D. Billy walks the streets of Brooklyn, viewing the world through an artist’s eyes. He sets out searching for sites to activate – abandoned artifacts of the urban landscape that demand interpretation and artistic intervention. To most, an old A/C unit is an eyesore; to D. Billy, that A/C unit is begging to be given new life as a cartoon TV screen. An old bell, long ago silenced, is given a new voice once D. Billy adds comic sound effect lettering to it. D. Billy is on a mission to bring new life to a decayed urban landscape, one site intervention at a time.
This short experimental documentary was shot in Brooklyn in the Winter of 2008. The goal of the film was to give the audience insight into the imaginative mind of an artist and follow him through his artistic process. The film also seeks to take D. Billy’s Site Interventions to life through stop-motion animation and other experimental shooting and editing techniques.

Scott G. Brooks is one of Washington, DC's most accomplished artists. He paints cartoonish figures in lifelike form and his paintings are crafted with layer upon layer of commentary.
I produced this profile last year (2008) as Scott Brooks was preparing for his show "Under the Skin", which literally focused on skin tone and figuratively explored issues of identity.
Shot on a Canon HV30. Another no-budget production with the goal of displaying DC's art beyond the borders of the nation's capital.Scott G. Brooks is one of Washington, DC's most accomplished artists. He paints... more
A short documentary about DC-based artist Billy Colbert shot between July and December 2007 (before the DC real estate market cooled).
Billy Colbert worked from his studio in an abandoned warehouse at the corner of 14th and T streets in Washington, DC. At the time, the location couldn't be any hotter in terms of its development potential... So Billy could only occupy this space temporarily while the owners of the building searched for development opportunities for their property.
In the meantime, Billy created a series of art, called "Corporate Merger" that examines commercialism in our culture. He combined imagery from bus stop ads, cutting and pasting from various posters to create new posters with ironic new meaning.
