In a remote Cambodian village where her family had lived for generations, political unrest resulting in genocide forced Chandy, her family and thousands of Cambodians to be relocated to Thai refugee camps hundreds of miles away.
There appeared to be no future, but while living in the camp Chandy was given options she never would have had in her village - to be educated and trained as a midwife.
Twenty years later Chandy travels dangerous, rough and muddy roads leading a midwives’ outreach program. The program gives isolated village women a previously impossible option, which prevents life threatening complications.
Maternal Health Care
Chandy manages the Delivery Life Support Program, which is a project of Trauma Care Foundation and is modeled after a chain of survival network created for land mine victims in north-western Cambodia, where four-thousand villagers living inside the mine field were trained as trauma first helpers to stop bleeding and keep airways open on-site and during evacuations.

Pet overpopulation is the most serious humane issue facing pet animals in our society.
Thousands of pets die in Los Angeles every year as a result of overpopulation. Their remains are collected throughout the city (from shelters, veterinarian offices and even from the streets) and then taken to rendering facilities to be processed into raw materials - which will be used in the production of items that include cosmetics, animal and fish feed.
Rendering involves crushing animal by-products (eg, fat, bones and internal organs), heating them to drive off the water content and then separating the residue into fat (generally called 'tallow') and solids.

Built in Kabul is a 6-minute film about a side of Afghanistan you haven?t seen.
There is an unfamiliar sound in Kabul-it is the clink of metal hitting metal. It is hard not to notice the young men who are eagerly congregating in small rooms.
No, these men are not gathering to form new terrorism cells, but to pump iron?
Bodybuilding has become enormously popular among hundreds young men in this war torn country. There are over fifty new weight lifting gyms in Kabul alone, using old weights from the Soviet invasion in the 70?s.
There are ten-foot tall handmade billboards of Arnold Schwarzenegger?s muscular image overlooking the city as it struggles to rebuild its citizens and itself as a country.
Shoib Satar is one of these young bodybuilders who sees this sport as a way Afghans can better themselves.
As young men become ?strong? and ?independent? so does their country. Shoib has great hopes for the future of his people and his home in the new film by Brent E. Huffman entitled Built in Kabul.
