Washed-up musician, Elvis Costello, Appeases Hamas and its Supporters by Boycotting Israel

Most JIDF supporters probably have no clue who this guy is, as they are younger and this guy is old, washed-up, and irrelevant. The only thing that made him somewhat cool at one point was appearing on SNL with the Beastie Boys. In any event, he has chosen to appease Hamas, and its supporters by boycotting the Jewish State, apparently in support of Israel's destruction, or in fear of supporting the existence of Jews and our Homeland.

RNC Candidate Distributes Song Titled "Barack the Magic Negro" as a "Joke"

let's just call him a nigger and sing Jimmy Cracked Corn while were at it. all in good spirits right? Hopefully this "candidate" we'll be strung up by the other republicans. If not...well...it will say something about how far that part of our country has come (the white conservative part I mean). Favorite part? calling anything on the limbaugh show "light-hearted." Limbaugh is more hyper aggressive than...oh...me i suppose. and that's going pretty far. anyways...his name is "Chip" so I suppose no one should expect too much from him in terms of intellect.

RNC candidate Chip Saltsman’s Christmas greeting to committee members includes a music CD with lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro,” first played on Rush Limbaugh’s popular radio show.

Saltsman, a personal friend of conservative satirist Paul Shanklin, sent a 41-track CD along with a note to national committee members. “I look forward to working together in the New Year,” Saltsman wrote. “Please enjoy the enclosed CD by my friend Paul Shanklin of the Rush Limbaugh Show.”

The CD, called “We Hate the USA,” lampoons liberals with such songs as “John Edwards’ Poverty Tour,” “Wright place, wrong pastor,” “Love Client #9,” “Ivory and Ebony” and “The Star Spanglish banner.”

Several of the track titles, including “Barack the Magic Negro,” are written in bold font.

The song, which debuted on Limbaugh’s show in late March 2007, latches onto an opinion column in the Los Angeles Times of the same title. That column, penned by cultural critic David Ehrenstein, argued that Obama could serve as a balm to whites who felt guilty about past treatment of African Americans.

Limbaugh first highlighted the column the day it ran, according to a contemporary report by Media Matters, the liberal watchdog agency. Media Matters reported Limbaugh repeated the phrase more than two dozen times the day the column ran.

The following month, Shanklin debuted his version of the song, sung to the tune of “Puff the Magic Dragon” and performed in Shanklin’s impression of Al Sharpton.

“See, real black men, like Snoop Dogg, or me, or Farrakhan, have talked the talk, and walked the walk, not come in late and won,” one verse in the song says.

Saltsman said he meant nothing untoward by forwarding what amounts to a joke more at Ehrenstein’s expense than at Obama’s.

“Paul Shanklin is a long-time friend, and I think that RNC members have the good humor and good sense to recognize that his songs for the Rush Limbaugh show are light-hearted political parodies,” Saltsman said.

Republicans searching for ways to attack Obama have been hesitant to embrace any reference to his race. I am ashamed of America

The national ballot results are in, and let me tell you--I am disgusted and ashamed of my fellow "Americans". Ballot measure after ballot measure, bigotry won by a narrow margin.

How dare anyone who voted against same-sex marriage call themselves Americans? Or those voting to keep same-sex couples from adopting children? How DARE you?

How dare you burn our Constitution and Bill of Rights, how dare you toss aside everything this country is supposed to stand for? Whatever happened to equality under the law? What deranged, hateful idea got into your heads that you had the right to control the personal relationships of others? Whether it be in the name of God, family, or tradition, the real reason was hate.

America is not a free country, it seems, and only half the country desires it to be free. The rest of you, it seems, would prefer an ultra-right wing country where "freedom" is only allowed for the Christian, conservative, traditional minority.

If marriage is not a right guaranteed to all consensual adults, who are engaged in legal relationships (remember, folks, homosexual relationships ARE legal!), then it is not a right for you, either. Supporters of the bans against gay marriage, I'm sure you would gladly give up your 'privelege' to be married, then? Until you've earned it as a group?

You bigoted, hateful people amaze me...

Many of you whined and said that you weren't against gays, but you were for children and families. You used children for your hateful, bigoted politics. Any idea who else did this?

That's right, Adolf Hitler.

Adolf Hitler, too, claimed to want to "defend" marriage. He himself used children for his own political gains, and perhaps that's where the campaigners for these freedom-killing measures got their strategy: you can convince a population of anything, he said, by doing it in the name of the children. He brainwashed children into singing for his cause (sound familiar?) and used the cause of children and family as a cover for his policies.

Hitler, too, hated gays, though he took it a step further and killed thousands of them because they didn't fit into his narrow worldview. It was done in the name of family, children, and traditional "morals".

When 52% of the people get to tell the rest how to live their lives, you know freedom is dead. I only hope that someday, 52% of the people strip you of your rights to be married. You deserve it.

26th Parallel: Video: Miami in the Early 80s

I received this interesting and very disturbing video below via e-mail several days. The 6+ minute video looks back at the crime wave which hit Miami in the late 70s and early 80s, right around the time of the infamous Time Magazine article "Paradise Lost". A central theme of the video is the supposed role played by Colombian drug traffickers and people who came to Miami via the Mariel boatlift of 1980 in the sharp increase in homicides during that era.
A little context: the video was posted by a group called Immigration Control Florida (ICF), whose opening paragraph on their website states:

ImmigrationControlFlorida.com / ICF requests that Americans join our group to support our stated goals to save America. Our group worked to stop the 125,000 Mariel Cuban refugees that illegally invaded Miami-Dade County that destroyed Miami with 50,000 murderers, psychopaths, criminals, criminally insane, hitmen, drug pushers, and enforcers making "Miami the murder capital of the world" with 615 murders in only 1 year with so many bodies that the Miami Medical Examiner had to rent a refrigerated truck to store the excess bodies at a cost of $150 million in 1 year making "Miami a 3rd World Country" ! (U.S.News & World Report -Jan.16, 1984 - page 29).

Let me make something totally clear: I am against illegal immigration, but ICF doesn't even try to conceal their disdain for any immigrant group, in particular Cubans from Mariel. Yes, there were criminals mixed in with regular folks who came over via Mariel. Yes, there was a strain on the services the Miami community could provide, but I don't know where and how ICF got the "50,000" number they use to slime an entire community. As we know, the collective group from Mariel has turned out to be yet another in the long tradition of Cuban-American success stories, despite the initial shock of Miami having to absorb 125,000 new arrivals in Miami in only a few short months.

In short, ICF sounds like nothing more than a bunch of bigots and racists who give reasonable folks' objections to illegal immigration a bad name (as well as provide unnecessary fodder to those who feel naturally inclined to bash anything resembling securing borders).

Some of the quotes in the video are quite over-the-top and no doubt representative of the ethnic conflict which gripped Miami during that time. Riots in Liberty City in 1980, Mariel a few months later, passing of "English Only" ordinances in Miami, huge law enforcement scandals. It was a pretty turbulent time. For those of you who weren't here during that time, it's worth your time to view the video below. For those of you who feel that Miami and South Florida are currently living through bad times never seen before, the video offers some much needed perspective.
