By now, Raider Nation has probably already heard about all of the negatives that they can bear. From the rumors relating to the eventual Lane Kiffin firing to the recent possibility that they'll lose both Nnamdi Asomugha and Shane Lechler this coming offseason, the Nation's faith has taken a beating...By now, Raider Nation has probably already heard about all of the negatives that they... more

In part one of our Rebuilding the shield series, I explained the beginning of the raising of the Titanic that is the Oakland Raiders. In no way, shape, or form are we saying that this is the only way it will work. This is just one way that we believe will help turn the Raiders around and put then back on top of the NFL world.....In part one of our Rebuilding the shield series, I explained the beginning of the... more

Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan come to Oakland to face the Raiders for the first time since both packed their bags and took the cross-country trip to New England to become Patriots. When this game was originally put on the schedule, many in Raider Nation salivated at the chance to see a much improved Raiders team send them both home as they were in silver and black - losers...Randy Moss and Lamont Jordan come to Oakland to face the Raiders for the first time... more

You don't have to go far on the web before you begin seeing either A) Former Raiders talking publicly about how bad the Oakland organization is, B) Current Raiders making comments about their unhappiness with the way things are going, or C) Raider Nation bickering and calling each other out about differing opinions. When will the soap opera stop?...You don't have to go far on the web before you begin seeing either A) Former... more

I've been pretty hard on the silver and black over the past month. It's no secret; I was not in favor of the coaching change. I was even less in favor of Tom Cable being named 'interim' head coach. Although I like Cable, the best way to lose your best assistant coach is to promote them...

I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble remembering just how long ago it was that Al Davis pulled the DeLorean out of the garage, called up Christopher Lloyd and told him to grab his lab jacket, and then drove around looking for 1.21 gigawatts so that he could turn back the dial on the Oakland Raiders. After watching the Raiders BE the Big Easy in Louisiana on Sunday, I think that Al’s arthritic fingers didn’t turn the dial back enough...I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble... more

After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the Raiders will begin to show how well they’ve weathered the storm this Sunday. Ironically, they’ll be doing this in a place known best for the costliest and most destructive natural disaster in the history of the United States....After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the... more

Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his lack of knowledge, creativity, and clues especially, there was an interesting show on display between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. As you know, the Saints are next up on the Raiders hit-list and every media outlet is sure to tell you that they have absolutely no chance in New Orleans. From what was on display Monday Night, you could make a great case for exactly that. I’m not sold....Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his... more

Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, what is it that the Oakland Raiders need to shore up before that winning can begin? The Raiders went into the bye-week ranked 19th in total offense, 25th in points per game, 17th in total defense, and 22nd in points allowed per game. Nobody can deny that the Raiders are better than at least eight teams in the NFL, but if they plan to be one of the top eight in the AFC they’ll have to figure out ways to get better on both sides of the ball....Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220... more

Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already formed their opinions on one of this week’s biggest stories of the week - along with the bailout, the V.P. debate and now O.J. getting convicted and going to prison possibly for life. The story of Al and Lane is over, but left behind is the same question that the Raiders have been facing since Bill Callahan was fired over five years ago: Will the Raiders ever win again?...Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already... more

We’ve heard it all before. We’re hearing it again, and the song keeps playing like a broken record. “We’re close. We’ve just got to keep working and we’ll figure it out.“ At this point, Raider Nation could collaboratively write a country music smash hit. At least that record hasn’t been heard yet. If Kiffin is fired, Raider Nation could be hearing that record played again, and again, and again over the next several years...We’ve heard it all before. The Oakland Raiders got another loss, this time to the Buffalo Bills. The Raiders outplayed the Bills for the better part of three quarters only to give the game away to the Bills 24-23. As he did last week against Kansas City, once the Raiders were fully in control and on their way to a second straight win, Rob Ryan pulled out his 4th quarter playbook....The Oakland Raiders got another loss, this time to the Buffalo Bills. Our good friend Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Lane Kiffin and Al Davis will be meeting tonight. There’s no word on what the meeting is about for now, but you can guess that it might have something to do with Kiffin’s outing of his defensive coordinator and his continued strife with the boss. We’ll keep you informed if any news comes out....Our good friend Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Lane Kiffin and Al... more

Sometimes you just have to curse. The saying goes, that a person using curse words reveals their lack of intelligence. I don’t necessarily agree with that line of thinking. If it were true, you’d have to account for every man or woman who has ever been a sailor, because nobody curses like a drunken one.
Then again, we (sailors)...Sometimes you just have to curse. The saying goes, that a person using curse words... more

Alright, I haven’t slit my wrists or gone into a funk since the end of the live blog on Monday night. I just want to set the record straight on that front before anyone starts using the term ’sensitive’ about me…uh…hold on, I think it might be too late for that. However, I’m alive and well and completely finished with any and all ‘feelings’ that I may have had on Tuesday morning....Alright, I haven’t slit my wrists or gone into a funk since the end of the live... more

While sending my kid off to college this weekend, I realized that the Raiders marketing department is deficient when it comes to getting the games televised in Northern California. Going into last night’s game, there was plenty of concern over how good the Raiders really were. Last week, they faced an opponent that wasn’t as good of a litmus test for how far they’ve come since last season. Both teams were in the bottom third of the league and it was still the first preseason game, so neither team played their starters long....Going into last night’s game, there was plenty of concern over how good the... more

Some of our hater friends have been harping about how the score of the preseason games don’t matter. While to a certain extent, I agree, I don’t wholeheartedly follow that train of thought. While it’s not important that the Raiders win the game, I don’t want anyone on my team that doesn’t think that it’s important. Does that make sense?...Some of our hater friends have been harping about how the score of the preseason games... more

Preseason games are nothing more than a double edged sword for coaches. One edge, the blunt one, is the improvement of the team and for getting everyone on the same page prior to the season. Yesterday prior to the game, many of us were saying that there were no bragging rights over a preseason game. I agreed, expecting the game to be close in every way. I didn’t expect to see what I did, a complete domination over a 49er team that is definitely in transition on offense, and still not cohesive on defense. I’m not saying go out and run smack over the win, but there’s no reason not to feel confident that the team is rolling along in the right direction...Yesterday prior to the game, many of us were saying that there were no bragging rights... more
