Teachers are some of the hardest working people with one of the most difficult jobs. Even though the education system has improved dramatically over the years, there is still plenty to complain about. And now that thousands of teachers' jobs are on the line and budget cuts are hurting schools, their complaints have only gotten louder.

New York City’s Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the use of Quick Response or QR codes (which are something like a smartphone-readable barcode) on building permits, to provide New Yorkers with easy access to information related to buildings and construction sites throughout the city.
Smartphone users who scan a QR code on a construction permit in New York, according to a press release from the mayor’s office, will get “details about the ongoing project – including the approved scope of work, identities of the property owner and job applicant, other approved projects associated with the permit, [and] complaints and violations related to the location.”
The QR codes will link users to a mobile version of the Department of Buildings Information System, and will give them the option to click a link that will initiate a phone call to the city’s 311 phone service, where they can register a complaint about noise, safety or other concerns.
As permits at 975,000 building and construction sites that already have them are replaced, they will have QR codes added; all New York City permits are expected to have QR codes by roughly 2013.

Television soaps sometimes try to mix real life tragedy with scripted drama and for Eastenders the latest storyline has had 3,400 people complain.
The BBC news site reports the complaints state the storyline where "Ronnie Branning, played by Samantha Womack, swapped her dead baby for the baby of Jessie Wallace's character, Kat Moon." as being 'insensitive, irresponsible and desperate. According to the site the storyline was released in November and there were complaints, however majority appeared when the show aired.
The show does include a helpline and it is stated Foundation for Sudden Infant Deaths (FSID) advised them on the issue of cot death (which saw script changes) but not on the 'drama line'Television soaps sometimes try to mix real life tragedy with scripted drama and for... more

DigitalSpy reports Fox gave Simon Cowell a warning about showing any 'provocative' content in the US version of X-Factor.
According to the post, Network bosses in the US are worried over any public grumblings similar to the one X-Factor saw after the Christina Aguilera and Rihanna performances.
"A Fox source told the Sunday Express: "You can probably get away with a lot more on mainstream TV in the UK. We'd have been flooded with complaints if we had broadcast anything as risqué as you saw in Britain last week."
Last week, ITV reportedly issued a similar warning to Cowell to "cut the sleaze"."-Digital SpyDigitalSpy reports Fox gave Simon Cowell a warning about showing any... more

If you feel like a restaurant has under served you, it can be right to complain. Though that's usually with food and not the money you've stolen.
Yep some guy who robbed a Wendy's in the states called back later to complain that he didn't get enough cash "‘Next time there better be more than $586,’ he said. "-Metro. He later left a second message of complaint via the phone, the police haven't caught him yet.If you feel like a restaurant has under served you, it can be right to complain.... more

The very awesome and informative Boing Boing blog reports on a story where a reader sent a letter of complaint to the production company over their lawsuits plans for downloaders.
Reading the letter on the blog, it was very polite and expressed a simple disagreement with the action.
"The majority of the people you are suing were not seeking to make money from their downloads, and will be financially devastated by a lawsuit or settlement. While it is completely understandable that Voltage Pictures wishes to defend its intellectual property, this is an inhumane way of doing so."-Boing Boing
However the sender received a rude sounding letter back saying, "I'm glad you're a moron who believes stealing is right. I hope your family and your kids end up in jail one day for stealing so maybe they can be taught the difference. Until then, keep being stupid, you're doing that very well"-Boing Boing

This amusing video is a bit of a departure from my usual Sunday morning god-mocking, but since I am in Helsinki right now, I thought you'd appreciate this. Finnish artists Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen collected the pet peeves and angst-ridden pleas of people in Helsinki and then composed this choral work around the list of complaints. Music composed by Esko Grundström.This amusing video is a bit of a departure from my usual Sunday morning god-mocking,... more

According to the Times, the Ask the Chancellors programme on Monday evening received complaints from some Conservatives who thought "that the Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman was receiving too much applause."- The Times
When the debates were announced, it was discussed by many that the Lib Dems would benefit more, since the party has problems with getting noticed by voters (or at least the debates would show the Lib Dem stance in a hung parliament situation.)
The complaints and comments made by the Tories also mention their view that Cable was not asked tough questions and was allowed to 'referee' against the other two chancellors.
Even if you disagree with the complaints, the reaction to this first debate could lead to future debates being in-putted with PR fights and complaints over where the party leaders will stand and what noises the audience are allowed to make.
"Andy Coulson, the Tories’ director of communications, warned that this must not be repeated in the leaders’ debates next month. However, this could be more difficult when the moderators — David Dimbleby, Alistair Stewart and Adam Boulton — are banned from intervening to cross-question any party leader."- The Times.According to the Times, the Ask the Chancellors programme on Monday evening received... more

There’s only so much stupid that a girl can handle and I shot way over my monthly allotment reading this one news story: The Diary of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition, by Anne Frank, was pulled off the shelves in Culpepper County Public Schools in Virginia after a parent complained about “the sexual nature of the vagina passage,” according to the Culpepper Star-Exponent. Since 1995, the Anne Frank Foundation has printed an unedited, definitive version of Anne’s diary, in which she apparently wrote some sexually suggestive references, including one about her sinful lady flower.
Jim Allen, the district’s director of instruction, told the Culpepper Star-Exponent, “What we have asked is that this particular edition will not be taught. I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. So we listened to the parent and we pulled it.”
Instead, 8th graders in Culpepper County will read the original Anne Frank text that was published by Otto Frank, Anne’s father, in 1947, which only contains 70 percent of Anne’s original diary. Don’t go looking for sexy parts, kids!
Sigh. Really, though, I pity the kid with the parent who complained about Anne Frank’s vagina. If The Diary of a Young Girl is seXXXy enough to get yanked, I’d bet money on it that this child does not have internet or a TV.

A spoof advert shown during BBC's Top Gear has been ruled to have breached guidelines.
It depicted a man committing suicide, prompting 50 complaints.
50? A whole 50! It must have been truly shocking. I would have thought by now that people who won't like Top Gear would know they don't like Top Gear.

You may have thought the Brits don't like to moan, but when we're on holiday our complaining reaches new levels. A list of the worst holiday complaints has been compiled and includes the following:
1. Children’s entertainment at one couple's resort was too good and therefore the children did not want to spend any time with them.
2. Ice cream melting too fast in the sun.
3. When collecting baggage a man was annoyed that so many other people also had plain black suitcases, he couldn't tell which case was his.
4. Travelling from Cardiff to Portugal one family didn't realise it would be so sunny and therefore they were too ‘hot and sweaty’ in their travel clothes.
