It's official: Actress-turned-indie-rock-chanteuse Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard are married. The pair tied the knot near Seattle on Sunday, her rep confirmed to People.
Deschanel, 29, and Gibbard, 33, got engaged last December, after dating for about a year. According to People, Gibbard gave the "(500) Days of Summer" star a three-carat diamond and platinum Neil Lane ring when he proposed. Deschanel had previously dated actor/musician Jason Schwartzman (who also got married this year) and Mickey Madden from Maroon 5.
DCFC's Narrow Stairs debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart in 2008. Just last week, the band debuted "Meet Me on the Equinox," the first single from the soundtrack to "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," on MTV.com.
"The song at its core is just about meeting another halfway, because life is very short, because there's only a brief period of time to really connect with people, and that it's important to recognize that," Gibbard said of the new track, which appears on the album due out on October 20.
Deschanel's She & Him, with M.Ward, released their debut album on indie stalwart Merge Records in 2008. In January, she revealed that they were working on the second album. When asked if Gibbard — with whom she once shared the stage for an Obama fundraiser — would appear on the new LP, she replied, "That's none of your beeswax. ... Time will tell."Nooooo!
