WHEN a Fox News anchor, reacting to his own network’s surging e-mail traffic, warns urgently on-camera of a rise in hate-filled, “amped up” Americans who are “taking the extra step and getting the gun out,” maybe we should listen. He has better sources in that underground than most.
The anchor was Shepard Smith, speaking after Wednesday’s mayhem at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. Unlike the bloviators at his network and elsewhere on cable, Smith is famous for his highly caffeinated news-reading, not any political agenda. But very occasionally — notably during Hurricane Katrina — he hits the Howard Beale mad-as-hell wall. Joining those at Fox who routinely disregard the network’s “We report, you decide” mantra, he both reported and decided, loudly.
What he reported was this: his e-mail from viewers had “become more and more frightening” in recent months, dating back to the election season. From Wednesday alone, he “could read a hundred” messages spewing “hate that’s not based in fact,” much of it about Barack Obama and some of it sharing the museum gunman’s canard that the president was not a naturally born citizen. These are Americans “out there in a scary place,” Smith said.
Then he brought up another recent gunman: “If you’re one who believes that abortion is murder, at what point do you go out and kill someone who’s performing abortions?” An answer, he said, was provided by Dr. George Tiller’s killer. He went on: “If you are one who believes these sorts of things about the president of the United States ...” He left the rest of that chilling sentence unsaid.WHEN a Fox News anchor, reacting to his own network’s surging e-mail traffic,... more

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - On a recent Saturday afternoon, hate was on the march in St. Louis. About 85 members of the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the nation’s largest neo-Nazi group, gathered in the shadow of the famed Gateway Arch for a march and rally celebrating its 35th anniversary.
Clad in all black, with their pants tucked into tightly laced combat boots, the group carried swastika flags and signs urging immigrants to leave the country. They chanted “Sieg Heil,” a popular rallying cry in World War II Germany, accompanied by a Nazi salute: one arm outstretched, fingers tightly joined, palms facing down.
Their critics say that groups like NSM are the faces of homegrown hate, something the NSM denies. They instead call themselves a “white civil rights organization.” Its ultimate goal is to whitewash America. If they had their way, U.S. citizenship would be limited to “those of pure white blood”; minorities would live in the country as guests. All Jewish people and gays would be forced to leave and immigration would be prohibited.
As shocking as those views are, groups like this are more popular than ever.
“Right across the board, extremist groups are thriving right now,” says Mark Potok, Director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project.
The SPLC has been tracking hate groups for almost 30 years. In its spring 2009 Intelligence Report, they found that 926 hate groups are currently operating in the U.S., an all-time high. These groups include the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, racist skinheads and Black separatists.
Potok attributes this rise in hate groups to the recession, the election of the nation’s first black president, and the immigration debate.
“We’re looking at a kind of perfect storm of factors that really favor the continued growth of these groups,” he says.

"US beauty queen could lose title
Miss California Carrie Prejean could be stripped of her title after organisers say she breached her contract by keeping topless photos secret.
A spokesman for the pageant said her disqualification was being discussed.
Apart from not being up front over the semi-nude pictures which appeared on an internet site, organisers of the Miss California USA pageant say Carrie Prejean also breached her contract by appearing unauthorised in commercials."
Now, let's get this straight, if that's the appropriate word here, there is no commandment amongst the Ten Commandments that has anything whatsoever to do with homosexuality, one way or the other, but there are two little inconvenient ones: "Thou shalt not lie," and "Thou shalt not bear false witness."
Apparently, "Christian" Carrie Prejean has no problem at all breaking those two by lying to the Miss California Beauty Pageant about her semi-nude photographs and by appearing in a dishonest, hateful NOM advertisement."US beauty queen could lose title

"No Offence, But You Deserve To Be Killed--From Miss California"
YouTube has produced some splendid parodies of Miss California's little hate speech--it's just the way she was raised, you know--as well as some good ones of the latest NOM advertisement.
This one is pretty clever and rather funny."No Offence, But You Deserve To Be Killed--From Miss California"

If you haven't seen Inofuiwell's posting "A rainbow Coalition of people Everywhere are coming together in LOVE to prevent same sex marriage?," you should take a look at the original video contained therein.
The National Organization for Marriage put up a lot of money and hired actors to portray terrified Americans scared that all of their liberties will be taken away by the evils of gay marriage.
Unfortunately, for them, the Human Rights Campaign, the leading gay and lesbian rights group in this country, not only got ahold of their video, but it, also, acquired the tapes of the auditions.
Needless to say, all the creative folks at YouTube have had a field day with this one.
This is one of the best parodies. Enjoy! If you haven't seen Inofuiwell's posting "A rainbow Coalition of people... more

i try to be open minded about news stations and give different shows - even with my left wing tendencies- a real shot. so i have heard non stop talk among friends that fox is full of right wing propaganda and goes beyond just leaning right. so i decide to tune in for myself for a couple days and i really cant say i disagree. i feel it is obviously right wing and dare i say - proud about it. i get a real preconceived vibe and it definitely didn't sit well with me, or most people i know. now im not saying sensor it - or getting crazy, i just think they are blatantly right winged the majority of the time and should own up to it.i try to be open minded about news stations and give different shows - even with my... more

Where to even start.
This is going to be a rant, but I encourage you all to read it and spread it along. I understand that I'm preaching to the choir but this should be a marketplace of ideas that we can share in our fight against the right.
Anyway, here we go.
Right-wingers are enitrely hypocritical. Allow me to explain. They love the phrase "limited government". We all know this is shit. We can look at the government under George W Bush and see that the Federal Gov't expanded it's power exponentially with no outrage from the right.
What right-wingers actually mean when they say "limited government" is "selective government". They love big gov't as long is it does what they want.
Ask a right winger you know the following things and the conversation is sure to sound like this:
You: So, you believe in limited government and keeping the gov't out of people's lives?
RW: Yes!
You: OK Great! So I can get stoned today! I've been holding on to this joint for awhile and I can't wait to get home and smoke it!
RW: Well, no. No, that's illegal.
You: Um, ok. So I have a gay friend and he wants to marry his boyfriend, is that OK?
RW: No, no, not that either. We want the government to make that illegal. In fact, we want it to be put into the constitution that only a man and woman can get married.
You: Ok, well, that doesn't sound like you support limited government, but Ok. So can my girlfriend choose to get an abortion if she gets pregnant?
RW: No, no way! That should be illegal too.
So the right-wingers want the government to tell me what state of mind I can be in! And they want to tell me who I can and can't marry! And they want to tell my girlfriend or wife and other women that they can't get abortions! How is that "limited government" or "keeping government out of people's lives"? It's horse shit! It's a ridiculous catchphrase.
You know, if someone talks about supporting national healthcare, or increasing benefits for people, or giving people homes and jobs, because it's for the good of society and it's good for the country, what does a right winger do? Goes for the guns and screams "SOCIALISM!!!!"
They love to talk about how there is no such thing as "for the good of society". Margaret Thatcher even said "there is no such thing as society".
What a crock!
And what magically appears whenever you ask a right winger about gay marriage, abortion, national healthcare, etc? Society!!! They think gay marriage will destroy society! They think abortion will cause the collapse of families and society! They say drugs will cause the collapse of society!!
So it's just hypocritical nonsense. They DO NOT support limited government and don't let them get away with it, either! They support selective government, invading people's lives and telling them what to do whenever they feel something is bad for the "society" that they don't believe exists!
So the next time you hear some idiot right winger talking about "limited government", ask them if drugs should be legal along with gay marriage and abortion. After all, you want the government out of people's lives too!
:)Where to even start.
This is going to be a rant, but I encourage you all to read it... more

Obama made some scary statements recently when he told Republicans to quit listening to Rush Limbaugh. Also, while discussing the stimulus package with top lawmakers in the White House's Roosevelt Room, President Obama shot down a critic with a simple message.
"I won," he said, according to aides who were briefed on the meeting. "I will trump you on that."
Did we just elect Vladimir Putin?
Seriously, this may be the scariest thing I've heard come from the mouth of a United States President. !960's Cuba comes to mind, but not a US president. This kind of rhetoric is unacceptable. Even the left should not defend this.

It looks like 2009 will be a very unchanged year for Fox News' bad habits.
On New Years Eve, Fox News Channel allowed folks to text in Happy New Years wishes to be scrolled at the bottom of the screen where news headlines are usually featured. One text I guess "slipped" through the screening process, where someone referenced to the racist "Barack the Magic Negro" song:

YouTube doesn't just have Nazis, it has fundamentalist freaks.
This weirdo freaks the living shit out of me. He doesn't even hide the fact that he'd like to kill gays. He condones the death penalty for homosexuality. Plus, he has a whole bunch of gun-related videos as his favorites. This guy is some piece of work.
I know for a fact that he's all for killing gays, atheists, feminists, and possibly non-Christians. If you can, bomb his YouTube profile with nasty comments...or overwhealm his demented mind with rationalism.
He's different than other conservatives. Most are just stupid, but he's one of those ones with intelligence - the ones who know how to do some real bad shit.YouTube doesn't just have Nazis, it has fundamentalist freaks.

Last week, the release of the Branchflower Report added another ring to the Palin Family Circus. The investigation, commissioned in August by a bipartisan legislative council, concluded that while the Alaskan governor and Republican vice presidential candidate acted within the scope of her constitutional authority by firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan earlier this summer, she had violated the state’s ethics statutes by allowing state personnel and state resources to be used to settle a private grudge against Mike Wooten, a trooper who’d formerly been married to Sarah Palin’s sister.
The report devoted particular attention to the governor’s husband, Todd Palin, who repeatedly urged Monegan and other state officials to revisit a closed investigation into Wooten’s conduct. Given the acute national interest in the story, the results of the “Troopergate” probe obviously touched on, and further undermined, Sarah Palin’s image as a maverick reformer. But they also introduced non-Alaskans to questions that have long been raised about the so-called “First Dude” and the unusual role he’s played in his wife’s administration.
Shortly after the report’s release, as the governor’s supporters peddled the dubious claim that it had somehow vindicated Sarah Palin, McCain campaign spokesperson Taylor Griffin addressed the report’s strong criticism of Todd Palin’s efforts to have Wooten removed from his job. With a straight face, Griffin argued that Palin’s involvement in his wife’s work was, broadly speaking, comparable to Eleanor Roosevelt’s commitment to civil rights or Hillary Clinton’s work on health care reform. (There was no word on Palin’s resemblance to Mamie Eisenhower, who drew national praise in the mid-1950s for her “million dollar fudge” recipe.)
But Alaskan political observers have been pointing out for some time that no one can quite figure out what Todd Palin’s precise duties include. As Mike Madden wrote in a Salon profile last month, Todd Palin “lurks around the capitol if he doesn’t have anything better to do, which, since he works seasonal jobs in oil and fishing, is fairly often.” Business owner and blogger Andrew Halcro, who was the first to allege an unseemly motivation for Monegan’s firing, has been less charitable, describing Todd Palin as a “shadow governor.”
Though he is not officially a member of the executive branch, Palin is renowned for attending meetings with the governor and legislators or other public officials, many of whom have described his (almost totally silent) presence as odd or even discomfiting. Todd Palin, for example, has been copied on e-mails related to policy and personnel matters, and he’s taken numerous trips — with and without his wife — as a representative of the state.
By his own account, Palin regards none of this as inappropriate. In his deposition with the legislative investigators, Palin insisted that he and his wife were being subjected to “double standards,” since few questions had ever been raised about the involvement of spouses in previous administrations. Though Palin’s objection bore a kernel of truth, he had nevertheless overlooked the fact that gubernatorial spouses traditionally did not involve themselves directly in budgetary decisions, nor did they lobby legislators — as Palin did — regarding tax policies.

In an television appearance that outraged Democrats are already describing as Joseph McCarthy politics, Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann claimed on Friday that Barack Obama and his wife Michelle held anti-American views and couldn't be trusted in the White House. She even called for the major newspapers of the country to investigate other members of Congress to "find out if they are pro-America or anti-America."
