[Editor's note: Ambassador Henry Morgenthau had been the President of the liberal Free Synagogue of New York for over a decade when he split with Rabbi Stephen Wise in 1919 over the issue of Zionism. This is an excerpt from an article he published in the journal World's Work in 1921, as quoted in the New York Times (italics added). Morgenthau was also an officer of the B'nai B'rith Jewish Masonic Lodge, which helps explain his viewpoint and choice of terminology.]

A Stupendous Fallacy
Zionism is the most stupendous fallacy in Jewish history. I assert that it is wrong in principle and impossible of realization; that it is unsound in its economics, fantastical in its politics, and sterile in its spiritual ideals. Where it is not pathetically visionary, it is a cruel playing with the hopes of a people blindly seeking their way out of age-long miseries. These are bold and sweeping assertions, but I shall undertake to make them good.
The very fervor of my feeling for the oppressed of every race and every land, especially for the Jews, those of my own blood and faith, to whom I am bound by every tender tie, impels me to fight with all the greater force against this scheme, which my intelligence tells me can only lead them deeper into the mire of the past, while it professes to be leading them to the heights.
Zionism is a surrender, not a solution. It is a retrogression into the blackest error, and not progress toward the light. I will go further and say that it is a betrayal; it is an Eastern European proposal, fathered in this country by American Jews, which, if it were to succeed, would cost the Jews of America most [of all] that they have gained of liberty, equality and fraternity...[Editor's note: Ambassador Henry Morgenthau had been the President of the liberal Free... more
Yes the rumors were true. We had three-time world champ and surf legend Tom Curren at the store for a chat. Have a look to see what he’s like out of the water. The waves sucked locally so Yazzy scooted him away to some secret spots. We will see if we can get him and the whole Rip Curl posse up another time. Check out the Trikke Tribred he is promoting too if you want.
Look for some donk-call submissions at the end too. No, we did not ask Tom to heehaw. Not this time. Tell us your favorite donk caller.
Oh and there is a sneak peek of a future episode from the summer showing an Alaia board in action with Christian Wach.

Just to prove that we can get his big ole carcass out in the early AM here is a recent dawn patrol adventure just after hurricane Kyle blew through. A little chatter, some background rambling and of course surf porn via lance the “sniper”.
Oh, did we say that we have Tom Curren in our next episode? Well we just did now. Look for three time world surf champ, Tom Curren in Dacane Surf Shop chit chatting about boards among some googly-eyed fans…like me. The surf was low locally so Yazzi scooted him away for some of secret spot shots. We also will have our first donk call submissions in that show so we’ll have to get a poll started and no, Tom didn’t do a heehaw. Damm.
The temp is dropping quick so look for some real cold water surfing soon. A little pee with your suit sir?

Support for Snoop Dogg's campaign to gain entry into Australia after being temporarily banned [click to read] came from a perhaps unlikely source, as Academy-award winning actor Russell Crowe pleaded with the Australian authorities via a letter sent earlier this month.
Last year, Snoop was banned from Australia by then-Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews for his past criminal convictions for drug and weapons offenses.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Crowe, who has been friends with the rapper for three years, wrote that Snoop should be allowed to perform in the country later in the year.
