Back in the Totalitarian Corporate Plutocracy of Fitzwalkerstan, formerly Wisconsin, things look pretty bleak for Fartfuhrer Walker, as he is at bay, desperately seeking escape from both the law and the people. It appears so unlikely that the Fartfuhrer can hang on, that the heroes of Wisconsin have a great opportunity to restore their state from the clutches of Republican tyranny.Back in the Totalitarian Corporate Plutocracy of Fitzwalkerstan, formerly Wisconsin,... more

After politicizing women’s health by tying their so-called charity to Republican misogyny, the Susan G. Komen continues to struggle to regain standing without coming clean about what they did and why they did it. The Republican ideologue who spearheaded Komen’s war on women’s rights stepped down today. After politicizing women’s health by tying their so-called charity to Republican... more

As campaign season rolls along, Republicans everywhere have been using dog whistle language, and sometimes direct statements, to demean minorities. Republicans seem unable to function without the politics of fear and hate. One Republican candidate for the US Senate faced a terrible dilemma. He could not attack black people, because Michigan has such a large black population, so he went after Asians instead. As campaign season rolls along, Republicans everywhere have been using dog whistle... more

Common wisdom holds that the near collapse 0f 2008 snuck up on us, and that nobody saw it coming. Common wisdom is wrong. Lots of people saw it coming, and I was one of them, so it didn’t take rocket science to figure it out. In 2007 I was discussing how Republicans realized they were on the way out, and they were setting the US up for an economics crisis, so they could blame their successor, and present themselves as the solution. I was wrong about the timing. I expected it to come in the first quarter of 2009, but it did in the last quarter of 2008. I was also wrong about the scope. I did not expect it to be this severe. Republicans are now changing their lies and often saying that Obama is responsible, so I consider it imperative to clear the air so there can be no doubt that this is a Republican Recession.Common wisdom holds that the near collapse 0f 2008 snuck up on us, and that nobody saw... more

It pains me to announce the demise of the state of Arizona and its replacement by the Totalitarian Corporate Plutocracy of Brewerstan. It is modeled after the Totalitarian Corporate Plutocracy of Fitzwalkerstan, formerly Wisconsin. There are minor differences. While the chief executive of Fitzwalkerstan is a Fartfuhrer, Scott Walker, Brewerstan is headed by a Death Angel, Jan Brewer, infamous for killing her subjects by defunding their scheduled transplant operations. Here’s the Brewerstan flag and news from Brewerstan from John Nichols. It pains me to announce the demise of the state of Arizona and its replacement by the... more

For the past 3+ years, Republicans have done everything within their power to prevent US economic recovery. The better the economy does, the greater the probability that Obama will be elected to serve a second term as President. Therefore Republicans have blocked almost every attempt Democrats have made to improve the economy, and what they haven’t blocked, they have watered down so much that it was less effective than it otherwise could have been. In spite of that, unemployment has fallen to 8.3% in the best jobs report we have had since Obama took office. For the past 3+ years, Republicans have done everything within their power to prevent... more

Two of the finest whines Republicans have with their cheese are that corporate taxes are too high and that Obama has raised corporate taxes. The more Republicans whine about these things, the more uninformed people believe them. However, these are Republican politicians and pundits, so whenever there are whining, they are also doing something else. They are lying. Two of the finest whines Republicans have with their cheese are that corporate taxes... more

There are few lies Republicans will not tell to demonize the poor, as justification for cutting off the needy to give bigger tax cuts and subsidies to the greedy. Many of those lies are quite absurd, like this one. Those lazy, good for nothing [minority implied] wastrels are cashing their federal benefits and running to the strip club for a lap dance. They are so serious about propagandizing US voters with this BS, that they are actually trying to pass a law to prevent their made-up complaint. There are few lies Republicans will not tell to demonize the poor, as justification... more

In the Florida Primary, there were no surprises. Romney beat Gingrich by a 14% margin, largely because he spent almost ten times what Gingrich spent on advertising. Santorum was a distant third and Ron Paul mattered so little that he could not even pull 10%. Gingrich was such a bad loser that he did not even give Romney the customary phone call congratulating him. Romney won 50 delegates, but that’s more complicated than meets the eye. We’ll go into that. Also, we’ll cover the Important Election...In the Florida Primary, there were no surprises. Romney beat Gingrich by a 14% margin,... more

I don’t need to tell you that Republicans govern exclusively for the benefit of millionaires, billionaires and corporate criminals. They always have excuse for why they should raise YOUR taxes to cut them even more for the one percent. This one is a whopper. They say that the rich should pay less because, otherwise, they will cheat more on their taxes. Really! I’m not kidding! However, like their claims on virtually everything else, Republicans are lying about this too...I don’t need to tell you that Republicans govern exclusively for the benefit of... more

In their ongoing attempt to steal the right to vote from students, workers, the disabled, and minorities, Republicans have been quick to make false allegations of voter fraud, despite conclusive evidence from a DOJ investigation that voter fraud accounts for less than one ten thousandth of one percent, a statistically insignificant amount. South Carolina’s new voter ID law is so draconian that DOJ has blocked it’s implementation on Constitutional grounds. In response SC Republicans are claiming over 900 dead people voted in the recent primary, and trotted out their six best examples. The truth here is almost comical. In their ongoing attempt to steal the right to vote from students, workers, the... more

You might think it bad enough that Republicans choose lies over science in order to claim global climate change dies not exist to generate more profit for criminal corporate polluters. However, they have found a way to make it far worse. They are attempting to mandate indoctrinating our school children with these lies. I bet you can guess which infamous brothers are behind this. You might think it bad enough that Republicans choose lies over science in order to... more

Republicans have claimed that, however right-slanted the media has become, it is liberal and biased against them. In this way, they can deflect as the rare instances, when they are confronted with the truth, as liberal media attacks. Most of the time media are very helpful to Republicans, such as Newt’s John King moment. Here Wolf Blitzer let both Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich off the hook.Republicans have claimed that, however right-slanted the media has become, it is... more

Would you believe that the reason the unemployment rate is so high is that Senate Democrats have obstructed all the many Republican jobs bills that passed the House? If you believe Speaker John Boehner, aka Agent Orange, that’s what has happened. But believing Boehner is a very bad idea, because John Boehner is a liar, and here is the proof that he is lying.Would you believe that the reason the unemployment rate is so high is that Senate... more

The Republicans have met in the state that still flies the Confederate flag and made their choice for their nominee for President. If we can depend on the results, which I do not think we can, then Newt Gingrich won it in a landslide, trouncing Mitt Romney. The SC win was especially valuable for Gingrich, because SC is one of the states that are still winner take all.The Republicans have met in the state that still flies the Confederate flag and made... more

Some say that what a person does at home is private and should not be made a part of political discussions. To an extent I agree, but when that candidate is making his morality a campaign issue and has a history of condemning others over moral issues, it is an issue, not because of the moral lapse, but because of the hypocrisy. Some say that what a person does at home is private and should not be made a part of... more

Barack Obama must have felt like the wishbone from a turkey over the Keystone XL pipeline. Key groups of Democratic supporters are split, labor for and environmentalists against. At one point he had an environmental impact statement saying that it was environmentally safe, but then he learned that the statement had been rigged, and was nothing more than a claim from the pipeline company. So he correctly put the project on hold until an honest environmental impact statement could be prepared. It’s my guess that Republicans knew that an honest impact statement would kill the pipeline, because in return for a two month payroll tax cut extension, they demanded a decision on Keystone XL by next month, before an honest impact statement could be prepared in the hopes of bullying an approval from him. Their tactic did not work and Obama did the right thing.Barack Obama must have felt like the wishbone from a turkey over the Keystone XL... more

When you come right down to it, Republicans are not hard to figure out, if you keep in mind that everything Republicans do is to further one of two key Republican goals. The first is to transfer wealth from the poor and middle classes to millionaires, billionaires and corporate criminals. The second is to establish a permanent, election proof, Republican one-party regime to last for 1,000 years. Republicans keep saying that American voters want to do away with excessive regulation. This lie serves the first goal. American voters do not agree. When you come right down to it, Republicans are not hard to figure out, if you keep in... more
