The Baby Boom generation‘s dreams continue to fade. Their home prices have been devastated to price levels first attained 6-8 years ago. This decline in value has in many cases eliminated their principal value invested in their home–historically a dominant element of retiree net worth.
Simultaneously is the wake-up call of their 401k real values. Over the past decades, the 401k defined contribution plan has replaced the more traditional defined benefit plans. Increased life expectancy, the risk of funding defined benefits, and the combined impact on the overall cost of defined benefit plans have made these plans nearly extinct. The Baby Boom generation‘s dreams continue to fade. A nor'easter (also northeaster; see below) is a type of macro-scale storm along the East Coast of the United States and Atlantic Canada, so named because the winds come from the northeast, especially in the coastal areas of the Northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada. More specifically, it describes a low pressure area whose center of rotation is just off the East Coast and whose leading winds in the left forward quadrant rotate onto land from the northeast. The precipitation pattern is similar to other extratropical storms. Nor'easters also can cause coastal flooding, coastal erosion, hurricane force winds, and heavy snow. Nor'easters can occur at any time of the year but are mostly known for their presence in the winter season. Nor'easters can be devastating and damaging, especially in the winter months, when most damage and deaths are cold related, as nor'easters are known for bringing extremely cold air down from the Arctic air mass. Nor'easters thrive on the converging air masses; that is, the polar cold air mass and the warmer ocean water of the Gulf Stream.
Nor'easters will usually develop between 30 N. and 35 N. latitudes.A nor'easter (also northeaster; see below) is a type of macro-scale storm along... more

Virginia Beach, Virginia
City officials gathered Wednesday to unveil their newest tool for fighting crime, rescuing people and wooing businesses: a $2.9 million Bell 407 helicopter.
Police will begin using the craft for regular operations within weeks. By the end of the year, emergency medical service personnel will join the crew for rescues and transporting patients, Chief Jake Jacocks said.
The purchase makes Virginia Beach the only city in the area to own a helicopter equipped to care for and transport a patient, Jacocks said. The aircraft will be used as a backup for Sentara's Nightingale air ambulance service, Jacocks said.
"Only the ill-informed can look at this as a luxury," he told a crowd of 150 city leaders, police, paramedics and others inside a newly built hangar.
Mayor Meyera Oberndorf described the helicopter as a "blessing" for those in the city's rural sections, noting it would significantly reduce the time spent getting a patient to a hospital.
It also will be used to show investors an aerial view of the city, she said. The aircraft will be used to help other city departments too, she said. This is the third and largest Bell helicopter owned by the city.
The oldest, a 1981 Jet Ranger appraised two years ago for about $450,000, will be sold, Jacocks said. The other, also a Jet Ranger, will remain in service, he said.Virginia Beach, Virginia
