– 1) Republicans not only want to reduce women’s access to abortion care, they’re actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven’t yet. Shocker.
2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to “accuser.” But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain “victims.”
3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)– 1) Republicans not only want to reduce women’s access to abortion care,... more

Wisconsin Senate Republicans just rammed through a bill taking away workers' rights. It's shameful, unprecedented, and probably illegal. We can't let them get away with this. We have to recall the Republican state senators who did this.
Progressives in Wisconsin have already gathered thousands of signatures to do just that, but they need our help to get the job done.
Can you help make sure these senators lose their seats over their outrageous actions by chipping in $25 to the Wisconsin Democratic Party, which is organizing the recall efforts right now?
And if you can, chip in to MoveOn to help us keep fighting to save the American Dream in Wisconsin and across the country.

The Rand Paul supporter who was caught on camera stepping on the head of a MoveOn activist has been charged with fourth-degree assault, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.
Timothy Mark Profitt, 53, is charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault after he stomped on Lauren Valle's head and neck. Profitt "intentionally placed his foot on the shoulder/head region on the victim," a criminal summons says. The newspaper reported that court records say Profitt will be arraigned Nov. 18. Such a charge carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail, a $500 fine, or a combination of both, the newspaper reported.
Earlier, Profitt went so far as to ask her for an apology. "I don't think it's that big of a deal," Profitt said. "I would like for her to apologize to me to be honest with you."
Valle said that no apology is coming. "I believe that you should be held accountable for your actions but I also recognize the incredibly negative impact that the consequences must be having on your life, and I wish you all the best as you yourself heal from this," she wrote. "Violence hurts everyone."
The stomping -- which came on outside the final Kentucky Senate debate on Monday -- has been a major focus of the campaign over the last several days. Democrat Jack Conway has even used the stomping video in an ad.

Last week we talked about Billionaires for Wealthcare. I received this transmission from their organization:
The latest incarnation of the "Billionaire" meme, "Billionaires for
Wealthcare" struck again this weekend, as Healthcare Inc. CEOs in tuxedos and gowns "thanked" Tea-baggers for coming out for Glenn Beck's March on Washington this past Saturday.
Tea-baggers eagerly joined in on Billionaire chants of "Bring Back Bush!" and “Fight Socialism! Abolish Medicare Now!”, but the greatest crowd pleaser (and provoker) of the day, was a stirring rendition of their original song "Let's Save the Status Quo" sung to the tune of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and memorably captured in this music video. We were recently featured by Rachel Maddow.
Watch as we thank our confused Tea-bagger friends for protecting 'our' right to deny their claims.
The Billionaires use Voltairian satire at protests to show that some of the only beneficiaries of the current health care system, are the executives.
The Billionaires have been at work for over a decade, relishing in photo ops and editorials, hoping that their spectacle gets picked up by third-party news agencies.
Today Funny or Die and MoveOn released this satirical PSA
[funnyordie 041b5acaf5]
It shares the same message as the work of the Billionaires. But their approach is a different theatre on the war for universal health care. Will Ferrell and company are using their fame and viral reach to push this message out to millions of people.
Using satirical internet video for massive social change is something that only became a reality in the past few years. Faster computers, ubiquity of web content, and mainstream attention to internet phenomena, are all factors that make this a viable approach to enacting change.
Funny or Die celebrity exclusives always become viral. MoveOn's newsletter reaches 3.3 million people. Together they might have the potential to provide a counter argument to Glenn Beck's legion of Tea-Baggers.
Celebrities will get this idea out, but we should never forget that the Billionaires are on the front-line in this satirical strategy for social change.Last week we talked about Billionaires for Wealthcare. I received this transmission... more

MoveOn has been very involved in the health care debate with fundraising emails and pushes against conservative Democrats who would filibuster the legislation, but now the progressive group is asking its members to fight the bill as a "massive giveaway to the insurance companies."
MoveOn asked members to sign a petition asking progressive senators such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to block the bill unless it's improved.
"America needs real health care reform--not a massive giveaway to the insurance companies. Senator Bernie Sanders and other progressives should block this bill until it's fixed," the petition reads, later naming Sens. Roland Burris (D-IL) and Russ Feingold (D-WI) as other progressives who might be swayed.
"But there's enormous pressure from all sides to pass a bill quickly, no matter how weak it is," the email says. "Let's show Bernie and other progressives that we're counting on them to block this version of the bill--and we'll get their backs if they do."
The MoveOn team says there is still a chance to "win" the health care fight and said the House bill is strong and has "a real public option."MoveOn has been very involved in the health care debate with fundraising emails and... more

With the recent release of his album "Untitled", rapper Nas is more of an activist than ever. I has recently joined the ColorOfChange and MoveOn organizations to peititon against media giant Fox News. Nas denounces the racist propaganda aired on the news channel by citing examples such as Bill O'Reilly's attack on Michelle Obama using the phrase "lynching party", the infamous "terrorist fist jab", Michelle Obama as the Barack's "baby mama". He said: "Fox poisons this country every time they air racist propaganda and try to call it news. This should outrage every American that Fox uses hateful language to talk about the person that may be the first black president."
With over 600,000 signatures, ColorOfChange demands that network president Roger Ailes "find a solution to address racial stereotyping and hate-mongering before it hits the airwaves." Fox rejected the petitions, but Brave New Films says that Comedy Central's The Colbert Report will accept them instead.
If you haven't seen Nas' "Sly Fox" video, check it out here on Current by typing "Nas Takes On Sly Fox" in the search box. With the recent release of his album "Untitled", rapper Nas is more of an... more
