Householders with an installation date after 3rd March 2012 will receive 21p per kWh for every Kilowatt gnerated from their solar pv installation.
Householders with Solar panel installation commissioned after 1st April 2012 will receive 21p/kWh for every kW generated from their solar panel installation, provided that their home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band D or better. Homes which do not have an EPC Band D or better will get will get a reduced generation tariff rate of 9p/kWh.
Solar installations completed after 1st July 2012 it is proposed that the rate should between 16.5p/kWh – 13.6p/kWh. The exact rate will depend upon the amount of solar PV installed between March and April 2012.
Clear as mud isnt it, basically the quicker you have your PV installed the better.Householders with an installation date after 3rd March 2012 will receive 21p per kWh... more

Andrea Ponti's Luce Laptop may be the greatest and the most fascinating environmental-friendly product that uses the Sun as it source of energy.
Throughout the innumerable attempts to make the solar energy fascinating, Andrea Ponti’s Luce Laptop might be the one that tops it all. As the the first computer that uses the sun rays as a source of energy, it may sound very interesting for a lot of people.Andrea Ponti's Luce Laptop may be the greatest and the most fascinating... more

I won't start with the benefits of solar panels. You already know how they can save you a ton of money on your energy bills, and that it's great for the environment. Otherwise, you wouldn't be looking here! The price of solar panels is much cheaper than it used to be. But that doesn't necessarily make it inexpensive yet! In fact, it is still incredibly expensive - buying retail solar panels costs about $1,125 each panel! At that rate, it would cost nearly $30,000 to install solar panels for your entire house! But did you know you could make your own solar panels, for a mere fraction of the cost it would take to buy solar panels? Why would you pay tens of thousands of dollars for solar energy, when you could build it yourself for a mere fraction of the cost?I won't start with the benefits of solar panels. Bill Gross is nothing if not an enthusiast, which makes him a great salesman for whatever it is he happens to be selling. A lifelong entrepreneur, a longtime evangelist for solar energy and the CEO of eSolar, a Google-funded startup that designs and develops concentrating solar power (CSP) projects at utility scale, Gross is one of the most interesting business people I’ve known.Bill Gross is nothing if not an enthusiast, which makes him a great salesman for... more

Columbus (OH) - Researchers at Ohio State University have accidentally discovered a new solar cell material capable of absorbing all of the sun's visible light energy. The material is comprised of a hybrid of plastics, molybdenum and titanium. The team discovered it not only fluoresces (as most solar cells do), but also phosphoresces. Electrons in a phosphorescent state remain at a place where they can be "siphoned off" as electricity over 7 million times longer than those generated in a fluorescent state. This combination of materials also utilizes the entire visible spectrum of light energy, translating into a theoretical potential of almost 100% efficiency. Commercial products are still years away, but this foundational work may well pave the way for a truly renewable form of clean, global energy.Columbus (OH) - Researchers at Ohio State University have accidentally discovered a... more
