It was only last week when Tim “Not afraid to call a bitch out” Gunn spilled the dirt on Taylor Momsen’s bratty ways. He says he witnessed her appalling behavior while shooting a cameo on Gossip Girl. He told E! News: “She was pathetic, she couldn’t remember her lines, and she didn’t even have that many. I thought to myself ‘why are we all being held hostage by this brat?”
And now, OK! is reporting that Raccoon Face has FIRED BACK!
From OK!
The face of Madonna’s Material Girl line and Gossip Girl starlet has responded to…beloved Project Runway fashion guru Tim Gunn, who called the starlet a “pathetic brat.”
“I don’t respond to that,” Taylor told reporters on the carpet at Madonna and her daughter Lourdes‘ launch of the new Material Girl fashion line at Macy’s Herald Square in NYC Wednesday night.”
Um…wait a minute–I don’t want to split hairs here, but responding to a question that you won’t respond to someone’s comments really isn’t a response to the comments. Technically, she only responded to an interview question, not Tim Gunn’s comments.
The 17-year-old actress and Pretty Reckless singer who wishes she was Courtney Love, but would never admit to it because that’s not something Courtney Love would ever do, added that she doesn’t care what her haters think. “It’s about owning it no matter what anyone says,” Taylor said. “This is who I am and this is who I am going to be. It’s about every girl being true to themselves.” Only two kinds of people say that: bitches and fat chicks. I’ll let you guess which category she falls into.

Oh Madonna, Madonna, Madonna. Madge, Madge, Madge. You are making me all fatootzed (confused in Yiddish). I am soooo not feeling the Material Girl–brought to you by Macy’s–thing at all. I know, through Kabbalah, you are like officially Jewish now. But that does not mean you have to automatically go into the schmatta business. And does Lourdes need to have a career at thirteen years of age? What’s wrong with a Bat-Mitzvah at Leonard’s of Great Neck and some dance classes? I know, you are a great mother. But I am not so sure that you are a real Jewish mother? A good Jewish mother raises their daughter to be a princess and expect everyone to do everything for them. Work…is a four letter word to that crowd. What you might do is explain to Lola that her obsessive phone calling will be put to good use when she becomes a publicist…like a good Jewish girl. Anyway, one thing is to instill a sense of responsibility to your child, but it seems like Lourdes is suddenly multi-tasking between polishing up on Conversational French, her acting debut in your film about King Edward VIII, and her new fashion stint with you at Macy’s. Frankly, I am exhausted just thinking about it. Is this your way of rolling-out the Lola brand? Fotz.

Sometimes it feels as if 2010 so far can be summed up as an ongoing quest to avoid discussing AVATAR. (Okay, you want my one-word review? Meh.) Fortunately, a number of filmmakers have stepped up to offer heartening proof that the whole of cinema isn’t henceforth going to be consigned to the twin plagues of Polaroid goggles and half-baked storytelling. Jessica Hausner — previously known for LOVELY RITA and HOTEL — has gone a good deal farther, taking her guests into a world as rarefied as Pandora, but quite, quite real, in LOURDES.
In case you didn’t know, Lourdes is a city in France, site of a purported miracle in the nineteenth century and subsequently the locus for pilgrims hoping that the hand of God will relieve them of their various illnesses and disabilities. Amongst LOURDES, the film’s contemporary group of visitors is Christine (Slyvie Testud), a quadriplegic who’s still open to the possibilities of divine intervention, even if she was far more impressed with Rome. Through her eyes, Hausner stages her story as a dry, ironic comedy — she observes the day-to-day process of nuns, priests, and wait staff serving a steady flow of faithful, and tracks what happens when Christine stands from her wheelchair and starts walking. And she provides no easy answers, content just to watch as a maybe/maybe not miracle subtly shifts the interactions of those who observe it.
Let me say it right now: This is the first of my favorite films of this year. I love the ambivalence of the story; Testud’s quiet, exquisitely sculpted performance; and Hausner’s way of using actual locations and extended takes to let us assess events for ourselves.
Hausner and I got into what it’s like observing the human sea that travels through the real Lourdes, and how a filmmaker molds her story to tread the fine line between blind faith and full-on skepticism. Click on the link to hear the interview:

I got a copy of Lourdes self titles EP sometime in 2005 or 2006 and didn't get the chance to see them live til the night of the last Medusa Festival at CBGB. That night they did a set of their own songs as well as teaming up with Sandra Bernhard and Ricky Byrd from the Blackhearts to do a cover of the Joan Jett hit "I love Rock N Roll" which was really cool because it was totally unexpected.

Lourdes is a unique band in that lead singer Lourdes Lane incorporates a mandolin and electric violin into a hard rock band. Yeah, that sounds kinda "different" but she makes it work. It isn't the first, or last, time a band will incorporate non-traditional instruments I know but it isn't that common. I guess the only other one that immediately comes to mind is Jethro Tull with their flute.
Once again this is a band that sounds different enough in a live show as opposed to their studio recorded songs that is is good to hear both versions. They do a great live show and I am not sure which versions of their songs I really like better.
