What is cinema? André Bazin published a book of essays that tried to answer that question. But if somebody asked me for the short answer, I'd advise them to visit EternalMoonwalk.com. Seriously.
On first glance, the site seems little more than a poignant goof: a tribute to the late Michael Jackson that draws its inspiration from the John F. Kennedy memorial in Washington, D.C., with its eternal flame -- but instead of a flame that never goes out, it's a video loop featuring variations on the Gloved One's signature move.
But it's more than that. In addition to being diabolically mesmerizing -- between the array of clips and the faintly "Billie Jean"-like backbeat, one tends to lose track of time staring at the damned thing -- Eternal Moonwalk is also an incidental tutorial in the basic properties of cinema. It returns motion pictures to their origin point, when the medium's core appeal was the chance to watch strangers performing, their bodies moving from Point A to Point B, their familiar or amusing actions serving as an emotional connection point, a reminder that we're members of the same species inhabiting the same small world.

the first segment of Dolls R Us. Doll Face
digital photos mixed with lankan song
Ma Dase Wedana(roughly translates to pangs in my eyes ie literally pain in my eyes but as songs go the song
connotates to mean that there is saddness in the eyes
do to a broken heart while other persons eyes have love smiles --i think the song is about unrequited love or a break up or unexpressed love-but the singer says there is no hard feelings about rejection)
the project starts melancholy but will move to an upbeat
pace as the segments continue. wanted to use a sad song because i felt sad about romantic situations and thought this song reflected what i wanted to express
about that aspect then as the segements move up the scale I can use lively songs to express the joy and other aspects of this digital project where the face i& eyes are used to convey emotion or reflect feelings.the first segment of Dolls R Us. Doll Face

The anonymous author of the purported sequel to "The Catcher in the Rye," which has triggered a lawsuit by J.D. Salinger, is a Swedish man whose previous published works include "The Macho Man's (Bad) Joke Book," "The Erotic A-Z," and a volume listing the 100 best heavy metal albums.
Fredrik Colting, 32, acknowledged in an interview this week that he wrote the book "60 Years Later: Coming Through the Rye," which Salinger has branded a "rip-off pure and simple" and triggered the reclusive 90-year-old author to file a federal copyright lawsuit. In a June 5 U.S. District Court order signed by Judge Deborah Batts, Colting is identified as "Fredrik Colting writing under the pseudonym John David California," or J.D. California. A copy of the Batts order can be found below. Colting told TSG that, along with a partner, he has produced a variety of humor or "quirk" titles, but that "60 Years Later" was his "first published novel." Colting, pictured at right, denied that the book was a "Catcher" sequel and said he was surprised that Salinger filed a copyright claim: "I'm Swedish, we don't sue people here." Pending a June 17 court hearing, Colting, who runs Nicotext, a small Sweden-based publishing company, has agreed not to distribute "60 Years Later" in the United States.
Additionally, since the book recently went on sale in England, Colting agreed to ask Amazon.com and another online retailer to not ship the book to U.S. customers. A purported photo of "California" appeared last month in England's Daily Telegraph, but the picture was actually of actor Gustav Roth, a friend of Colting. "It was a bit tricky of us but we did it without any bad intentions," Colting wrote in an e-mail. "I mean, the whole point of a pseudonym is it being a secret."The anonymous author of the purported sequel to "The Catcher in the Rye," which has... more

LORDS OF THE SAMURAI
June 12–September 20, 2009
“Culture and arms are like the two wings of a bird, so just as it’s impossible to fly with one wing missing, if you have culture but no arms, people will slight you without fear, while if you have arms but no culture, people will be alienated by fear.”
—From Instructions for Japanese Men
by Izawa Nagahide (samurai-scholar active approx. 1711–1732)
The Exhibition Lords of the Samurai
This special exhibition opens in the museum’s Lee Gallery (ground floor) where a suit of armor—one of six suits on view—takes center stage. This suit is a reproduction of the famous armor worn by the founder of the Hosokawa clan, Hosokawa Yoriari (1331–1390). The authentic reproduction was made at the order of the eleventh-generation daimyo, Hosokawa Naritatsu (1789–1826), during a time when such reproductions were fashionable. This armor is of a type used primarily for one-on-one mounted combat. The armor’s heavy ornamentation and detailed decorative elements made it suitable for funeral attire as well, should the wearer be defeated in battle. All six suits of armor in the exhibition will be on view during both rotations.

Based on a true story. While strolling down a Washington DC street toward Freedom Plaza, an Iraqi news correspondent confides a shocking secret to her colleague, an American news cameraman.
Freedom Plaza was an Official Selection in the 2007 Palm Springs International
Festival of Shorts.
----------------------------------------------------------
I made this 5 minute short after becoming acquainted with an Iraqi news reporter in Washington DC over the period of about a year. After this conversation I immediately sat down and wrote it all down as the words and emotions were fresh. This is almost the exact dialog we had while walking down the street together that afternoon.
I was just trying to capture that moment in time, the concept that even though it was so relevant it was only one of a thousand conversations on a Washington DC street, coming out of nowhere into earshot and then disappearing, like it never happened with noone the wiser. Also, the redundant question about the leg was much worse in reality.
What I really learned is that even though I pay strict attention to current events and I feel that I am on top of those events, they always kept their distance. The harsh truth and reality of war was right next to me, my friend, and I didn't know. This delicate, petite woman was tougher and stronger than I ever could be.
I was inspired to post this for free by the Truly Free Film blog at
http://trulyfreefilm.blogspot.com/
The blog is dedicated to the support and survival of independent filmmakers and
their art. If you are an independent filmmaker, this is the ultimate resource site
for free information on independent funding, production and distribution. It is
about indie filmmakers supporting each other and working together to create a new infrastructure for exhibition and distribution of their work and the preservation of Net Neutrality.
