So much for a peaceful weekend!
After such a lovely time in Spring the crew of Tribal Voices united once more for music and knowledge sharing (sorry, I mean watching telly with our heads in the sand - no dissemination of information going on here ) @ The Holly Bush Inn, Hay On Wye.
Whilst there we heard that the largest Alternative powered gathering in the U.K, The Big Green Gathering, had been cancelled due to political reasons.
No really, we are seriously not allowed to share information in this country anymore .. Sure suits will smile and say, don't be ridiculous you uninformed little conspiracy theorist, you. And gently pat me on the arm saying not to worry my sweet little head about it - (this actually happened in The House of Commons, but that's another story ) however, its kinda weird when basic community values, like trust, safety & honour are undermined by the very people we elect to uphold community, trust and democratic rights.
((google S.O.C.P.A & find out for yourselves - don't just take my word on it!))
Anyway - here we were in a field and there were our mates evicted from their field, so we created an impromptu gathering and once security & First Aiders were in place we had ourselves our very own refugee camp.
(yes, I know its illegal to help dispossessed humans too - if this is to be used as evidence against me in a court of law, please note we didn't allow them access to fresh water, food or medical supplies - does that make it ok?)
you know wot - sometimes we've got to go on what feels right and stop trying to jump through all the boxes imposed by a fearful regime.
We ended up with love in our hearts, songs in our minds and the good feeling of knowing our friends were a little shaken&stirred but safe.
Oh -and some great music, food, chai & COFFEE was enjoyed by all.
Thanks to all who came & played - please feel free to contact us for recording space & cd's of our folklore dating back to Twyford Down or for further footage of your crews from this event -

While the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London was sponsoring Refugee Week in the UK, the management of this well known international university were hosting an immigration raid on campus. The hypocrisy was not lost on students who quickly occupied directorate offices in opposition to the arrest and detention of nine so called ‘illegal’ cleaning staff by border police. WORLDbytes reporters spoke to students at an impromptu rally and inside the occupied offices. As one migrant cleaner from Columbia, Alberto Durango says in the report: “We need to resist... This is happening in the City of London. This is happening all around London…But it’s up to us to fight back.” Student’s opposition and speedy action has already brought results. SOAS Principal Paul Webley was forced to make a request to the home secretary to grant all the cleaners leave to remain in the UK. So far, his demand has fallen on deaf ears, but SOAS chiefs may not be so quick to cooperate with the government’s anti-immigrant agenda in future. While the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London was sponsoring... more

Feminists reportedly brought chaos to London Underground stations when they 'milkshaked' escalators in support of the tube cleaners' strike during rush hour this morning.
Activists from Feminist Fightback poured the milky concoctions (chocolate, strawberry or vanilla, I wonder?) onto the escalators, forcing a close-down until the mess could be cleared up, in an attempt to highlight the crucial role that cleaners play in keeping the underground running.
They were acting in support of cleaners on the underground who've been on strike since Tuesday evening, after TfL failed to respond to the cleaners' one day strike last week.
London Underground cleaners - the majority of whom are women and people from ethnic minorities - are demanding:
• A wage of £7.20 per hour, the minimum London living wage as determined by the GLA last year
• Sick Pay
• Decent pensions
• 28 days' annual leave
• An end to third party sackings
Last Friday Feminist Fightback activists invaded London Underground Headquarters. Armed with feather dusters, brooms and mops, they set about helping Transport for London 'clean up their act' until they were forcibly removed.
Do you support the demands of the men and women who mop up your sick and clear away your newspapers every day? )
Were you at Bank or Tottenham Court Road stations earlier today? Did errant dairy products ruin your journey, and mess up your morning?
Or was the protest just a drop in the (milky) ocean (do you see what I did there?) of the tube's everyday disruptions?
