This guy is just amazing. Talking to reporters in Israel, Joe suggested that journalists shouldn't be allowed anywhere near war zones: "I don't think journalists should be anywhere allowed war (sic). I mean, you guys report where our troops are at. You report what's happening day to day. You make a big deal out of it. I think it's asinine. You know, I liked back in World War I and World War II when you'd go to the theater and you'd see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for them. Now everyone's got an opinion and wants to downer-and down soldiers. You know, American soldiers or Israeli soldiers."
- Another masterpiece work from Joe the Plumber:
JOE: The story here is people are being killed and the media's slanting it and trying to make it Hamas is, uh, as far as, that Israel's being bad. Do you believe Israel is bad?
REPORTER: Do I believe it?
JOE: Yeah, do you?!
REPORTER: I'm Israeli, so...
JOE: So answer the question!

Joe the Plumber – aka Samuel Wurzelbacher – has begun his new job as a reporter covering the Gaza war by berating the Israeli press for not being patriotic enough.
The fledgling war correspondent for Pajamas Media website spent his first day on the job in the frontline Israeli city of Sderot.
And then he rounded on the Israeli reporters whose newspapers have been criticised by some as no better than cheerleaders for the war. Wurzelbacher thought they hadn't been supportive enough.
Having answered a few questions himself, Joe the Plumber was suddenly called on to get back to being a reporter.

Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher, the man who achieved overnight fame as a GOP-branded poster boy for middle America during the 2008 presidential race and later a political pundit, conservative media darling and possible candidate for Congress, has graduated to the title of "War Correspondent" for conservative site Pajamas TV.
Pajamas TV sounds legit to me. He should make a great war correspondant. It's not like the GOP would intentionally do anything to embarrass themselves.Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher, the man who achieved overnight fame as a... more

Joe the Plumber: McCain "Appalled Me," Made Me Feel "Dirty"
Of all the McCainiacs to throw their former leader under the Straight Talk Express, this was the most unexpected, and perhaps the cruelest. Joe the Plumber—who is sometimes called Joe Wurzelbacher—told radio host Glenn Beck that he was “appalled” by McCain during the campaign. Joe had apparently asked McCain about the $700 billion bailout back in the fall. “I asked him some pretty direct questions,” the Plumber said. “Some of the answers you guys are gonna receive—they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.” However, it seems the Plumber is merely stepping off one bus to board another. He told Beck that Sarah Palin was “absolutely the real deal.”Joe the Plumber: McCain "Appalled Me," Made Me Feel "Dirty"

Politico reports that Joe Wurzelbacher isn't a huge fan of the man who made him famous. He told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt "dirty" after "being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place."
"I honestly felt even more dirty after I had been on the campaign trail and seen some things that take place. It was scary, man," Wurzelbacher said. He told Beck he asked McCain "some pretty direct questions" about the bailout, and wasn't pleased with the response. "They appalled me, absolutely. You know, I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.
Asked why he didn't leave McCain's campaign if he was "appalled" by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, "Honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more."
While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain, he gushed about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal," he said.
"You know, I only got to spend a short amount of time with her but, you know, it was been asked if I felt any presence when I was with John McCain or Barack Obama. You know, with Sarah Palin, I don't want to say I felt a presence but she definitely had energy and she definitely went to work for American people, and it disgusts me on how often they try to bash her just for her sincerity. It's just, you know, she really wants to work for America and I mean, I wish people would listen to her and let them, and let her work for us. You know, she wants to serve us. She's not looking for power."

The state worker who unwittingly ran an improper child-support check on the man known as Joe the Plumber told lawmakers yesterday that a deputy director later dictated how she was supposed to cover it up.
Vanessa Niekamp, an administrator for the Ohio Department of Job and Family ServicesOffice of Child Support and a 15-year state employee, said that when Deputy Director Doug Thompson came into her office, he appeared very upset, his neck was bright red, and he was shaking. He closed my door.
Thompson told her she must write an e-mail to the agency s information-security officer, and then dictated word for word what she wrote, Niekamp said. He also reminded her that she could be fired at any time, she said.
"Within an hour, I took the rest of the day off -- again using my vacation time -- and went directly to the office of the inspector general. I told them everything I knew about what happened.

Just when we thought the world was no longer laughing at us comes the news that Joe the Plumber aka Samuel Wurzelbacher will be a published author. As if Sarah Palin's media blitz weren't annoying enough, I'm wondering when his 15-minute clock of fame will expire. Unlike Palin whose book deal will reportedly be worth over $10 million, the uncertified and currently unemployed "plumber" signed a book deal reportedly worth $250,000 with Pearlgate Publishing to "co-write" Joe the Plumber - Fighting for the American Dream (vomit now). He claims all the big publishers had been courting him with more lucrative deals but he decided to go with the small Austin publisher (with just one book under its belt) to "spread the wealth around.". The book drops on December 1st for $23. Look for it in the bargain bins on December 2nd for $0.99. The man who shot to fame in the recent US presidential election as "Joe the Plumber" is set to become "Joe the Published" after signing a book deal.
Samuel Wurzelbacher's book, Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream, will address his ideas about American values, his publisher says.
Mr Wurzelbacher sprang to fame when he challenged President-elect Barack Obama about his tax proposals in October.
He said he had chosen a small publisher in order to help "spread the wealth".
The term is a reference to the phrase used by Mr Obama when responding to a question from Mr Wurzelbacher about raising taxes for people who earn more than $250,000 (£166,000) a year.
The Republican candidate, Senator John McCain, later used the term in an effort to discredit Mr Obama's tax policies, and gave Mr Wurzelbacher a starring role in his campaign rallies and debates. The man who shot to fame in the recent US presidential election as "Joe the... more

Man, it doesn't get any better than this. Joe the Plumbing Hobbyist, who thinks a 3% marginal tax increase for people who earn a quarter-mil per is socialism (He checked it in the Webster dictionary, whatever that is), is himself a "fellow traveler."
That's right, folks, Joe the Wrench Jockey was once a lazy, no-good recipient of other people's hard-earned tax dollars. Mine, in fact. So, when Joe says he "supports" liberals so we can be "more vocal," he must be referring to some kind of moral support. (h/t Crooks and Liars)
Well, damn,Comrade, it didn't bother your precious principles when you were on the dole.
I'm going to say this one more time, for Joe and everyone like him. You don't speak for the working class. When I was growing up, I was taught that a man lives up to his responsibilities, including paying his taxes. He might not like what they were spent on, but he paid his fair share without whining.
I hope Joe keeps going on TV, popping off about all of the ways middle and lower class Republicans vote against their own interests. It seems to have gotten through to a bunch, but we've got a big tent over here at Big D Democracy. Keep 'em coming, Joe.Man, it doesn't get any better than this. Chief author of the Republican "Contract with America" and former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey writes an interesting piece for the Wall Street which criticizes Bush's "compassionate conservatism". Of course, he takes his shots at Obama as well.
"Parties are all about getting people elected to political office; and the practice of politics too often takes the form of professional juvenile delinquency: short-sighted and self-centered.
This was certainly true of the Bush presidency. Too often the policy agenda was determined by short-sighted political considerations and an abiding fear that the public simply would not understand limited government and expanded individual freedoms. How else do we explain 'compassionate conservatism,' No Child Left Behind, the Medicare drug benefit and the most dramatic growth in federal spending since LBJ's Great Society?
John McCain has long suffered from philosophical confusions about free markets, and his presidential campaign reflected as much. Most striking was his inability to explain his own health-care proposal, or to defend his tax cuts and tax reform. Ultimately, it took a plumber from Ohio to identify the real nature of Barack Obama's plan to 'spread the wealth.' "

Reporting from Delaware, Ohio -- John McCain has targeted this wealthy area just north of Columbus as one of 15 counties in Ohio where he needs to drive up his vote tally if he is to beat Barack Obama on Tuesday in this must-win state.
But on Friday night, only nine volunteers manned the 24 phones in the McCain campaign office. The phone bank began operating on a daily basis just two weeks ago. And since then, only five people have shown up on most weekdays to canvass local neighborhoods.
Obama's campaign, in contrast, has flooded this GOP bastion with volunteers. Some canvassers first hit the winding streets of nearby subdivisions in March during the Democratic primary, and they have worked almost nonstop since in search of supporters.

What next? Reality show? Talk show host? ergh!
Like all good celebrities, Joe the Plumber - the unofficial star of the last presidential debate - has hired a publicity team.
The Press Office in Nashville, where clients include rockers Grand Funk Railroad and Eddie Money, will help him handle the flood of interview and appearance requests that have poured in since he became famous after John McCain and Barack Obama repeatedly mentioned him during their Oct. 15 debate.
"It's like any other celebrity who is in the public eye," said Jim Della Croce, who owns the agency. "There needs to be someone acting as a clearinghouse and interpreting the opportunities and coordinating the media requests, and he truly is being inundated."
Despite rumors to the contrary, he's not planning to release an album, though a book is in the works.
"He's not doing a country record," Della Croce said flatly Thursday. "I think that was an angle that was presumptuous."
Joe the Plumber, whose real name is Samuel J. "Joe" Wurzelbacher, gained national attention some weeks ago when Obama told the 34-year-old during a campaign stop in Ohio that he wanted to "spread the wealth around."
Their exchange about Obama's tax plan aired countless times on cable news programs. McCain repeatedly cited Joe the Plumber in a debate, saying Obama's plan would hurt people like him who want to own their own businesses.
Wurzelbacher campaigned for the Republican ticket on his own bus tour around Ohio this week and appeared with Sarah Palin on Wednesday. His name comes up at just about every Republican rally.
But with the election next week, what's next?
A lot of things are too premature to talk about, Della Croce said, but a book is already planned.
"Certainly Joe will go down in history and will be a celebrity regardless of which way the election turns," Della Croce said. "He is a curiosity. He's touched a nerve with the common man, and people are curious as to what's on his mind. I think he speaks for a lot of people."
So many, apparently, that he needs three managers at The Press Office, among them country singer Aaron Tippin. Wurzelbacher met Tippin, also a McCain supporter, when they appeared on former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's Fox News talk show.
The media scrutiny hasn't always been kind to Wurzelbacher, who turned out to be an unlicensed plumber with unpaid back taxes.
At first, Wurzelbacher insisted he wanted no part of the spotlight and predicted he'd be a small footnote in the campaign.
"I'm a flash in the pan, a novelty. It's going to be a fun couple of days," he said.
It has lasted much longer.
Della Croce has managed rock stars, but Joe the Plumber is a special case.
"Never in 25 years have I seen this level of interest in a celebrity," Della Croce said. What next? Reality show? Talk show host? ergh!
