Oakland's Oaksterdam University was taken over by federal officials Monday.
Officers wearing U.S. Marshals, IRS and DEA jackets swarmed the Oakland medical marijuana facility on Broadway before 8 a.m. Investigators put yellow crime tape around the entire building.
The nearby Oaksterdam Museum was also being blocked off, according to NBC Bay Area's Christie Smith, as was the Oaksterdam gift shop and the Oakland Cannabis Buyers Cooperative.
In all, at least four locations were sealed off by the feds.

The hearing started at 10:30am in Allentown, PA. Attending the hearing were George's wife, his son, and myself. He was represented by Paul Hetznecker, the attorney that won the acquittal of the protesters arrested at the Army Experience Center at the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia, PA. Things went well with the judge describing the charges that he is now facing as "petty offenses".

It was obvious the US Marshals knew that FIJA activist Julian Heicklen was coming, then again we made enough noise on the Internet about it. As soon as they spotted him in the park near the federal courthouse they were watching. They watched and followed as we approached the court. Julian walked right into the middle of the bunch of them. He was arrested before he could even hand out one pamphlet.

Law enforcement computers were struck by a Mystery computer virus Thursday, forcing the FBI and the U.S. Marshals to shut down part of their networks as a precaution.
The U.S. Marshals confirmed it disconnected from the Justice Department's computers as a protective measure after being hit by the virus; an FBI official said only that that agency was experiencing similar issues and was working on the problem.
"We too are evaluating a network issue on our external, unclassified network that's affecting several government agencies," said FBI spokesman Mike Kortan. He did not elaborate or identify the other agencies.
Marshals spokeswoman Nikki Credic said the agency's computer problem began Thursday morning. The FBI began experiencing similar problems earlier.
"At no time was data compromised," said Credic. The type of virus and its origin were not determined.
In addition to their external networks, most federal law enforcement agencies have an internal-only network to prevent cyber-snoopers from sensitive data.
In Thursday's incident, the Marshals Service shut down its Internet access and some e-mail while staff worked on the problem. The FBI made similar moves to protect its system.Law enforcement computers were struck by a Mystery computer virus Thursday, forcing... more

NEW YORK - A hedge fund swindler who set off a national manhunt when he faked his suicide to avoid reporting to prison rode his scooter to a small-town police station in Massachusetts on Wednesday and turned himself in while talking to his mother on his cell phone.
Authorities say Samuel Israel III showed up at the police station in Southwick at about 9:15 a.m., after hiding out for the last three weeks in his RV. The U.S. Marshals Service had been in touch with the mother for several days as the feds zeroed in on her fugitive son.
“Obviously, she probably had some kind of influence, which mothers usually do,” said Frank Dawson, public information officer for the U.S. Marshals Service in Boston. “He knew they were getting close to him, so he probably did the right thing.”NEW YORK - A hedge fund swindler who set off a national manhunt when he faked his... more
