Obama has put forth his budget proposal to Congress like a bone before the three-headed GOP guardian dog of Hades...hoping it will suffice. In it are severe cuts to so-called entitlement programs via the chained CPI, sure to please house Republicans but leave most Americans far worse off. What are these "entitlement" programs? And on this tax day that hasn't got the biggest corporate evaders worried one bit, what is real meaning of "entitlement"?

Hit hardest will be rural skilled nursing facilities that rely heavily on Medicaid reimbursement to keep the doors open.
There are over 870,000 Medicaid residents in long term care in over 15,000 assisted and skilled nursing facilities across the U.S. For better or worse, their bodies have out lived their savings or chronic medical issues have robbed them of their ability to work and care for themselves.-- They may be forgotten, tucked in little nursing homes throughout our communities, but the poorest and oldest of our citizens are not a spending problem...

Spending more will never be the solution to our problems. Every down turn spiral points to our government's careless spending beyond our means, politicians don't really look at cutting spending. Raising taxes to the rich or the middle class will never solve the ever increasing deficit. Our government spends estimated about six million dollars per minute, just do the math for each hour, each day, each month, and each year, when are we going to wake up?Spending more will never be the solution to our problems. Unlike other government departments and programs, public universities get to ignore the reality of a recession and just keep raising fees. Financial aid for needy students is being paid for with student loan debt! In other words, the burgeoning student loan debt crisis is not only filling the cuts from the legislature, it’s also propping up financial aid to low income students that has also been cut. The middle class in America is getting screwed.

There aren't going to be many Catholics that agree with Paul Ryan. The more devout would call this guy the anti-Christ. He tried to tie his budget to his Catholic beliefs, (remember that?), only to have the church hierarchy slam him for it. Can't call them leftys. They are with the right on issues such as abortion and birth control. After this he chose to repudiate her even though as late as last XMas he was still giving out her books as presents (BS!). There is nothing, absolutely nothing in scripture that justifies his budget. Jesus worked to put food in peoples mouths while installing God in their hearts, so they would follow his example. Did Jesus praise the money changers for being "job creators"? Of course not, he threw them out for defiling God's house.
"...And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all of them who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves..."
"...In Mark 12:40 and Luke 20:47 Jesus again accuses the Temple authorities of thieving and this time names poor widows as their victims going on to provide evidence of this in Mark 12:42 and Luke 21:2. Dove sellers were selling doves that were sacrificed by the poor who could not afford grander sacrifices and specifically by women. According to Mark 11:16, Jesus then put an embargo on people carrying any merchandise through the temple—a sanction that would have disrupted all commerce...."
A den of thieves, huh? An embargo on merchandise in the temple?
Its the only time in the Bible where Jesus uses physical force. Where would YOU have been Paul Ryan if you had been in the temple that day? Would you have helped Jesus throw out the money changers, or would you have been one of the money changers?
Maybe there's a clue in the article:
"...Mitt Romney has not escaped criticism from religious groups; most recently, a group of nuns and the Franciscan Action Network have asked Romney to shadow them for a day visiting the poor in order to better understand how his policies affect low income individuals. So far, both Romney and Ryan have dismissed and ignored the calls for compassion from the religious community...."

Romney has proved once again that he has little grasp on reality or sound educational policy. While funds are being cut from education programs across the nation, Mr. 1% called for expanding charter schools (privately run but paid for by taxpayers), and creating a voucher system so that poor and disabled students can attend private schools, also using public money.
Aside from getting a government handout for wealthy people to send little Skip or Bitzy to a better school, it's hard to understand the logic of abandoning the public school system in favor of creating a new school system funded by taxpayers. While people love the myth that Charter Schools outperform their public school counterparts, research shows otherwise.

In defending his budget, Ryan insisted that there can be differences among the Catholic faithful on this issue. Really? It’s funny how there can be differences among Catholics on this issue, but not on the issues of birth control, abortion and same-sex marriage. Obama administration warns the left: You will not like our budget
By Alexander Bolton - 01/17/12 05:30 AM ET
Top White House officials are warning liberal and labor leaders to brace themselves for President Obama’s budget proposal.
Gene Sperling, director of the National Economic Council, sought in meetings last week to lift the left’s gloom about Washington’s crackdown on spending by promising that the president this year will focus on job creation rather than deficit cutting.
Obama staffers sought to present their budget plan as a glass half full. According to sources familiar with the briefings, they promised that the president will focus on jobs and the economy, instead of deficit-cutting, which dominated last year’s debate on Capitol Hill.
Obama has signaled in recent weeks that he plans to run a populist reelection campaign. He will need to keep liberal activist and labor groups — important parts of the Democratic base — energized for his strategy to work.
