What I’m trying to say is that you should go see Black Swan. And then after you watch it, think about all the ways someone else – or even the very filmmakers who made it – could have ruined it, or even worse, made it mediocre.

It was a great year for drama as Hollywood’s awards season finally shifted in overdrive with this week’s rather controversial announcement of the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Whatever pundits care to comment on more than a few categories (Best Comedy/Musical anyone?), most could agree that Darren Aronofsky’s breathtaking psychosexual drama Black Swan is a deserving front-runner. Nominated for Best Picture (Drama) and Best Director, leading lady Natalie Portman’s unforgettable performance also earned a deserving Best Actress nod. Is she now en pointe to win her first Oscar? One of the Personalities of the Year, discover what Portman had to say about her most challenging – and rewarding – role yet.

Director David O. Russell has had a controversial past with some actors -- ahem, George Clooney -- since making Three Kings, but one of his actors from that film has stuck by him ever since. Mark Wahlberg got raves for his supporting role in Russell's I ♥ Huckabees, and as a producer on The Fighter, the actor got Russell the job as a director after Darren Aronofsky dropped out to work on Black Swan. Russell talks about his collaboration with Wahlberg and the rest of the cast.

Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as a prima ballerina on the verge of a breakdown -- while Barbara Hershey plays her less-than-stable mom who might be hurting more than helping the situation. Hershey explains why Erica isn't a stage mom, and how giving someone a cake (in certain circumstances) might be perverse.

Natalie Portman is a ballerina in Darren Aronofsky's hallucinatory Black Swan, but that doesn't mean she's all sweetness and light -- and nor is the movie. Part realistic portrayal of the ballet world, part thriller, Black Swan merges aspects of The Red Shoes (either intentionally or not) with Aronofsky's last film The Wrestler to tell the tale of an artist/athlete who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Writer/director Aronofsky explains the worlds that his film straddles...

In Darren Aronofsky's wonderfully creepy Black Swan, Natalie Portman plays the repressed Nina, a prima ballerina who's just landed the lead in Swan Lake. This requires her to play both the innocent, vulnerable White Swan and the dangerous, sexual Black Swan. As one of the most talented dancers in her company, Nina's got the technical precision -- it's tapping into her inner Black Swan that's the problem.
