A “suspicious” fire devastated the church attended by Alaska Gov. and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Friday night in her hometown of Wasilla, the church’s minister said.
“We have no idea what caused it,” the Rev. Larry Kroon of the Wasilla Bible Church said Saturday, adding that investigators were considering arson and other possible causes.
A ladies’ craft group was in the building when the fire broke out, but they got out safely, Kroon said.
“No one was hurt,” he said.
Central Mat-Su Fire Department Chief James Steele said the department was “treating it as suspicious and as potential arson at this point” but did not elaborate, The Anchorage Daily News reported.
The newspaper said Palin released a statement after the fire in which she said she stopped by the church Saturday morning and offered an apology to the assistant pastor “if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate.”A “suspicious” fire devastated the church attended by Alaska Gov. and... more

Gov. Sarah Palin paused in Arizona before heading home to Alaska today and dismissed any suggestion that her presence on the Republican ticket cost Sen. John McCain the presidency.
The McCain candidacy was crushed under the weight of the country's economic crisis, not the presence of Sarah Palin, she said.
"I don't think anybody should give Sarah Palin that much credit... that my presence on the ticket would trump the economic crisis that America found itself in a couple of months ago and attribute John McCain's loss to me," Palin said this morning in the lounge of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.
"Now having said that, if I cost John McCain even one vote, I'm sorry about that because John McCain, I believe, is the American hero," she said. "I had believed that it was his time."
To many Republicans, Palin is not a loser and not a handicap. She is the future of the Republican Party. Gov. Sarah Palin paused in Arizona before heading home to Alaska today and dismissed... more

Ok, not all the most reliable news source in the world, but the facts line up scarily. I dont know if I'm just generating propaganda, but one of the main drums the Republicans are beating is the one about Sarah Palin being such an upstanding conservative because, even though she knew her baby had Downs Syndrome, she still had it. Now it might be her sixteen year old daughters? Oops.
It's already come out that she lied in her maiden speech, a further smudging of truth doesnt seem too far fetched.
Too bad people can't be comfortable with their actions..
"Here's a story that's filled with salacious gossip, secret pregnancies and unproven sources. In other words, perfect for FameCrawler! There's a rumor surfacing that Sarah Palin's fifth child Trig, who was born in April, is actually the child of Palin's 16-year-old daughter Bristol. According to sources, Sarah Palin's announcement in early March that she was seven months pregnant came as a shock to those that had worked closely with her, since she did displayed no signs of pregnancy whatsoever during the previous seven months. Here are a couple of other pieces to this story:
- Palin does not appear to be pregnant in any photos taken during her pregnancy. Sources point mainly to the photo below, which was taken of Palin when she would have been almost 7 months pregnant.
- Palin's daughter Bristol who attends an Anchorage high school, was reportedly absent for what would have been the last 4 -5 months of her mother's pregnancy, claiming to be suffering from a prolonged case of mono.
- Sarah Palin's water broke while she was attending a conference in Texas. She then proceeded to give a 30-minute speech before taking an 11-12 hour flight home to Alaska to give birth.
- All photos on the Alaska State Department's official website that show Sarah Palin and her family have been taken down.
So what do you think? A mother and public figure attempting to spare herself and her daughter from public embarrassment or just another election-year rumor?"Ok, not all the most reliable news source in the world, but the facts line up scarily.... more
