Does character still matter to the Republican Party? We are about to find out. Today, a woman named Sharon Bialek fundamentally altered the race for the Republican nomination in 2012. The Herman Cain sex scandal is not going away, and either Herman Cain is lying or all of these women that are accusing Cain of sexual misconduct are lying. Normally, I would not write about unproven sex scandal rumors. And it is very important to note that the charges against Herman Cain have not been proven yet. But Bialek now represents the fourth alleged incident of sexual misconduct by Herman Cain. What makes things a lot worse is the Cain was married when all of these alleged incidents took place. At this point, Cain is denying that any sexual harassment ever took place. Cain says that he is perfectly innocent. So will we find out the truth? More importantly, will Republican voters demand the truth or will they just allow this whole thing to be brushed under the rug? Back during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Republicans insisted over and over that "character still matters" when it comes to selecting our leaders. Well, now that a candidate that millions of Republicans have fallen in love with has been accused of sexual misconduct we will see what Republicans actually do believe about character.Does character still matter to the Republican Party? We are about to find out.... more

“(I)f anyone will not work, neither should he eat,” Bachmann said.
What this Republican presidential candidate is apparently overlooking, however, is that the number of job openings in the country is far, far less than the number of unemployed.
According to the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 3.1 million job openings in the country.
The number of unemployed, though, is 13.9 million, says BLS. That’s more than four times greater than the number of jobs available.
Add in the fact that a majority of those 13.9 million Americans (52 percent) are not receiving any unemployment benefits whatsoever, and it stands apparent that Bachmann’s goal is already underway: they have no money to buy food to begin with.

According to The Healthy Home Economist (HHE), California's Assembly Bill 499 has already quietly passed both the California House and Senate, and today sits on the desk of Gov. Jerry Brown where it awaits his signature. The bill, which is only a single page in length, contains specific language that will allow children as young as 12 to opt for sexually-transmitted disease (STD) vaccines like HPV (Gardasil, Cervarix), Hepatitis B, and any future vaccines developed to treat STDs, without having to attain parental consent.
You can view a full copy of the bill, as it was passed, here:
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=ab_499&sess=CUR&house=B
Apparently devoid of all conscience, soul, and any trace of respect for human life and dignity, the drug industry is now resorting to new lows to force its deadly vaccines on the unsuspecting public. If Big Pharma cannot convince people to take the deadly shots of their own free will, then the poisons must be secretly injected into the weakest and most vulnerable members of society, the children, without their parents knowing about it.
Drug giant Merck & Co. attempted a similar approach back in 2007 when it influenced political lackey Gov. Rick Perry to sign an egregious executive order mandating that all young girls in the Lone Star State receive the HPV vaccine Gardasil upon being enrolled in school.

Barbara Stanwyck: "We're both rotten!"
Fred MacMurray: "Yeah - only you're a little more rotten." -"Double Indemnity" (1944)
Those lines of dialogue from a classic film noir sum up the state of the two political parties in contemporary America. Both parties are rotten - how could they not be, given the complete infestation of the political system by corporate money on a scale that now requires a presidential candidate to raise upwards of a billion dollars to be competitive in the general election? Both parties are captives to corporate loot. The main reason the Democrats' health care bill will be a budget buster once it fully phases in is the Democrats' rank capitulation to corporate interests - no single-payer system, in order to mollify the insurers; and no negotiation of drug prices, a craven surrender to Big Pharma.
But both parties are not rotten in quite the same way. The Democrats have their share of machine politicians, careerists, corporate bagmen, egomaniacs and kooks. Nothing, however, quite matches the modern GOP.......

Even though I'm not a big John Stewart fan, this is a great must see clip!
I was listening to NPR yesterday morning and they barely mentioned Ron Paul razor thin second place victory, and focused on Michelle Bachman and Rick Perry, even though Rick Perrry wasn't even on the ballot.
I heard that Michelle Bachmann's campaign bought straw poll tickets on her behalf and had she not done this, Ron Paul would have been the clear winner.Even though I'm not a big John Stewart fan, this is a great must see clip!

The straight-ahead shot of Michelle Bachmann on the cover of this week's Newsweek, taken by freelance photographer Chris Buck in a Washington, D.C., hotel room, “raises eyebrows,” according to The Huffington Post. “There’s no denying that Bachmann firmly believes what she believes. Some might think she’s crazy because of it. Cover photos like this one help to cement that image,” wrote The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart. “It’s sexist,” NOW president Terry O’Neill told The Daily Caller. “Casting her in that expression and then adding ‘The Queen of Rage’ I think [it is]. Gloria Steinem has a very simple test: If this were done to a man or would it ever be done to a man—has it ever been done to a man? Surely this has never been done to a man.” (Steinem was actually featured in the same issue of Newsweek). Said Newsweek editor in chief Tina Brown in a statement, “Michele Bachmann’s intensity is galvanizing voters in Iowa right now and Newsweek’s cover captures that." Many of the photographs taken for the feature showed Bachmann with similar intensity. Here are more images from the shoot, including some used inside the magazine, showing Bachmann in the nation’s capital and on the trail in Iowa.

With a combined total of $35 million in campaign funds, Republican presidential candidates are still falling behind President Obama’s whopping $86 million fundraising haul, a deficit that no doubt has some campaign managers stressed about their financial futures.
Michele Bachmann, however, need not worry, because the Minnesota Representative is the only declared presidential candidate to have received a fiduciary blessing from the GOP’s current financial kingmakers, Charles and David Koch.
According to Koch Industries’ FEC files, the company’s political action committee has already donated $5,000 to Bachmann’s presidential primary bid, suggesting that pundits, including myself, may be wrong about the Republican’s odds of wooing elite insiders who are jittery over such a radically fundamentalist candidate.
While Bachmann’s social conservative peer Rick Santorum has received $15,000 from the Koch brothers in the past, he has not yet received a donation for the 2012 race.
Looking over Koch Industries’ FEC documents, it becomes clear the Koch brothers have always had Bachmann’s back: the company’s PAC has given her $30,000 in campaign cash since 2006, the year of her first Congressional election. (Note: Bachmann has yet to release her primary fundraising numbers.)
In other Koch giving news, the company recently gave the Blue Dog Political Action Committee, a group devoted to electing moderate Democrats
, $5,000, bringing their total donations to that organization to $56,000 since 1999, according to the FEC....
