As thousands of Austrians continue to mourn the death of far right politician Jorg Haider, new rumours have emerged surrounding his death in a car crash - including that he was drinking in a gay bar before the fatal accident.
Yesterday, his widow (51) cried at his rose-covered coffin while the police, army and fire brigade formed a guard of honour. Hundreds of mourners waited in line to pay their respects in the provincial parliament building in Klagenfurt.
Five days after his death, the official mourning for the governor of Corinthia began. It is He had apparently been drink driving, with a blood alcohol level of 1.8 per mill. According to one newspaper, Haider had been driving at 170kmh rather than the previously reported 140 kmh before his death.
And in another shocking twist, it has been revealed that when Haider left the upmarket ‘Le Cabaret’ club in Worthersee, he didn’t head home - instead, he visited a local bar in Klagenfurt.

The ‘Stadtkramer’ is described online as ‘young or old, gay or lesbian, this bar is the place for you’. Their speciality is Jagermeister liquor on tap.
How much alcohol Haider actually consumed is unclear. Local authorities have reported that Haider was offered a lift home from the ‘Stadtkramer’ but declined.

Before he got behind the wheel, Haider gave his last interview, and said: “I really like white wine, especially Italian.” The ‘Osterreich’ newspaper reported that he had been slurring his speech slightly.
At 00.45am, the politician set out in his Volkswagen Phaeton for the last time. Half an hour later, he was dead.
His funeral will take place tomorrow, and over 30,000 people are expected to attend.
