It’s basically the same story as told in D.W. Griffith’s classic (and socially execrable) 1915 film, “Birth of a Nation.” It played well with the conservative crowd. The story of the poor little blond white woman being threatened and harassed by the big bad Black man.
And just like “Birth of a Nation,” Jan Brewer’s story was largely fiction, if slightly less racist. Times were different in 1915. Well, except in the Governor’s mansion it would seem.
But man, did it give her book sales a kick in the keester!

The schoolgirl stunned cops by owning up to a serial killing spree that started when she was a 15-year-old.
She told detectives she wanted to confess before she turned 18 and could be tried as an adult.

An Australian maths teacher has appeared in court over claims she seduced a vulnerable female pupil who was suffering from an eating disorder.
The young girl was just 14 when she attracted the sexual attention of her teacher. What started as a friendship with car rides and sneaky text messages blossomed into a sexual relationship that lead to the eventual arrest of the married teacher.
Now Anna Louise Thompson (28) has appeared in court as a result of the affair she started with the girl in Brisbane in 2003. She is charged with seducing a minor and inappropriate conduct, according to the ‘Courier-Mail’ newspaper.
Police representative Todd Fuller told the court: “They kissed and touched, and pleasured each other with their hands and mouths.” The relationship began with seemingly innocent lunch dates but soon became sexually intense. “They started to experiment with sex toys, lollipops, and wore collars.”
The girl’s parents had no idea what was happening and actually trusted the teacher. Thompson was treated like a member of the family and invited to birthdays and Christmas. She used to stay over at the family home and the girl would often spend weekends at her teacher’s house.
But the couple were found out when the parents discovered them having sex one evening. Their reaction was simply to request that their daughter keep her door open when she had visitors. Thompson’s husband also walked in on the pair when he came home from work earlier than expected one day.
The relationship lasted for three years and ended when the schoolgirl fell in love with a boy. She reported her teacher to the police when she was 16, and the case is still continuing.
