A recent study released by two Texas Tech professors found the more fundamental the Christian beliefs of college students are, the more likely those students are to commit domestic abuse.
A survey distributed to more than 600 undergraduate students shows that the more fundamental the Christian beliefs college students adopt, the more likely they are to approve of or become violent in their intimate relationships.
The study measured fundamental Christian values using a survey created by a Christian group. The study defined Christian fundamentalism as a system of beliefs and practices rooted in a literal interpretation of the Bible, being born-again, and the belief that following strict behavior through a Christian fellowship leads to eternal life.

A jury in Arkansas convicted evangelist Tony Alamo on Friday of 10 federal counts of taking minors across state lines for sex, according to the court in the Western District in Arkansas.
Authorities in September charged Alamo, the 74-year-old founder and leader of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, and raided his 15-acre compound near Texarkana, Arkansas.
Jurors reached the verdict after more than eight hours of deliberations. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
Between March 1994 and October 2005, Alamo transported five girls younger than 18 across state lines for sex, according to the indictment.
The criminal complaint included accounts from three of the girls, two of whom were 17 when the complaint was filed last year and one who was 14. All three said Alamo sexually abused them.
Alamo, whose real name is Bernie Hoffman, had denied all wrongdoing. In a phone interview last year with CNN, he called the accusations a hoax.
"They're just trying to make our church look evil ... by saying I'm a pornographer. Saying that I rape little children. ... I love children. I don't abuse them. Never have. Never will."
Asked why authorities were searching the property, Alamo compared himself to Christ.
"Why were they after Jesus," he asked. "It's the same reason. Jesus is living within me."
Alamo also has compounds in Oklahoma and New Jersey.

My favorite part is that they refer to themselves as "Christians".
Bob Jones University has apologized for racist policies, including a one-time ban on interracial dating and its unwillingness to admit black students until 1971.
The private fundamentalist Christian school founded in 1927 said its rules on race were shaped by culture instead of the Bible, according to a statement on the university's Web site.
The university, with about 5,000 students, didn't begin admitting black students until nearly 20 years after the U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling found public segregated schools were unconstitutional. The interracial dating ban was lifted in March 2000, not long after the policy became an issue in the Republican presidential primary that yearMy favorite part is that they refer to themselves as "Christians".

Members of a Jacksonville church gathered to burn at least 100 reels of X-rated movies from the '70s and '80s that were discovered recently when the church bought on old drive-in theater.
The 300-member congregation of Christ Church Anglican held a special service Sunday afternoon, which included a ceremonial burning and a "holy hose-down" with water from a Jacksonville Fire and Rescue truck blessed by the priest.
Christ Church purchased the 13-acre drive-in for $1.4 million after the 60-year-old theater closed in May. The church closed on the deal a few weeks ago and discovered the porn stash when they began cleaning up.
The Rev. Mark Eldredge says the church plans to show family movies to the public after some repairs are done.Members of a Jacksonville church gathered to burn at least 100 reels of X-rated movies... more

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin were planning on getting hitched before all this vice president and baby nonsense.
"We were planning on getting married a long time ago with or without the kid," he tells Associated Press. "That was the plan from the start."
The baby, which he hints will be a boy, is due Dec. 18. "I'm looking forward to having him," he said. "I'm going to take him hunting and fishing. He'll be everywhere with me."
He may not have that much free time since he’s dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician.
Johnston says that MySpace page was made by his pals as a joke a few years ago. He also says he's dated Palin since his freshman year in high school. Their wedding will be next summer, and two of his hockey buddies will be his groomsmen.
This guy loves to hunt and has bagged bears, sheep, elk and caribou. According to AP, some antlers are scattered about his yard. He even lost a promise ring Palin gave him on a caribou hunt last July. So he decided to tattoo her name on the finger and not bother with more rings because he'd just lose the darn things anyway.
That wasn't a command performance at the RNC; Bristol invited him, and he was thrilled to attend.
"At first, I was nervous," he said. "Then I was like, 'Whatever.' "
Asked about Barack Obama, Bristol’s babydaddy says: "I don't know anything about him. He seems like a good guy. I like him."
But Levi won’t be voting for Barack. Or Sarah Palin for that matter. He didn't register in time.
You gotta love it.
