Harry Potter's biggest supporters (at least when it comes to size) are Dumbledore and the giant Hagrid -- played by Michael Gambon and Robbie Coltrane, respectively. Taking advantage of the oversized chairs in Hagrid's Hut at the Harry Potter Exhibition in Times Square, recently, the two actors caught up with each other as well as other members of the Order of the Phoenix and Harry's surrogate family -- and in between, tried not to spill too many secrets about "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Part 1 (out on DVD April 15) and Part 2 (out in theaters July 15).

The Harry Potter books and films are monumental achievements, and while the review that follows is ostensibly about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1),” it is difficult (verging on impossible) to separate this part from the whole.
To begin, the books were -- you should pardon the expression -- magical, in that they captivated a generation of young people and made them (and their parents) read. Books. In print.
Then came the films. In every case, the adaptations were both excellent and faithful. More amazing, perhaps, is that the filmmakers were able to forge an ensemble of actors who stuck with the project for an entire decade -- always wearing undergarments in public, never imbibing in excess while in view of TMZ cameras and generally avoiding ego trips. The focus always remained firmly on the story, not the actors.

Police in Christchurch, New Zealand are after a burglar; they know who he is and they have his picture. But, because the suspect is underage, they can't post it. They've hit upon an unusual tactic.
Authorities have put out a leaflet with a picture of actor Robbie Coltrane. Small print explains that "Robbie Coltrane is not the burglar, but imagine him aged 16 with lank, greasy hair and you have the picture. The burglar lives locally and travels by bicycle to commit his crimes."
Coltrane has appeared in a number of movies; his most famous role (for Americans) is probably that of Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movie series.
This tactic was anticipated by William Gibson in his 1993 novel Virtual Light.
Separated at Birth was a police program you used in missing persons cases. You scanned a photo of the person you wanted, got back the names of half a dozen celebrities who looked vaguely like the subject, then went around asking people if they'd seen anybody lately who reminded them of A,B,C... The weird thing was, it worked better than just showing them a picture of the subject...Police in Christchurch, New Zealand are after a burglar; they know who he is and they... more
