The London Evening Standard will transform itself in a free newspaper in ten days time.
Its publishers confirmed this morning that from October 12 it will become one of the first quality newspapers in the world to stop charging readers – ending nearly 200 year tradition of people paying for the title.
The switch will see the paper more than double its daily circulation of around 250,000 to more than 600,000.

We spent St. Patrick's day at Webster Hall NYC exploring what it means to be Irish and the importance of preserving Irish heritage on the Lower East Side. The neighborhood is currently being gentrified, threatening an Irish potato famine church built by Irish immigrants fleeing the potato blithe of the mid 1800's. Webster Hall and neighborhood regulars step up to bring attention and support in an attempt to save St. Brigid's church. The church was recently saved by an anonymous 20 million dollar donor.
