Barack Obama's overwhelming win was due in no small part to the millions he raked in via online appeals to supporters. Anyone hoping that his historic victory would end those daily pleas for cash was in for a surprise yesterday, though, when the campaign was back at it, asking for more money. This time the non-tax-deductable contributions go to pay the debts of the Democratic National Committee
I for one am very tired of getting ask for donations everyday in my email. The election is long over, and frankly, this is a disgrace. I looked on Obama's website once in September. Since then I have had hundreds of emails asking me for donations. I figured they would stop after the election. WRONG. I think it is shameful, for one thing Obama's team braged about how much money they had brought in, were bringing in, and how much extra they were going to have. So..why then do they keep it up? For 2012? Anyhow, for someone who is supposed to understand how the average American is hurting right now, this is a travesty. Also not very becoming of our President to be, I for one certainly would not let my associates beg for money long after the election, either he is greedy and doesn't care how tacky it looks or he is clueless to what his people are doing. Either way it doesn't bode well with me.Barack Obama's overwhelming win was due in no small part to the millions he raked... more

TRACY, Calif. – A Girl Scout leader and her husband were arrested after an emaciated, terrified and nearly naked 17-year-old showed up at a gym with a chain locked to his ankle, saying he had just fled his captors, authorities said Tuesday.
Police were also seeking a third suspect and had an outstanding felony warrant against her for an earlier alleged assault against the teen.
The boy, who authorities said ran away from a Sacramento foster home last year, came into the In-Shape Sports Club in Tracy on Monday wearing only boxer briefs and covered in what appeared to be soot, gym manager Chuck Ellis said. Tracy is about 70 miles south of Sacramento.
Ellis said the teen was scared someone was going to come after him and asked to be hidden.
"He said, 'Don't let them get me, don't let them get me,'" Ellis said. "He was totally terrified."
The boy said he had been held captive for nearly a year, said Ellis, adding that he looked as if he was only 10 to 12 years old.
Authorities said they believe the boy had been chained to a car seat but picked up a dropped key, unlocked himself and fled when the car stopped.
Police arrested Kelly Layne Lau, 30, and Michael Schumacher, 34, late Monday after questioning the couple. A subsequent search of their........

I've been going into the grocery stores I frequent with high hopes recently, only to be disappointed. Gas prices are dropping—costing half what they were less than a year ago. And when food prices spiraled up earlier this year, food manufacturers explained that as gas prices rose, transportation costs rose with them.
So, I wondered, shouldn't food prices fall now? If you've been wondering why, too, I offer up a couple of possible explanations. First, from the Danville, Ill., Commercial News:
. . . the fuel price drop is almost one-sided. While gas moves downward by jumps, the price of diesel is taking a much conservative route. Recent prices in Danville averaged just under $2.90 per gallon earlier this week.
I understand about the difference between diesel and gas. Yes, diesel is staying persistently higher than gas fuel. But it's still down from highs that hovered close to $5 per gallon earlier this summer.
Another possible explanation: Fertilizer is petroleum-based. Crops this summer were planted when gas and diesel were much higher, as was fertilizer. So farmers still paid more for base costs this planting season, even though transportation costs to bring their products to market have dropped.
Here's one final thought, courtesy of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
Our problem started with oil prices but continues because of the terrible damage which occurred. Couple with that the World's condition and it doesn't look to good. This makes one realize how good we really had it.I've been going into the grocery stores I frequent with high hopes recently, only... more

India is in something of a state of shock after learning from official sources that its first Hindu terror cell may have carried out a series of deadly bombings that were initially blamed on militant Muslims. The revelation is forcing the country to consider some difficult questions.
At least 10 people have been arrested in connection with several bomb blasts in the Muslim-dominated town of Malegaon in the western state of Maharashtra in September, which left six people dead. But reports suggest that police believe the cell may also have carried out a number of previous attacks, including last year's notorious bombing of a cross-border train en route to Pakistan, which killed 68 people. Among the alleged members of the cell are a serving army officer and a Hindu monk.
Bomb attacks are not uncommon in India – there has been a flurry in recent months – but police usually blame them on Muslim extremists, often said to have links to militant groups based in either Pakistan or Bangladesh. As a result, the recent cracking of the alleged Hindu cell has forced India to face some difficult issues. A country that prides itself on purported religious and cultural toleration – an ambition that in reality often falls short – has been made to ask itself how this cell could operate for so long. India's military, which prides itself on its professionalism, has been forced to order an embarrassing inquiry.
The near-daily drip of revelations from police has also caused red faces for India's main political opposition, the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ahead of state polls and a general election scheduled for early next year. The BJP and its prime ministerial candidate, Lal Krishna Advani, have long accused the Congress Party-led government of being soft on terrorism that involved Muslims. However, the BJP has refused to call for a clampdown on Hindu groups, and last week Mr Advani even criticised the police over the way they questioned one of the alleged cell members, a woman called Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.

MUMBAI, India – India demanded that Pakistan hand over suspected terrorists believed living in the country — including its most-wanted man — as diplomatic wrangling between the nuclear rivals intensified Tuesday following the deadly Mumbai attacks.
A list of about 20 names was given to Pakistan's high commissioner to India during a meeting Monday night, Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters.
India has already demanded Pakistan take "strong action" against those responsible for the attacks, and the U.S. has pressured Islamabad to cooperate.
The moves come as the government faces widespread accusations of security and intelligence failures after suspected Muslim militants carried out a three-day attack across India's financial capital, killing 172 people and wounding 239.
The 10 gunmen had trained for months in camps operated by a banned Pakistani militant group before slipping into Mumbai from the sea, the only known surviving attacker told police.
India's foreign intelligence agency received information as recently as September that Pakistan-based terrorists were plotting attacks against Mumbai targets, according to a government intelligence official familiar with the matter.MUMBAI, India – India demanded that Pakistan hand over suspected terrorists... more

The owner of the Taj Mahal hotel says the Mumbai hotel had been warned of a possible terrorist attack prior to this week's deadly terror assault.
Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata would not provide details about the warning or the security measures that were enacted as a result, but he told CNN that they were eased in the days before gunmen entered the hotel.
Tata also told CNN's Fareed Zakaria that even if the security precautions had still been in place, they wouldn't have stopped the gunmen because they entered the building through a rear door that does not have a metal detector.
"If I look at what we had ... it could not have stopped what took place," Tata said. "It's ironic that we did have such a warning, and we did have some measures. People couldn't park their cars in the portico, where you had to go through a metal detector. They knew what they were doing, and they did not go through the front. All of our arrangements are in the front. They planned everything," he said of the attackers. "I believe the first thing they did, they shot a sniffer dog and his handler. They went through the kitchen."
Tata said the terrorists were very organized and moved with detailed precision.
"They seemed to know [the hotel] in the night or in the daytime. They seemed to have planned their moves quite well, and there seem to have been a lot of pre-planning."The owner of the Taj Mahal hotel says the Mumbai hotel had been warned of a possible... more

MUMBAI, India – 9:21 p.m. Wednesday, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus __ Two young men walk casually through Mumbai's main railway station, a worn Victorian hulk bustling with late commuters heading home, scurrying past small food stands and juice bars and vendors selling newspapers. They enter near the taxi stand, where long lines of battered black and yellow cabs wait for fares. One wears khaki cargo pants and a blue T-shirt. A pair of small knapsacks are slung over a shoulder. He looks like a college kid.
They are, says a photographer who follows them on part of their grim journey, "backpackers with assault rifles."
The two — and other death squads working in pairs — are to wreak carnage in landmark after landmark across Mumbai over the next three days, creating panic in this normally unflappable city and killing more than 195 people.

Increasingly these days, we hear about Islamic fundamentalism from the Western media, the policy makers and many an intellectual. The term has gained so much currency that it deserves some serious scrutiny. It needs our attention especially because it is the Western rendition of Islam, and not an expression which Muslims have anything to do with. Apparently, it seems to imply that there is what you may call fundamentalist Islam as distinct from non-fundamentalist Islam. It seems to emphasize that there are those among Muslims who believe in the basic principles of Islam and there are those who do not.
So far, there have been only two sects in Islam - Shia and Sunni. The adherents of both agree that the Qur'an is the word of the Almighty as revealed to the Prophet Muhammadp. Both share the belief that the Prophet Muhammadp was the last of all the prophets. Further, both proclaim that Islam constitutes an ideology which goes far beyond mere praying, and that it provides universal principles for all crucial aspects of social life.
Despite this broad agreement between the two, relationships between the Shias and the Sunnis have been far from easy over the centuries to say the least. Now this interjection of fundamentalist/non-fundamentalist dichotomy might create a four fold sectarianism: the Shia fundamentalists and the Shia non-fundamentalists; the Sunni fundamentalists and the Sunni non-fundamentalists. Should this differentiation be allowed to take root in modern Islam, it would be an artifact of the West and not due to any intrinsic reasons within the community of Islam itself. Naturally, a closer look at this new expression is in order. What does fundamentalism mean and why is it being used in the context of Islam by the Western media and the policy makers? We shall address ourselves to these questions in this chapter.

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The bodies of five hostages were found on Friday after Indian security forces attacked gunmen at a Jewish religious centre in Mumbai, an Israeli diplomat told Israeli television by telephone from the scene.

"The incident has not ended," Haim Choshen told Channel 2. "Five bodies of hostages have been found inside the Chabad House. We still don't know whose bodies."
Also, an Israeli rescue service run by Orthodox Jews said its staff sent to Mumbai to help believed that hostages in the Chabad Centre had died.
"Apparently the hostages did not remain alive," the Zaka service said in a brief statement quoting its staff in Mumbai. It did not identify the hostages nor say how many may have died.
India's National Security Guards chief J.K. Dutt told Indian television that the commandos had killed two militants in operations at the center.
"We have neutralised two terrorists," Dutt said. "Along with that we have also found two bodies. Those bodies appear to be of hostages."
How many innocent people have to die before the United Nations takes this problem seriously? Apparently anti Jewish sentiment and anti American sentiment are so prevalent in The United Nations that this is looked at by them as business as usual. Global terrorism isn't just our problem, if the rest of the world doesn't take this serious what are we supposed to do? This to me says that The United Nations is just a play money fund for third world countries and we should not adhere to anything they say.MUMBAI (Reuters) - The bodies of five hostages were found on Friday after Indian... more

Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday finally got the broad consensus he sought on the Status of Forces Agreement with the U.S. - 149 of the 198 lawmakers present in the 275-member National Assembly gave their support to a deal that allows American forces to remain in Iraq until the end of 2011. But Iraq's legislators also put the prime minister on notice: "We want to tell Maliki that we are building a new democracy, and that we're not ready anymore to let the power be in one man's hands, no matter who he is," said Abdel-Bari al-Zebari, a Kurdish lawmaker.
It is fairly apparent that the Iraqi's can't handle Governing themselves yet. The question is why not? And how do they plan to accomplish this? And....are they going to pay our expenses? Giving them their chance at freedom is one thing, breaking our own back in the process is yet another. There is plenty of oil money to rebuild their infrastructure and to pay us for our time. I think this should be a stipulation. The leaders in power have much to gain from success, and much to loose from failure. So...let them put their money where their mouth is.Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday finally got the broad consensus... more

OOPS! Jewish community leaders received an invite to a Hanukkah party at the White House - with an image of a Christmas tree.
Merry Hanukkah from the White House!
The president and the first lady invited leaders of America's Jewish community for a Hanukkah reception at the White House next month - but raised more than a few eyebrows by putting a picture of a Christmas tree on the invitation.
The message reads that the couple "requests the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," written beneath an image of a Clydesdale horse hauling a Christmas fir along the snow-dappled drive to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

MUMBAI, India – Teams of heavily armed gunmen stormed luxury hotels, a popular restaurant and a crowded train station in coordinated attacks across India's financial capital Wednesday night, killing at least 78 people and taking Westerners hostage, police said. An explosion followed by a raging fire struck one of the hotels, the landmark Taj Mahal, early Thursday. Screams could be heard and enormous clouds of black smoke rose from the at the century-old edifice on Mumbai's waterfront. Firefighters were spraying water at the blaze.
The attackers specifically targeted Britons and Americans, witnesses said. Fires burned and gunfire was heard for hours. Officials said at least 200 people were wounded.
The motive for the onslaught was not immediately clear, but Mumbai has frequently been targeted in terrorist attacks blamed on Islamic extremists, including a series of bombings in July 2007 that killed 187 people.
An Indian media report said a previously unknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen had claimed responsibility for the attacks in e-mails to several media outlets.

CNNMoney.com) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday proposed emergency assistance for small business endangered by America's financial crisis, calling for a "small business rescue plan" of tax incentives and loans.
"Small businesses employ half of the workers in the private sector in this country, and account for the majority of the job growth. But we also know that a credit crunch has dried up capital and put these jobs at risk - shops can't finance their inventories, and small firms can't make payroll," Obama said at a rally in Chillicothe, Ohio. "If we don't act, we'll be looking at scaled back operations, shuttered shops, and laid-off workers."
This is just part of what Barack Obama said in October. Now this, as well as all the other promises are put on the back burner. WOW, the Left's worst fear is going to be realized by their own guy. As small businesses fail all over America, Obama focuses on saving BIG, BLOATED, IRRESPONSIBLE, CORPORATIONS well isn't that nice and Republican of him. As I watch my business of eighteen years slip through my fingers from the lack of a few thousand dollars. It fills me with wonderment how someone who promised to help the middle class is preoccupied with only the rich. Re: Which Promises Will President Obama Abandon
with 2 comments
A week before the election, I predicted that despite his daily sniping at McCain for wanting to “continue George Bush’s tax policies” and give “more tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans,” he was just kidding.
“The most politically dangerous and economically ruinous idea pushed by Obama on the campaign trail is the redistribution of income,” I wrote.
Should Obama push through his tax plan, coupled with the expensive new entitlements he wants to give to the lower class, he will immediately alarm Americans. His intellect, the wisdom of his advisors, and the fact that none of his supporters will care tells me that this idea will be quickly jettisoned by the incoming President. The economy, and his party, will be the better for it.
From yesterday’s NY Times:
In light of the downturn, Mr. Obama is also said to be reconsidering a key campaign pledge: his proposal to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. According to several people familiar with the discussions, he might instead let those tax cuts expire as scheduled in 2011, effectively delaying any tax increase while he gives his stimulus plan a chance to work.
Andre suggested that Obama might declare in January that the economy was worse than he thought, and rethink his promises. I said, no, it would be in December. I was off by a week. My apologies.
I hate to say "I TOLD YOU SO" but, it's in the archives anyway. LOL He had to sacrifice all you wonderful leftwingers, and he even had the SACK to do it before taking office. BOLD ,that one. But, maybe us some of us little people will get some of the 7 trillion? NOTThe Constitution Club

An economic crisis, rising joblessness and a credit squeeze can make a president-elect refine his words. Today's word is "repeal." During his presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised to repeal President George W. Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy ahead of their scheduled expiration in 2011.
It was part of how Obama would pay for an overall net tax cut aimed at low- and middle-income taxpayers, and an effort to bring what he called "fairness" to the tax system.
No one is talking tax hikes now.
Over the weekend, Obama said he has charged his new economic team with devising a plan that would create or preserve 2.5 million jobs over two years. He said the plan would include broad spending plans as well as the middle- and low-income tax cuts he described during the campaign.
Aides later said the plan would not include any of the tax increases Obama, as a candidate, had said he would impose on taxpayers who make more than $250,000.
I see that President Elect Obama just took a reality pill. Probably when his economic advisers said WTF ? Raise taxes in a Depression? On the Rich? The ones who generate the cash flow? The ones who can REALLY move to a different country. See...If he really was the MESSIAH he would just do an Irish jig and fix everything. An economic crisis, rising joblessness and a credit squeeze can make a... more
