To the joy of Wayne Bridges [Current's lawyer: "allegedly!"] but dismay of England fans all over the country, John Terry could be out of this year's World Cup due to a foot injury suffered in training today.
Terry's had a scan in hospital this afternoon but the results of it aren't due until later in the week.
A statement on Chelsea's website read: "John Terry has today taken a knock in training and has gone to hospital for a precautionary scan on his right foot.
"He left Cobham walking freely in a protective boot, and we await the results which are expected on Thursday."

Celebrity gossip website MrPapparazi.com have posted a video on YouTube containing an amusing look into an autograph-session-turned-prank starring the most talked about footballer of February, John Terry.
Terry is asked by a fan to write a note reading 'To Wayne, sorry'. He quickly realises and is obviously not overly happy with the gesture. There can be only speculation as to what he actually writes down, but my guess is it isn't an apology.

Wayne Bridge yesterday announced his retirement from International football claiming his place in the squad had become "untenable and potentially divisive" after finding out his friend and former captain had been sleeping with the mother of his child.
Today though "friends" from the Team Terry camp have hit back claiming that Bridge is known in the dressing room as being a bit of a bottler and had done it again. Terry is also supposedly annoyed at the timing of Bridge's statement and claims he is fishing for sympathy in the press.

Wayne Bridge has told the England camp today that he's not ready to share a dressing room with John Terry, following allegations that Terry had an affair with Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel.
In a statement released by his lawyers, Bridge explained why he's withdrawing from England's World Cup efforts in South Africa:
"I have thought long and hard about my position in the England football team in the light of the reporting and events over the last few weeks," Bridge said. "It has always been an honour to play for England. However, after careful thought I believe my position in the squad is now untenable and potentially divisive.
"Sadly, therefore, I feel for the sake of the team and in order to avoid what will be inevitable distractions, I have decided not to put myself forward for selection. I have today informed the management of this decision. I wish the team all the very best in South Africa."
Capello may now turn to Leighton Baines, of Everton, and Stephen Warnock, of Aston Villa, as secondary options at left back.

Showdown talks between England manager Fabio Capello and John Terry, over his alleged affair with a team mates former wife, lasted all of 12 minutes today, culminating in the player being stripped of the England captaincy.
In a statement, Capello said "After much thought I have made the decision that it will be best for me to take the captaincy away from John Terry," he went on to say "What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice."
Terry himself issued a short statement, which read "I fully respect Fabio Capello's decision... I will continue to give everything for England."

After a highly controversial week that has rocked the football world, speculation over the next England captain has already begun.
Tabloid papers this week reported that current captain, John Terry, has been playing away from home with the former partner of England team-mate Wayne Bridge, Vanessa Perroncel. And with the World Cup fast approaching this summer, many are doubting that he will be able to command the much needed respect amongst the dressing room.
So who will lead the England team to glory this summer? Reports suggest that Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is the front runner, and with the striker on top form this season, he is also England's most naturally gifted player. Other candidates for the role include Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard, whilst some have called for David Beckham to make a return to his former post. What do you think?

A first half goal from Peter Crouch and an 85th-minute winner from John Terry against Ukraine last night gave England their fifth consecutive win and left them on top of Group Six in the World Cup qualifiers.
It was the two players' goal celebrations that superseded any display of football skills, however. Inspired by a recent Comic Relief sketch in which Gavin And Stacey actor James Corden advises Peter Crouch to abandon the robot move and instead do a "pull-the-rope" mime dance, the number 9 duly obliged.
For his celebration, John Terry teamed up with Wayne Rooney to recreate the captain's last haircut.
"I needed a haircut, but we weren't allowed to leave the hotel," Terry told reporters.
"I asked Wazza and he obliged by giving me a little trim. I'm pleased with it and I might go back next time. He was asking for a tenner for it, but I still owe him."A first half goal from Peter Crouch and an 85th-minute winner from John Terry against... more

After several big name players were ruled out of the friendly against long-time nemesis Germany, Fabio Capello's England team managed to scrape a 2-1 win thanks to a late headed winner from captain John Terry.
Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Theo Walcott were all watching on from the sidelines because of injuries, but that didn't seem to phase Capello who called up some of England's future talent, namely Gabriel Agbonlahor, Michael Carrick and Matthew Upson.
"England looked confident, with a nice balance to the side due to the presence of Wright-Philips and Downing on the flanks and with real pace up front in the shape of Defoe and Agbonlahor."
Wonder if Capello will hand back the missing players their places when they recover or if they'll have to work their way back into the team. After several big name players were ruled out of the friendly against long-time... more

Chelsea captain Terry was sent off with 13 minutes remaining on Saturday
Chelsea captain John Terry has been cleared to play against Manchester United on Sunday after his appeal against a red card proved successful.
Terry was sent off for a foul on Manchester City striker Jo, but a Football Association hearing upheld Chelsea's claim of wrongful dismissal. He received a straight red from Mark Halsey, with the referee deeming the incident to be serious foul play.
The England skipper had been set to miss three games.
Had the ban been enforced, Terry would have missed Sunday's crucial Premier League clash with champions United, as well as the Carling Cup tie against Portsmouth on 24 September and the league encounter with Stoke three days later.
The foul on Jo occurred inside the centre circle, with Terry's centre-back partner Ricardo Carvalho covering the play and full-back Jose Bosingwa also sprinting back to defend.
But Halsey's decision to issue a red card for serious foul play rather than a professional foul meant the position on the pitch and the presence of other players were not relevant. Serious foul play is classed as when a player "uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when challenging for the ball when it is play".

Terry will have little chance of his sending-off being overturned as referee Mark Halsey deemed the defender's holding block on Brazilian striker Jo as serious foul play as opposed to a professional foul.
In such an instance a failed appeal could result in The Football Association (FA) imposing a longer ban of up to three matches.
Chelsea's appeal is expected to unsuccessful with FA unable to downgrade red cards to yellow, unless the club can somehow demonstrate that Terry should not have been cautioned in their faint hopes to get the decision rescinded.
Speaking in Terry's defence, teammate Frank Lampard, convinced that Terry was not the last man and therefore should not have been sent-off since Ricardo Carvalho was in a recovery position behind him, criticised Halsey, arguing that rash dismissals could endanger the future of the game.
"If you start giving out red cards like that you'll have four or five in a game. Hopefully they'll look at it again and make it a yellow card. It's not a red card when there's two men behind the ball," said Lampard.
But despite Lampards's calls that Terry should earn a reprieve, the Chelsea skipper is now almost certain to miss Sunday's game against Manchester United.
And should a three-match suspension be imposed, Terry will also be unavailable for Luiz Felipe Scolari's side for the games against Stoke and Aston Villa.

Robinho, Britain’s most expensive footballer, made an instant impact on his Premier League debut for Manchester City yesterday, even though his side lost 3-1 to Chelsea. The Brazilian, who had flown 16,000 miles in the last week to play two World Cup qualifiers for his country in South America, only arrived back in England late on Thursday night. But he showed no signs of jet lag, scoring from a direct free kick just 12 minutes into the game in front of a record City of Manchester stadium crowd of 47,331.
In an irony that would not have been lost on the visitors, it was Chelsea who had first courted Robinho until City’s £32.4m bid at the close of the summer transfer window tempted Real Madrid. The goal prompted a furious row between Chelsea keeper Petr Cech and captain John Terry about the positioning of the defensive wall. However, Chelsea struck back within five minutes through Ricardo Carvalho.
Shortly after the interval, Frank Lampard added a second and Nicolas Anelka scored his second of the season with 20 minutes left. Chelsea are top of the Premier League but the win was overshadowed by the dismissal of Terry for bringing down Jo. He will be suspended from the game against Manchester United a week today. Lampard queried the sending-off, saying: “I’ve never seen a player get sent off for a professional foul with two players behind him,” and Chelsea are expected to appeal.

England coach Fabio Capello has announced that John Terry will be the national side's captiain in the run-up to the 2010 World Cup.
Capello had previously chosen Rio Ferdinand to captain the side, but said that Terry's big personality was the key in his decision:
"The big personality of John was the reason I chose him but Rio is very important to the team"
Obviously quite chuffed, especially given his poor run of form at the end of last season, ahem, penalties, he said:
"I think everybody realises it means the world to me to retain the armband. To get the armband back is a huge achievement for me."
"I heard about an hour before the news conference, just after training. The manager called the whole squad together and told us as a whole.

Following what can only be described as a season full of let downs, John Terry missing out on being able to captain his country could've turned him into a big sobbing baby again.
But as part of his selection process for the position of England skipper, Fabio Capello has given the Chelsea defender a chance to show he can rise above Manchester United grabbing the Champion's League and Premiership from Terry's cherished Chelsea.
Besides from the rotation process Capello is using to establish his permanent skipper, he said that when he told JT he was going to be captain, he was 'very, very happy.'

THE sporting picture of this year without doubt is the image of John Terry with tears chasing raindrops down his face after the penalty shoot-out miss that condemned Chelsea to defeat in the Champions League final.
It was a pitiful sight to see a self-styled strongman lose all control of his emotions.
The pity lay not in the fact he cried but that he cried for so long, that he could find no way to stop the flood of tears.
Only once previously had I seen a huge man of sport collapse so completely. That was the champion rower Matthew Pinsent, when he captured a fourth Olympic gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Pinsent was consumed by a waterfall of tears when the race was narrowly won, and then again when he stepped on to the podium to receive his golden prize. As the national anthem played, he hung his head in a vain attempt to hide his loss of control.
The experience prompted Pinsent to quit his sport. He could not go through the emotional mangle again, not even with the possibility of a fifth Olympic gold medal to equal Sir Steve Redgrave.
Pinsent’s tears were shed in triumph. Another sporting knight, Sir Bobby Charlton, did the same in the Manchester United dressing room after the Champions League final last Wednesday night in Moscow. Charlton has an old-fashioned view that you cry in victory but not defeat.
It is tempting to many of us, I suspect, to agree with the view that tears of joy for victors are preferable to tears of despair from runners-up.
But that isn’t the modern way. Terry was one of several England footballers who were tearful after the penalty shoot-out defeat by Portugal in the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup. THE sporting picture of this year without doubt is the image of John Terry with tears... more
