealth to go around. Instead, wealth flows upward ---not down, as the propagandists of 'supply side' i.e. 'trickle down theory' would have you believe. The problem is systemic --the result of identifiable, right wing policies that can be identified.
The primary culprits are GOP tax cuts by Mssrs Ronald Reagan and Bush; the effect of those cuts have been the deliberate transfer of wealth first to the upper quintile and, most recently, to an increasingly tiny elite of about one percent of the total population [See: Dr. Daniel Weinberger, US Census Bureau Briefings; Also see: The Quarterly Journal of Economics: Income Inequality in the United States at the following URL: http://elsa.berkeley.edu/~saez/pikettyqje.pdf]. It's a PDF and cites academic and official, original sources of data.
As wealth is transferred to the very top with tax cuts for only the very, very wealthy and practitioners of 'corporate socialism', the masses are left to fight over the crumbs. There is no poverty in America that could not be addressed by simply addressing GOP tax policies --give aways -- which deliberately make the rich richer, the working class significantly poorer.
If you are in the middle class now, don't kid yourself. Unless you stand to inherit a fortune of several billions from a rich and long lost Uncle, the chances are almost exponentially high against you. Chances are --you will NOT progress upward in this society. Moreover, this aspect of American society is the work of one party primarily: the GOP! The GOP is the party of a rich elites who have learned how to 'sell' a fairy tale: supply side economics, or, derisively --"trickle down theory". To sum it all up: wealth has never, does not, will not 'trickle down'. The 'L-curve' helps one imagine the degree to which wealth in the United... more

In life, Austria's best-known far-right politician, Joerg Haider, was a media staple. In death, interest in him has skyrocketed again, thanks to the revelation that he may have been gay or bisexual.
Haider was killed in a high-speed car accident on Oct. 11. Since then, Europe's newspapers, especially those in Germany, have published stories and photographs of the leader surrounded by young men in what the newspapers call gay bars. "Was Haider Living a Double Life?" the mass-market German daily Bild blared this week. A later story showed photographs of Haider's deputy, Stefan Petzner, in low-cut jeans, a dolphin tattooed on his hip.
Even the otherwise circumspect Austrian media is broaching the topic. Newspapers there have published pictures of Haider, who was 58, partying with groups of young men, including shots from the night of his death. "Everybody knew about his sexual orientation," says Thomas Hofer, a former magazine editor who is now an independent political consultant in Vienna. "But there was a consensus in the Austrian media not to write about it."

Austrian far right politician's double life Was Jorg Haider bisexual?
By Michel Rauch
Revelations that far right politician Jorg Haider († 58) led a double life have stunned and divided Austria.
Just two weeks after Haider’s fatal car accident, the picture of the family man with two children has been shattered. Recent reports have suggested that Austria’s most famous and controversial politician may well have loved men as well.
It was revealed shortly after the crash that Haider had been at a gay bar on the night of his death, and BILD later tracked down a man he had been drinking with.
As yet there has been no proof that Haider, who was governor of Carinthia, was bisexual. But the Austrian internet newspaper ‘Scoop.at’ speculates: 'Did the end of a relationship with Stefan Petzner cost Haider his life?'
Petzner (27), Haider’s press spokesman and a close confidant, is now the official successor as leader of the ‘Alliance for the Future of Austria’ (AFA) party.
Stefan Petzer couldn’t hold back the tears in a recent TV interview after Haider’s death, and shocked many by saying: “He was my life partner.”
Petzner’s sister Christiane (30) did nothing to dampen rumours that Haider was bisexual in an interview with the Austrian magazine ‘Madonna’: “Stefan spent three quarters of his time with Jorg Haider, even on weekends and on holidays. He never left his side. Sometimes his wife Claudia Haider was jealous of him, because Stefan spent more time with her husband than she did.
“Stefan and Jorg were the best of friends. The bonds were very strong between them. In their own way they loved each other.”
