Who We Are
By Gaye Reyes
This is to introduce you to a Village called Dignity Village, Inc. We are a formally mobile Tent City founded by homeless people for those in the homeless community that were sick and tired of living on the streets ,under bushes and in doorways. Dignity Village has now grown out of the “tent city” mode and has become a true Village.
We have set up our own administrative and legislative branch of government and are working on our judicial. At this time the administrative (village council) is trying to do both judicial as well as administrative.
The Administrative branch of Dignity Village, Inc. is comprised of a council and (Board of Directors). Chairperson is Timothy McCarthy , Vice Chairperson Laura Brown , Secretary Ross Bennett , Treasurer Alan Rocheleau the remainder of the village council are Bob , Ken , Ivan , Dean , and Gaye Reyes . The legislative body is the membership of Dignity Village, Inc. . No law or rule is passed or contract signed without going to the membership for approval.
The Village has moved away from an all “tent city” to small houses built primarily by the villagers with the help of some of our much loved supporters from the wider community. Chrysler Chelle (our building coordinator) and her building crew have done a remarkable job. Ken, Travis, Big Al, Big Red, Shorty, Timothy and many others have worked to that end. For those of us that could not build because of physical disabilities we set up a work exchange program. If Chelle and her crew are working on a house then the person that the house is designated for will pull her security duty or the security of one of her crew. Not only does this help to get the building done but, allows the person the building is for to feel they are participating, and to that end gives them pride of place. In other words, “Dignity”, self-respect, and the knowledge they can accomplish good things for themselves without a hand out.

Follow the Money: Unearthing the Roots of the Sub-Prime Crisis
May 29, 2007 marked the beginning of production for FOLLOW THE MONEY, an investigative look at the background and impact of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. It’s a story with implications for the well-woven fabric we call the American Dream. With ever-increasing numbers of mortgage defaults, homeowners are seeing dreams turn to nightmares… and the predictions remain dire. In the next few years it’s estimated that another 2.2 million homes will be lost through foreclosure. And it’s not only the working class and poor -- a significant segment of the middle-class has been impacted as well.
Bob and Stacy Schmidt of Maryville, Tennessee are victims. But they’ve decided to fight back. With two sons and five dogs the family has fought for several years to prevent what they contend is an illegal foreclosure. With a loan originated by the bankrupt sub-prime giant, New Century, the Schmidt's now find themselves locked in battle with Litton Loan Servicing, a so-called mortgage “servicer.” Litton has been the subject of numerous consumer complaints and the target of several individual and class action lawsuits.
A dramatic confrontation on May 29th, 2007 was caught on tape by Pacific Street when three carloads of Sheriff’s deputies arrived with an order of eviction. The Schmidt’s had declared they would not leave, despite threats of arrest. A last minute phone call to a Federal Judge ended the tense stand-off. However a few days later the deputies returned, armed with a new foreclosure notice. Caught on tape, is the arrest of the Schmidt’s son as well as the “removal” of Mr. Schmidt from the residence – in handcuffs.
The Schmidt's — self-proclaimed conservative “red staters” — are armed with a crusading passion that goes beyond an attempt to just save their home. “We’re trying to show the country what the system is doing to regular people,” declared Bob Schmidt. Many believe that mortgage fraud in the sub-prime industry is a scandal of Enron proportions.
But Litton is just the tip of the iceberg, one of many so-called “mortgage servicers.” This segment of the sub-prime industry – with links to hedge funds, equity investors and major banks – offers a window on how a mortgage-based house of cards was carefully constructed over the last two decades – and now is beginning to topple, creating tremors that have rippled through the global economy.
In every sense, FOLLOW THE MONEY will be a taut, dramatic investigative “adventure.”Follow the Money: Unearthing the Roots of the Sub-Prime Crisis

Watch Bear Stearns' EMC Mortgage lie in this video. EMC later testified during a 2004 trial that Wright was never in default and also testified they did not own Mr. Wright's note.
While still on the witness stand, EMC was asked: So you saw Bank of America's errors, but rather than correct the mistakes, you just decided to steal Mr. Wright's home and equity didn't you?" EMC answered: "Yes."
Within moments, the judge shut down the trial and recused herself. The trial was never finished.

The theft of the American Dream.
These keys represent the future of the American Dream and the future of our children. These keys also symbolize the keys you hold to the prison cells; where those responsible for this nation's mortgage, financial, morality and economic crisis should be incarcerated for the rest of their natural lives.
For more than a decade, the American people warned of this impending crisis, but the entire United States government and its judiciary; instead of acting in the best interest of the country, silently sat back and profited from the greed and corruption that eroded the centuries-old fabric painstakingly woven by our forefathers.
Your solution to shore up the same entities that deliberately disassembled the moral and financial foundation of this once great nation while leaving its innocent victims destitute, insults the intelligence of the entire human race. You should be ashamed.
Signed:
