I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble remembering just how long ago it was that Al Davis pulled the DeLorean out of the garage, called up Christopher Lloyd and told him to grab his lab jacket, and then drove around looking for 1.21 gigawatts so that he could turn back the dial on the Oakland Raiders. After watching the Raiders BE the Big Easy in Louisiana on Sunday, I think that Al’s arthritic fingers didn’t turn the dial back enough...I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble... more

After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the Raiders will begin to show how well they’ve weathered the storm this Sunday. Ironically, they’ll be doing this in a place known best for the costliest and most destructive natural disaster in the history of the United States....After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the... more

Besides the exorbitant cost of Apple’s iPhone, the main reason that I never bought one was because I need a good excuse to NOT be connected. One thing about this job, it’s a sentence to hours in front of an LCD monitor and a countless amount of reading about your topic....Besides the exorbitant cost of Apple’s iPhone, the main reason that I never... more

You are no longer ‘in.’ Do you understand? No longer should you end a comment or a conversation with another citizen of Raider Nation using the phrase, “I’m in.” The famous phrase that Lane Kiffin brought with him is now…out. It has been replaced with Tom Cable’s mantra “1-0.” Cable was...You are no longer ‘in.’ Do you understand? No longer should you end a... more

Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his lack of knowledge, creativity, and clues especially, there was an interesting show on display between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. As you know, the Saints are next up on the Raiders hit-list and every media outlet is sure to tell you that they have absolutely no chance in New Orleans. From what was on display Monday Night, you could make a great case for exactly that. I’m not sold....Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his... more

Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, what is it that the Oakland Raiders need to shore up before that winning can begin? The Raiders went into the bye-week ranked 19th in total offense, 25th in points per game, 17th in total defense, and 22nd in points allowed per game. Nobody can deny that the Raiders are better than at least eight teams in the NFL, but if they plan to be one of the top eight in the AFC they’ll have to figure out ways to get better on both sides of the ball....Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220... more

Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already formed their opinions on one of this week’s biggest stories of the week - along with the bailout, the V.P. debate and now O.J. getting convicted and going to prison possibly for life. The story of Al and Lane is over, but left behind is the same question that the Raiders have been facing since Bill Callahan was fired over five years ago: Will the Raiders ever win again?...Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already... more

We’ve heard it all before. We’re hearing it again, and the song keeps playing like a broken record. “We’re close. We’ve just got to keep working and we’ll figure it out.“ At this point, Raider Nation could collaboratively write a country music smash hit. At least that record hasn’t been heard yet. If Kiffin is fired, Raider Nation could be hearing that record played again, and again, and again over the next several years...We’ve heard it all before. We’re hearing it again, and the song keeps... more

The Raiders face an up-hill battle this week as they’ll host the San Diego Chargers. The test has gotten tougher for the Raiders in recent days with the revelations of the Chargers health and their own lack of it. Justin Fargas, Seth Wand, and newly signed Ben Troupe are already expected to be on the inactive list and out of the game. Gerard Warren and Cooper CarlisleThe Raiders face an up-hill battle this week as they’ll host the San Diego... more

After the first game of the season, where the Raiders bombed out on Monday Night Football against the Broncos, it was pretty certain in many people’s minds that the Raiders weren’t going to worry about winning this season for a coach on the chopping block. We said as much here and many of the media pundits and former players said so as well. Since that time, we’ve seen inspired performances by a team that many consider an afterthought in the race for the playoffs, and since this team should be sitting near the top of the AFC West with a 2-1 record, the questions have come again and Kiffin had the answers....After the first game of the season, where the Raiders bombed out on Monday Night... more

The Oakland Raiders got another loss, this time to the Buffalo Bills. The Raiders outplayed the Bills for the better part of three quarters only to give the game away to the Bills 24-23. As he did last week against Kansas City, once the Raiders were fully in control and on their way to a second straight win, Rob Ryan pulled out his 4th quarter playbook....The Oakland Raiders got another loss, this time to the Buffalo Bills. Our good friend Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Lane Kiffin and Al Davis will be meeting tonight. There’s no word on what the meeting is about for now, but you can guess that it might have something to do with Kiffin’s outing of his defensive coordinator and his continued strife with the boss. We’ll keep you informed if any news comes out....Our good friend Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Lane Kiffin and Al... more

Sometimes you just have to curse. The saying goes, that a person using curse words reveals their lack of intelligence. I don’t necessarily agree with that line of thinking. If it were true, you’d have to account for every man or woman who has ever been a sailor, because nobody curses like a drunken one.
Then again, we (sailors)...Sometimes you just have to curse. The saying goes, that a person using curse words... more

Alright, I haven’t slit my wrists or gone into a funk since the end of the live blog on Monday night. I just want to set the record straight on that front before anyone starts using the term ’sensitive’ about me…uh…hold on, I think it might be too late for that. However, I’m alive and well and completely finished with any and all ‘feelings’ that I may have had on Tuesday morning....Alright, I haven’t slit my wrists or gone into a funk since the end of the live... more

Prior to seeing the added moves, I already had gone back and forth in my head about what type of message I wanted to post in this space regarding the Ashlie Lelie move. Let’s just say that it wasn’t the most complimentary message that I’ve ever thought up about the Raiders. If you follow the Raiders or are a fan of the Raiders, one thing is certain…nothing is ever what it seems to be. That’s definitely true of the latest moves as well...Prior to seeing the added moves, I already had gone back and forth in my head about... more

So you wanna’ know who’s going to make the team? Here at TFDS, we’d like to know too. We’d like to know so much that we decided to predict who’s in and leave the guys out that don’t belong. After often requesting through the media and getting support from Raider Nation, the media, and sites like this one, the Oakland Raiders have finally started to make a few transactions that may aid in the improvement of the team. Of the roster cuts, none really surprised except for the fact that there are still a few players, possibly on scholarship...After often requesting through the media and getting support from Raider Nation, the... more

While sending my kid off to college this weekend, I realized that the Raiders marketing department is deficient when it comes to getting the games televised in Northern California.
