Tuesday 15 June 2010: The English Defence League (EDL) clashed with Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) during a Freedom of the Borough parade by the Royal Anglican soldiers, who had just returned from service in Afghanistan. At least two people were arrested, one was charged with having a knife.
Correction: The video lists the date as Monday 14 June, it was in fact Tuesday 15 June.

Tuesday 11 May 2010: A video rush from the ground around Westminster capturing some of odd and unreported scenes on the day Conservative Leader David Cameron became UK Prime Minister. High speed exits from Parliament, Brian Haw megaphone attacks on Daily Mirror photographers, rooftop protests and The Sun newspaper declaring the death of democracy, not to mention boozed-up Tory supporters on Whitehall.Tuesday 11 May 2010: A video rush from the ground around Westminster capturing some of... more

Saturday 3 April 2010: About 3000 English Defence League (EDL) protestors marched on Dudley town centre under heavy police escort to protest against the construction of a new "mega-mosque".
Clashes broke out at the protest rally point when EDL supporters took offence to being "caged in". Containment fences were torn down and hundreds of EDL protestors broke police lines, charged into the streets of Dudley and in the direction of the Unite Against Fascism counter protest.
Riot police soon contained the lose EDL groups and 12 people were arrested. The police operation is said to have cost the UK tax-payer £150,000.Saturday 3 April 2010: About 3000 English Defence League (EDL) protestors marched on... more

As bombs went off in Baghdad the London-based Iraq elections in Brent, North West London, did not go smoothly either. Some Iraqi-Kurds found they were unable to vote despite holding all the relevant documentation.
London Metropolitan police and TSG riot officers were brought in to contain the Kurdish voters in a pen. Tempers frayed and the Kurdish protestors pushed into the street and blocked the highway in a sit-down protest. As scuffles broke out and arrests made the police came under attack from bottles and rocks. The TSG riot police retaliated with batons and shields.
Despite the cloashes, the Kurdish voters held the street until their demands were met and they were allowed to vote in the Iraq election. As bombs went off in Baghdad the London-based Iraq elections in Brent, North West... more

Saturday 27 february 2010: An estimated 5000 local residents marched on Whittington hospital in Archway, North London, to oppose the closure of the accident and emergency department, which most on the protest considered the first part of the closure of the entire hospital.
This is just the latest in government (taxpayer-funded) cuts to balancing the (fake) economy. But as most vented on this day, the government has £500bn for the bankers, who continue to lie, cheat, steal and gain incredible bonuses on tax-payers money while the basic rights of every person living in the UK are denied due to "lack of funds" and "budget cuts".
Today in Islington was just the start of mass opposition to all governments, not just those in power. It has become increasingly apparent all parties are paid for by the same financial backers and the UK public is getting to grips with that betrayal of democracy.
In the meantime the residents of Archway, Holloway and Islington try to hold on to their last remaining hospital.Saturday 27 february 2010: An estimated 5000 local residents marched on Whittington... more

22/09/2009: At 8am in the morning some 600 CRS riot police moved on the Calais refugee "Jungle", under the orders of French immigration minister Eric Besson, to destroy the camp and arrest all the remaining refugees.
The camp usually held up to 1500 people, but many had fled and gone underground, leaving 300 refugees, nearly half of those were children.
Besson announced the operation would be "dignified", but this footage reveals a very different picture, as children as young as 11-years were dragged away and seperated from the only parental figures they had known since fleeing their country.
The camp was cleared in nearly 15 minutes. All refugees were put on buses and taken away to the nearby detention centre in Coquelles to be processed. Then bulldozers and men with chainsaws entered the camp to start the dismantling process.
At 1pm Besson arrived to view his success and paraded around the flattened camp with the international media circus he so desperately needed to publicise his poltical triumph, just as Nicolas Sarkozy (then immigration minister) had done during the Sangatte camp closure in 2002.

Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 September 2009: Anti-arms campaigners took to the streets of London to protest the bi-annual Defence Systems and Equipment International weapons convention (DSEi).
In contrast to previous year's protests, campaigners from Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT) to activists from the Brighton-based Smash ITT/EDO campaign targeted the financial backers of the arms trade.
Tuesday saw a tour of London's financial district to hammer on the windows and throw shoes at the likes of Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Lloyds, British Telecom and Axa, where an attempt to storm the foyer left the main door somewhat shattered.
Thursday evening is traditionally the arms dealer's dinner, but this year the event was moved from the usual venue, the Dorchester hotel, to the Park Lane Hilton because Tony Blair's wife, Cherie, was holding her own dinner event.
The protest was entirely peaceful, if somewhat noisy - as you would expect a noise demo to be - but this changed (as the video shows) when private security - either from the Hilton or from the arms dealers themselves - attacked the protest. Section 14 of the Public Order Act was invoked and police tried to remove the 30 or so protestors to put them in a caged area, more commonly known as a "pen".
The protestors resorted to a sit-down demo. Some were removed and dragged away. At least eight were arrested.

Tuesday 4 August and the news headlines are of bankers taking £4bn in bonuses, citing "business as usual" - a stupendous slap on the back for all the great work they have done.
Move ahead, Wednesday 5 August, and Lloyds have lost £4bn in the HBOS takeover, a takeover paid mostly by the UK taxpayer, part of the £500bn bailout by the UK government in November 2008.
Has anyone thought to ask the question; did the Lloyds/HBOS funds get mixed up in the City bonus bin?

Here's something a bit different to my usual, protests, riots and endless lines of riot police.
I visited the London Aquarium with my daughter last week and took the opportunity to film the various breeds of shark, an animal I have had a keen interest in since my childhood.
I tried to film the sharks as if in their natural habitat, avoiding the relfections endless annoying camera flashes from tourists who don't understand the basics of indoor photography.
The result, I hope is some stunning images, from as close as I would like to get to the animals, especially the notorious Sand Tiger Shark.
