Edgy, bloody, potty-mouthed: Ain’t that a ‘Kick-Ass’ film
By Scott Bowles
USA TODAY
LOS ANGELES — Like any red-blooded comic book movie, Kick-Ass comes with the requisite fixtures: secret identities, capes and masks, arch villains.

What separates this from, say, a Batman or Spider-Man, is that these superheroes — many of them children — are shot, stabbed, hit by cars and launched off buildings. And they drop epithets like longshoremen.Edgy, bloody, potty-mouthed: Ain’t that a ‘Kick-Ass’ film

The film doesn't come out 'til April (and so far, positive reviews), but comic writer, Mark Millar, is optimistic that a sequel will get the greenlight.
Millar told Film School Rejects “There will be a sequel. There’s just no doubt about it… It’s not being cocky with it. I love it. Everyone I know is really happy with it… And we could do a sequel relatively inexpensively.” he also says that Red Mist would become a bad guy.

During an interview with STV this week, writer Mark Millar (responsible for "Wanted" and the upcoming "Kick-Ass") said that he wanted to make his filmmaking debut with a superhero movie, with a cast and a location in Scotland.
Mark says "I saw District 9, the South African alien movie. I thought that that was quite interesting to see something that people don't associate with South Africa, which is alien invasions, to juxtapose two things and make something quite interesting and quite odd, and I thought wouldn't it be cool to do a superhero movie in Scotland... Not a cheesy BBC Scotland comedy kind of thing, but to make it cool, as cool as X-Men 2 was or whatever"

Straight from Comic Con comes the leaked teaser trailer for Matthew Vaugh's Kick-Ass. According to slashfilm, it's the Comic Con footage spliced together and also a lot clearer than previous leaks.
Even more shocking: it's a technical indie film that showed up at the convention sans a distributor
.
Of course, until it gets taken down. Dig it.

"The Book of Revelations will be told in comics!
For Mark Millar, the creator behind such eyebrow-raising projects as Wanted, Kick-Ass, War Heroes, Marvel’s Civil War, Ultimates and soon Ultimate Avengers, calling something American Jesus isn’t that big of a deal.
American Jesus is the larger name of Millar’s re-telling of The Book of Revelation from the Bible, set in contemporary times. Both the returned Jesus and the Anti-Christ grow up in a world where at least one of them can more easily reconcile his powers with the notion that he may be a mutant, rather than a supernatural being whose presence signifies the beginning of the end of everything.
The first installment of the three part story, Chosen was originally published in 2004 by Dark Horse, and this week, is being released in a new trade paperback collection bearing the name American Jesus - from Image Comics. "

Just to be clear, I tagged this as "movies" because Mark Millar's work has been made into movies and who knows, this one could be as well!
