Conservatives Cheer McCain’s VP Pick

Sen. John McCain’s pick for his vice-presidential running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, drew loud cheers from opponents of legal abortion — and sent the left scurrying into strategy meetings.
Polls consistently show that abortion ranks far down on the issues most important to voters. One nonprofit that advocates for working-class women, 9to5, said its members are most concerned with getting paid sick days and achieving pay parity with men — issues that Sen. Hillary Clinton ran on and Sen. Barack Obama stressed, to rousing cheers, during his speech this week accepting the Democratic nomination.
Abortion-rights groups, however, think choice is a winning issue for them. They intend to hammer home the abortion issue in an intense outreach to independent and Republican women — with a special attention on suburban women in key swing states.
Activists in groups such as Planned Parenthood and the NARAL Pro-Choice America have long complained that too many voters mistakenly view Sen. McCain as a moderate on abortion. They have already launched an effort to expose his conservative stance, and intend to paint Gov. Palin as an anti-abortion extremist as well.
“John McCain’s choice…proves just how rigid and extreme his administration would be when it comes to a woman’s right to choose,” said Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL.
But Ms. Palin’s personal story might make it a bit harder to attack her on this issue. In April, she gave birth to a son with Down syndrome.
As many as 90% of women who find out that they’re carrying a child with Down syndrome choose to abort. Ms. Palin was told mid-pregnancy that her son would have the genetic abnormality, which can affect both physical and intellectual development, but chose to welcome him into her family. In a statement after baby Trig’s birth, she and her husband, Todd, said they had “faith that every baby is created for a good purpose.”
Since that birth, Ms. Palin “has taken on a heroic status among people who value the sanctity of life,” said Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
“Not only does she talk pro-life, she lives pro-life,” said Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission.
Some of the most forceful voices in the pro-life movement also strongly believe that a mother should stay home with her children while they’re young. Radio psychologist James Dobson, founder of the ministry Focus on the Family, often urges that course, though on Friday he released a statement praising Gov. Palin as an “outstanding” choice for vice president. (Mr. Dobson declined to comment further.) Other prominent evangelicals also encourage a return to traditional “Biblical” family roles, saying that a woman’s highest calling is to take care of the children and the home.
So Ms. Palin’s decision to accept the nomination for vice president just four months after the birth of her disabled son gave pause to a few conservatives. But just for a moment.
“If I were her pastor, I’d be very concerned for her and her family,” Mr. Mohler said. “But it looks as though she’s found a way to integrate it all in a way that works.”
“It’s a mixed blessing, because she has a young child,” said Mark Liederbach, a Christian ethicist and strong supporter of traditional family roles. “There’s a little bit of concern… but she has older children who can help out.”
Others on the right say it’s sexist to suggest a woman can’t raise a family and work — or seek high political office, or serve as commander in chief, if the need arises. “She’s more the example of the modern woman than the Gloria Steinems of days past,” said Jill Stanek, a conservative blogger popular with the pro-life community. “She can handle it.”

How exactly do you quantify if and how much someone benefited from "history of systemic racism?" I would argue that Jessie Jackson , Jr. has benefited from history of racism. There are always those who benefit from the success of their ancestors, but this is not related to race. Stop blaming other because it just makes you and your children LAZY. Its easier to blame others than to go to work, study hard, and succeed. maybe the white man has a better work ethic because his ancestors had to earn everything with hard work, sweat, and passed this down through the generations. On October 26, 1967, McCain's A-4 Skyhawk was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile, landing in North Vietnam's Truc Bach Lake, near Hanoi. McCain broke both arms and a leg after ejecting from his plane.[9] After he regained consciousness, a mob gathered around him, spat on him, kicked him and stripped him of his clothing. He was then tortured by soldiers from North Vietnam, who crushed his shoulder with the butt of a rifle and bayoneted him in his left foot and abdominal area. He was then transported to the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the Hanoi Hilton.[10][9] There he shared a cell with Bud Day, a highly decorated POW who helped nurse McCain.[11]
Once McCain arrived at the prison, he was placed in a cell and interrogated daily. When McCain refused to provide any information to his captors, he was beaten until he lost consciousness.[12]
When it was discovered his father was the Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Command, (CINCPAC), commander of all U.S. forces in Vietnam, he was offered a chance to return home. McCain turned down the offer of repatriation due to his belief in the principle of "first in, first out": he would only accept the offer if every man taken in before him was released as well.[13]

That line didn’t fly because Obama brought his kids to that church. You don’t willingly subject your children to cursing, filthy, unpatriotic preachers unless you agree with the preacher. The Obama Voter – Not This Jew

Why does this matter?
It matters to me because the Holocaust in which the Nazis wantonly murdered six million Jews in the 1930s and ‘40s has been the defining event of my life – the event against which I measure the political philosophies and actions of both individuals and nations.
I was a baby when that blight on human history took place, but I fully appreciate that if my twin brother and I had been born in Germany during the ghastly Nazi reign, we would have been victims of the unspeakable “experiments” of Dr. Mengele.
It matters to me because the wretched survivors of the Holocaust, against all odds – including ships of refugees that were turned back from our own shores by FDR, only to be returned to the death camps – somehow managed to arrive in their ancient homeland and create one of the most vibrant democracies in the world, whose advanced scientific institutions contribute to research and development of medicines, therapies, technology and cures for the world’s devastating horrors
It matters because Israel, the locus of Jewish prayer and survival, is but a sliver of land, not much larger than 8,000 square miles, which is comparable to New Jersey, our 5th-smallest state. This tiny country is populated by six million Jews and one-million Arabs and surrounded by 22 Arab Muslim states with a population of over 300-million – most of them dedicated to Israel’s annihilation, the rest sly participants in the charade of a “peace process.”
While Israel’s Arab minority is accorded full citizenship and education, freedom of speech, congregation, religious autonomy and even participation in Israel’s parliament, the Arab nations that surround it – including Jordan and Egypt, which are ostensibly at peace with Israel – afford Jews absolutely no rights and no protection.
Again, why does this matter? It matters to me because, for millennia, “wandering” Jews were deprived of living in their homeland and destined to travel the earth looking for safety and freedom, only to be subjected to – where to begin? – the Crusades, the Inquisition, European pogroms, and the Holocaust. Only America, from its inception a mere 232 years ago, welcomed the Jews, until the State of Israel was born in 1948, becoming the last best hope of a people whose manifest destiny was spelled out to them in the Bible.
Today, there is a worldwide renaissance of anti-Semitism, including on the campuses of our own country, in the ranting of various “religious” leaders, in the literature of some of America’s so-called intelligentsia, and, yes, even in the Congress of the United States.
Yet again, why does this matter? It matters to me because unlike the purveyors of Islamic jihad and their brothers and sisters in suicide-bombing, death-adoring ideology, I love life and don’t want to see our country succumb to the encroaching horrors of Sharia law (including ”honor killings”), Sharia finance (in which money must be donated to Islamic charities, including those that promote Jihad and suicide bombing), or any of the other Islamic-dictated demands that are utterly anathema to and in egregious violation of both U.S. law and the freedoms cherished by all Americans.
LET ME COUNT THE WAYS
It would have been enough for me not to vote for Obama, knowing that he is the most liberal politician in the U.S. Congress, as judged by the non-partisan National Journal and based on the cold hard facts of his far-left voting record.
It would have been enough for me not to vote for Obama, knowing that he has zero experience in foreign policy and has never managed or run anything of substance that requires executive experience – not a company, not an agency, not even a senate committee!
