Google Lively, released July 8, 2008, is a web-based virtual environment produced by Google Inc. It is currently only supported on Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, using Windows XP or Windows Vista. It requires a special download as well as Flash.
Following confirmation that Google intends to open its virtual world Lively to games developers, creative director Kevin Hanna has revealed the long-term goal is for the service to become an online games platform.
Lively has previously been seen mostly as a less adult version of Second Life.
