Oh my, this is what I have been crying out for, 'ACCOUNTABILITY NOW'! If you care about America, our civil liberties, our Constitution, the 'Rule of Law', join today!
August 8, 2008—this is the date for our Strangebedfellows MONEYBOMB on behalf of constitutional rights and civil liberties in America. Let's remove from power the key enablers of the tyrannical and lawless FISA 'compromise;' we can end the Patriot Act—and so much more. Join with us by pledging now—right here at AccountabilityNowPAC.com. Become a part of our transpartisan alliance of freedom lovers! Be a Strangebedfellow!
Who Are The Strangebedfellows?
Strangebedfellows is a unique and diverse left--right coalition which has come together to put a stop to the eradication of civil liberties in America. Modeled on a similar group in Britain, the initial Strangebedfellows group encompasses Ron Paul supporters (BreakTheMatrix.com, Rick Williams and Trevor Lyman), leading bloggers from the left (Glenn Greenwald of Salon.com, Jane Hamsher of firedoglake.com) and many more who share the view that warrantless surveillance, telecom immunity and other such outrages of the lawless surveillance state MUST END—AND END NOW. Our group of Strangebedfellows is organizing a moneybomb on behalf of AccountabilityNowPAC, and we’re reaching out to friends and colleagues from across the political spectrum who believe in the Bill of Rights and freedom in America. So join us-- become a Strangebedfellow! Add your name and group to our list of backers, and enter your pledge today to donate to AccountabilityNowPAC. Let’s reverse these police state sellouts by our political leaders—FOREVER.
Here’s What We’re Asking You To Do
Strangebedfellows has retained BreakTheMatrix to serve as our moneybomb organizer and service provider for a massive donations collection effort on behalf of AccountabilityNowPAC. Remember the giant moneybombs from the Ron Paul presidential campaign? Well Trevor Lyman was the man behind those efforts, and he and his BreakTheMatrix colleagues are the leading experts in the world in online moneybomb fundraising. Here’s how it works:
You enter your pledge today—RIGHT NOW-- by clicking the “Pledge” button on the side of this website screen. This pledge becomes your commitment to contribute (maximum donation $5000) to AccountabilityNowPAC on August 8, 2008—the moneybomb collection day. Visit our website often over the next month to watch the pledges mount and to learn about the growing array of supporters and groups who are choosing to become Strangebedfellows with us. Then the key event—you COME BACK on August 8, 2008, and make your actual money contribution through our online collection service right here at www.AccountabilityNowPAC.com. The force and power of a moneybomb is simple and straightforward. We all donate on the SAME DAY, and working together we send our political leaders (Democrat and Republican) a freedom message they will never forget. So help us make it work. Pledge today; then come back and donate on the 8th. Let’s show our leaders once and for all that there is a POWERFUL movement here that will settle for nothing less than constitutional governance in America.
Why August 8th?
That is the day in 1974 when Richard Nixon was forced to resign from office for his lawbreaking and surveillance abuses. That day illustrates how far we have fallen in this country in less than 35 years, as we now not only permit rampant presidential lawbreaking and a limitless surveillance state, but have a bipartisan political class that endorses it and even retroactively protects the lawbreakers.
Oh my, this is what I have been crying out for, 'ACCOUNTABILITY NOW'! If... more

I would like to start this post with his last 'most important' sentence. "Getting Congress to act should be the highest priority for every American citizen, before it is too late!"
Why aren't we hearing 'Voices of Reason' from mainstream media? Why are we only hearing 'warmongers' again? Are there no 'Voices of Reason' left in America, or is mainstream media ignoring them again?
by: Scott Ritter
... It may transpire that there is no military clash between Iran and the U.S. and the future President of the United States enters office free to undertake any policy direction he chooses. However, to sit back and do nothing in hopes of such a scenario unfolding is akin to planning to fund your child's college education by playing the lottery. You might win, but the overwhelming odds are against you. It is high time for Congress to stop gambling on the future of the United States by doing nothing about the issue of Iran. There has never been a more pressing need than the present for Congressional hearings about American policy toward Iran. Getting Congress to act should be the highest priority for every American citizen, before it is too late.
Let me repeat his last sentence, I would like to start this post with his last 'most important' sentence.... more

It's been over 5 years, but it's still relevant. Americans need to pay attention to John McCain's past statements to evaluate his future leadership. Do you want more war? If you don't, don't vote for McCain!
By: Logan Murphy
The Jed Report:
If you’re like me, it can be hard to get fired up about something John McCain says, but earlier this evening I spent twenty-something minutes watching John McCain’s October, 2002 Senate floor speech in favor of launching a preemptive war against Iraq.
It was chilling. John McCain is a war hero, but his foreign policy judgment is both terrifying and dangerous. Despite his protestations to the contrary, it’s impossible to watch this speech and not come to the conclusion that he is a trigger-happy war monger.
What stunned me most was that oil played a crucial role in McCain’s rationale. Speaking of Saddam Hussein, he said: “his ambitions lie not in Baghdad, or Tikrit, or Basra, but in the deserts of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.” Explaining the reluctance of other powers to support the war, McCain said that Saddam had dangled “the prospect of oil contracts for friendly foreign powers.” Read on…
John McCain doesn’t want to talk about how we got into Iraq, just how to get out. Unfortunately for him, his flawed judgment in following George Bush into this mess is of major importance to voters and he won’t be able to wiggle his way out of it no matter how hard he tries. There is little difference between McCain and Bush, and there is little doubt that he would take us straight into war with Iran if elected president — that is, if George Bush doesn’t beat him to it.
It's been over 5 years, but it's still relevant. Americans need to pay... more

"We won't know the truth until Congress digs it out, and that's why it is so incredibly important that anybody that reads your blog...gets on the phone, gets on their computer, or writes Congress and tells them to hold Karl Rove in contempt if he does not show up to testify on July 10th." - Don Siegelman

In Exclusive Interview, the Former Alabama Governor Requests Readers Contact House Judiciary Committee to Demand Accountability for the Subversion of Justice...
The torment and imprisonment of former Alabama governor Don Siegelman, allegedly via the hands of Karl Rove and his political hitmen operatives, has been extensively covered by The BRAD BLOG.
Over the weekend, Velvet Revolution.us (co-founded by The BRAD BLOG) sat down with him for an exclusive video-taped interview in Alabama. The entire interview will be posted soon, but we have posted two excerpts on YouTube. Both are embedded below.
Siegelman wants you to let Congress know that Rove must face the consequences of his actions. So do we.
Rove has been subpoenaed to testify before Congress tomorrow, July 10th, regarding the politicization of the Justice Department. The House Judiciary Committee wants to question Rove about his knowledge of the persecution prosecution of former Alabama Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman and the U.S. Attorney firing scandal.
But Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, has informed the Judiciary Committee that Rove will not attend the hearing.
Luskin has offered to make Rove available to the committee behind closed doors and not under oath. Luskin also insists that there be no transcript of the questioning and that Rove would not respond to written questions from the panel.
The Judiciary Committee has rejected that so-called "compromise."
We join Siegelman's request, as stated in his interview, in asking you to please contact the House Judiciary Committee and your House Representative to politely but firmly insist that they hold Karl Rove in contempt of Congress.
You can call the House Judiciary Committee at 202-225-3951 and you can email them via this page.
You can call your House Rep. at 202-224-3121. More contact info for your specific Representative can be found here.

I don't agree with everything Ron Paul advocates, but this video speaks volumes. We need to listen to the voices of reason over the warmongers who led us to war wrongly with Iraq. We can't let them do it again. Congress needs to think long and hard before they give George W. more power.
Ron Paul speaks for Democrats and Republicans. Many Americans realize we are on the wrong course. We need Congressional leadership. I don't agree with everything Ron Paul advocates, but this video speaks volumes.... more

** Photo used for post is an actual photo used in an article in 'Popular Mechanics', which was published just after cannabis/hemp was made illegal.** Once it was made illegal, they removed it from educational material and stopped the discussion. Could it also help save the environment? Yes it can!
We need to talk about cannabis/hemp with facts, not spin! We are in the middle of a ‘War on Americans, on American soil’. Cannabis/hemp is included in the ‘War on Drugs’. It doesn’t make sense, when a plant that could be readily available is distorted into an evil weed. Why? If a plant could benefit in so many ways, why can’t we talk? I’ll tell you why, we are at war with ourselves. Distorted facts are being used, instead of readily available documented facts. Why? It benefits Corporate America to keep cannabis/hemp labeled evil weed. It competes with so many man made products, they are afraid if facts about a plant, complements of ‘Mother Nature’, people may ask the real question. Why? They don’t have real facts to back up their spin. All we need is the conversation, the facts would speak for themselves.
Jack Herer, I know you post here, come on and join the dialog. I would like to see the discussion heard around the world. Most other countries already realize the war on cannabis/hemp is wrong. Many choose to go along to get along, because we help them out financially. Help me get the conversation going. Why don’t they want us to talk. Why do they lie?
There is a challenge in the book, ‘The Emperor Wears No Clothes’ in which they include the challenge:
$100,000 Challenge to Prove Us Wrong!
If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction, were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the Greenhouse Effect and stop deforestation;
then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world's paper and textiles; meet all of the world's transportation, industrial and home energy needs, while simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time...
and that substance is the same one that has done it before . . .
Let’s talk about it. Today there is a discussion about higher gas prices to save the environment. I was upset by the conversation, higher gas prices will hurt me personally and will take much suffering to make the necessary changes. If we are going to talk about higher fuel prices to save the planet, let's talk about the plant that can save the planet.
I want a conversation about a plant that could change things today. Cannabis/Hemp could be grown in American. Hemp could replace many synthetic, possibly toxic products now sold in America. Cannabis could be used in treating many medical conditions. Cannabis does not cause the same side effects as the current drugs on the market today. If we can’t talk, please explain why we shouldn’t talk?
