Gio Gonzalez got his first Major League career start, unfortunately for him and the A’s, it was also his first career loss as well. The 22 year old pitcher, just called up from the Sacramento River Cats, pitched 6 innings, letting up 4 earned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks, and 1 home run while striking out 4 batters in the loss.
