Okay, Juneau is the capital city for Alaska and I haven't seen so many laws governing a single city in my life. But I guess that is what happens when you get a bunch of power hungry people they want to take over a town/city.
Now, this is a private club. It isn't governed by public rules. There are rules & conditions you need to meet in order to join. They have the right to say what happens in the club, within reason. I think smoking is within reason. They all know smoking is allowed there. If you're a non-smoker and you need a job, why apply there when you KNOW smokers attend there.
Secondly, how can the city govern a public hiking trail? How do you enforce the outdoors with "no smoking allowed"? It is open air and air currents go every which way.
Yes yes yes yes. Smoking is bad for you. Well, so is breathing the air or eating the foods you buy in a grocery store.
The tobacco companies have lied to us for decades but you know what? So has the government....the point I am trying to make is this: It is a private institution and they allow smokers to light up there. But someone somewhere decided they aren't allowed to.
