The Stanford Progressive
Supply-siders, “Reaganites,” and other cult followers of the almighty tax cut run rampant throughout the modern Republican party. While economists and political scientists ran through simulations and calculations to try and find the best monetary answer to the worst financial crisis in decades, the Cultists chanted that we should cut taxes, cut taxes, cut taxes. The Cult leaders are composed of the many Republican congressman, ex-Presidents, and foaming-mouth pundits who are under the delusion that tax cuts can pay for themselves. These Cult leaders are cheered on and funded by all corners of commerce and finance. Some academics pretend to be Cult members, but do so only as a means of ultimately diminishing the government's power. These special interests bestow upon the Cult an aura of credibility. Ironically, the idol of this cult, Ronald Reagan, is not [a] true member nor would he throw his lot in with it today. Not even Reagan would side with those who claim that a tax cut alone can lead to a net increase of revenue.
Former President George W. Bush championed the Cult of the Tax Cut early in his presidency. He said that the deficit would be “much bigger” without his tax cuts. He explained this in terms of basic Cult mythology: decreasing tax revenue will increase total government revenue by stimulating growth. Although the nonsensical nature of this myth seems clear, the Cultists would not even listen to the President's own Council of Economic Advisers. The Treasury Department found that the economic boost from tax cuts would pay for at most 10 percent of the revenue lost due to the cuts. When an actual economic crisis hit, Bush immediately turned to deficit spending and has been universally applauded by economists for doing so.

Republicans introduce an amendment that would compel the president and the cabinet to enroll in the government plan
By Alex Koppelman
Senate Republicans had what seemed like a pretty good idea when it comes to the fight over healthcare reform: Propose an amendment that would force all members of Congress to enroll in whatever form of public option is included in the final bill. That plan backfired, though, when their Democratic counterparts decided to actually support the amendment. So now the GOP's going further.
The latest version of the amendment is broader; beyond members of Congress, it also includes staff members, something that had been a sticking point for Democrats before. More than that, though, it would force President Obama and his cabinet into the public option.
"The White House and cabinet secretaries are working very hard for this massive overhaul of America's health care system," Grassley said in a statement reported by the Huffington Post's Ryan Grim. "It's only fair that if this bill becomes law, these individuals should themselves be subject to the reforms. The same is true for congressional staff. Quietly carving out leadership staff and committee staff behind closed doors is unacceptable. If the reforms are as good as their supporters say, the reforms should be good enough for everybody."

One investment strategy by Citigroup defines equity earnings in the global market as targeting the plutonic class which resides in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. Plutocracy is rule by the wealthy or power provided by wealth.
They consider Europe (ex-Italy) and Japan as egalitarian, meaning that all people should be treated as equals and have the same political, economic, social, and civil rights or as a social philosophy advocating the removal of economic inequalities among people.
Did we ever really disjoin ourselves from British rule? Or did the ruling class we left over 200 years ago follow us just to have freer reign in the land of the free and home of the brave? One investment strategy by Citigroup defines equity earnings in the global market as... more

Disgusting practices of the rich and powerful.
If you want to be a successful plutocrat, you have to perfect the art of the hostess gift.
Edwina Rogers, the wife of Washington lobbyist Ed Rogers, is a master of the form and has developed her own signature specialty. She wraps her thank-yous in sheets of real dollar bills, purchased from the Bureau of Engraving.
In this clip from the pilot episode of “PowerHouse”–a kind of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” show set in Washington and in development for NBC–Mrs. Rogers is shown in her “wrapping room,” a special area of her walk-in closet in her 18,000-square-foot mansion.
She unfurls a roll of dollar bills and starts slicing them up to make the appropriate wrapping sheets. No matter that she slices several dollar bills in half–it is all about lining up the George Washingtons on the front.
“The effect is fabulous, especially for foreigners,” she says. “They love it.”
The host, Mario Correa, quips that he spends “less money on gifts for people than you do on the wrapping paper.”
Mrs. Rogers responds, quite thriftily, that she only wraps small gifts–not large ones–in money (a sheet of 32 $1 bills goes for $55).
