This clarity is what allows coaches, players, and fans to know what it is that their team needs to accomplish over these final weeks of the season in order to reach primary or secondary goals that they have for their team....As the season begins to wind down, the post-season picture begins to gain clarity.... more

It's true about this year being a 'down' year for the Pac-10. The MWC and the WAC teams have shown that they can compete and win in the Pac-10 this season, which for an elite conference is not good news. With that reality, teams from other lesser-conferences would still be hard-pressed to make a case against either of the two teams playing in the Pac-10 marquee matchup this weekend....It's true about this year being a 'down' year for the Pac-10. The MWC... more

Even though Jeff Tedford had opened up his quarterback competition, many insiders expected that Nate Longshore would only get some mop-up time if the situation called for it. As far as anyone outside of the coaching staff was concerned, Kevin Riley was still the starting quarterback...Even though Jeff Tedford had opened up his quarterback competition, many insiders... more

If you believe in preseason polls, which I do not, then the Arizona State Sun Devils should have no trouble beating Cal on Saturday. The only problem with that premise is that sports have and always will be a 'what have you done for me lately' affair when it comes to prognostications. Take my word for it....If you believe in preseason polls, which I do not, then the Arizona State Sun Devils... more

When I wrote my game preview titled 'A pummeling in Pullman,' I wrote it with a questionmark at the end of it. Little did I know that the title I wrote as a question would've been a better title for the recap, with an exclamation. Just my luck I guess, but how could I have known that Cal would put a beatdown on the Cougars like they did on Saturday?...When I wrote my game preview titled 'A pummeling in Pullman,' I wrote it... more

The last time so many young players on the Cal football team were getting opportunities to play was probably in coach Jeff Tedford's second season (2003) where he rotated between Aaron Rodgers and Reggie Robertson at the quarterback spot. Even then, it's probable that the 2003 team was still a little older. Their quarterbacks were definitely not Sophomores....The last time so many young players on the Cal football team were getting... more

In 2007, the college football world couldn't stop talking about Cal's DeSean Jackson and his highlight reel returns. Going into the season, he was one of the top Heisman candidates and he led what was one of the best receiving groups in the country, arguably THE best group that the Golden Bears have ever assembled...In 2007, the college football world couldn't stop talking about Cal's DeSean... more
