The Bureau of Justice has released a special report on sexual victimization in juvenile facilities. When many people think prisons or correctional facilities and inmates being sexually victimized they think of inmates being the main cause as well as males being the ones doing so. Two key points from the report are these:
That the majority of sexual victimization reported by youth in juvenile facilities is done not by other youth but by staff members.
Approximately 95% of all youth reporting staff sexual misconduct said they had been victimized by female staff. In 2008, 42% of staff in state juvenile facilities were female.

Carla Maldonado, 40-year-old Palm Coast woman have been arrested along her husband David Maldonado, 42, for sex crimes allegedly documented in pictures contained on a compact disc.
The photos on the disc show Carla Maldonado engaging in sex with dogs and a 15-year-old female girl. The Maldonados were arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with an incident that occurred four years ago.
Flagler sheriff's investigators initially charged the pair after a CD containing photos from the couple's home computer surfaced in November 2008. 27 pictures taken over several months showed Carla Maldonado engaged in sex acts with her German shepherd, investigators said. An additional 16 images that investigators said David Maldonado took of Carla Maldonado molesting the teen girl in 2005, reports state.
Both Carla and David Maldonado were charged with providing the victim alcohol and encouraging the participation in the sex acts. Sheriff's investigators said the victim is now 19 years old.

Wendy Mello, 43-year-old Tauton woman arraigned in Taunton District Court this week for rape allegedly victimized a 9-year-old girl, according to police.
Mello, of 7 Creedway St., allegedly assaulted the girl on the afternoon of April 4 after the child had come to her apartment asking if she could borrow a heating pad. Raeanna Jewell, 25-year-old girls basketball coach at Apache Junction High School in Apache Junction, Arizona has been charged on allegations of an inappropriate relationship with one of her 16-year-old players. The indictment said the contact occurred in a women's restroom at the high school's gym between Jan. 1 and March 26.
The investigation began after the mother of the 16-year-old girl noticed suspicious text messages on the teen's cellphone.

Tabatha Adams, 36, former second-grade teacher has been sentenced to 30-years in federal prison for producing and manufacturing child pornography. A federal judge ordered 37-year-old Tabatha Adams to serve her federal sentence concurrently with the Kansas life sentence she received last May.
The Dodge City woman had pleaded guilty to federal charges of making sexually explicit pictures of a minor, an 8-year-old female relative. The life sentence is for aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Authorities say Adams and a Nebraska man were recorded having sex with an eight-year-old girl. The girl had been a student at the Dodge City, Kan., parochial school where Adams had taught.

Maggie Stratton, 60 year old Shreveport woman is behind bars after allegedly being caught in bed with a 5 year old girl she was suppose to be babysitting. She is charged with one count of molestation of a juvenile.
Shreveport Police says the alleged incident happened in August 2008, when Stratton was babysitting the 5 year old girl and her 8 year old sister. Elizabeth Livesay, 26-year-old teacher at Carson Junior High School,has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 16-year-old girl. Livesay is charged with 11 counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
Police learned of the crime in late October by a counselor, but won't say if the counselor worked with Livesay or the girl. No information has been released where the numerous sexual acts took place or the exact nature of the conduct, bu the incidents did not happen on school grounds.

Keri Ann Brekne, 28 year old teacher at Lopatcong Township Middle School in Phillipsburg, New Jersey was arrested in January 2008 and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
The sexual episodes allegedly occurred in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, therefore, Brekne faced charges in two states.
Between July 2007 and January, Brekne molested the girl at Brekne's Madison Street home, according to the charges. She would then drive the girl back to New Jersey, sometimes as late as 4 a.m., so she wouldn't miss school.
In PA, Brekne was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors. Brekne agreed in February to plead guilty to five counts of aggravated indecent assault in Pennsylvania.
In NJ, Brekne faces one count each of second-degree sexual assault, second-degree child endangerment and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact. In late March 2008 she rejected a plea deal in Warren County New Jersey under which she would be required to serve up to 10 years in prison. In July Keri Ann Brekne pleaded guilty in Warren County, New Jersey to a second-degree sexual assault charge. As a result of her guilty plea, Brekne who was already facing up to 50 years in prison in Pennsylvania is now facing up to 10 years in prison in New Jersey.
In October 2008 A judge in Northampton County, Pennsylvania sentenced Brekne to a prison term of from 15 to 30 years. According to the judge this was the worst case of abuse she has seen.

Morgan Alicia Jodeen Larson, 18-years-old Salem woman has been indicted by grand jury on sex abuse charges involving an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, both young relatives.
Larson is charged with rape, sodomy, sex abuse, unlawful sexual penetration and use of a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. She is scheduled to enter a plea later this week. She is being held without bail at the Marion County jail.
The sexual abuse allegedly began two to three years ago, when Larson was 15 or 16. Larson allegedly had sex with the boy and molested the girl. The molestation came to light when the female victim told an older family member about the abuse. Valencia Sephus, 30-year-old Harvey woman, was arrested last Thursday for the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl. South suburban woman was ordered held on $250,000 bond.

Julie Petty, 36, a substitute teacher at William James Middle School, was arrested and was charged in May 2007 with sexual battery by an authority figure and rape by an authority figure. She plead guilty in August 2008 o sexual battery by an authority figure. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a statutory rape charge against her.
The victim is a 14-year-old girl at the school where Petty was a part-time employee who coached the softball team. Donita Brady, 50, a 7th grade physical education and language arts teacher at Breckenridge Middle School and Breckenridge High School, was charged in April with seven counts of criminal sexual conduct with a 15-year-old female student - five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct involving digital penetration or oral sex and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct involving sexual contact.
Because Brady teaches in the same district as the alleged victim, the five first-degree charges were upgraded from less serious third-degree counts and what would have been fourth-degree charges were upgraded to second-degree.
