"[Drug traffickers] are as evil an adversary as the voodoo terrorist Taliban our soldiers face in Afghanistan," writes Nugent in a Thursday editorial.
It seems as though self-titled "rock legend" Ted Nugent is no fan of taking a Journey to the Center of the Mind.
The same Nugent who said, during an August 2007 concert, -- as he was holding what appeared to be two assault rifles -- "Obama, he's a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun," seems to have undergone a change of heart.
Instead of death threats, now Nugent wants a job. And not just any job. He's got the Cat Scratch Fever for no less than US Drug Czar.
RAW STORY apologizes for the level of absurdity portions of this story reach. Something tells us that when Obama promised "change that we can believe in," he couldn't have possibly imagined this."[Drug traffickers] are as evil an adversary as the voodoo terrorist Taliban our... more

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, tapped in December by President-elect Barack Obama to serve as secretary of Commerce, has withdrawn his name for the position, citing a pending investigation into a company that has done business with his state.
"Let me say unequivocally that I and my Administration have acted properly in all matters and that this investigation will bear out that fact," he said Sunday in a report by NBC News. "But I have concluded that the ongoing investigation also would have forced an untenable delay in the confirmation process."
He said he plans to continue in his role as governor. "I appreciate the confidence President-elect Obama has shown in me, and value our friendship and working partnership. I told him that I am eager to serve in the future in any way he deems useful. And like all Americans, I pray for his success and the success of our beloved country."
Obama said Sunday he accepted Richardson's decision to withdraw with 'deep regret.'
"Governor Richardson is an outstanding public servant and would have brought to the job of Commerce Secretary and our economic team great insights accumulated through an extraordinary career in federal and state office," Obama said.
Richardson, 61, was United Nations ambassador and energy secretary during the Clinton administration, and he is in his second term as New Mexico's governor. He also served seven terms in the House of Representatives.
If he had been confirmed by the Senate as secretary of Commerce, he would have taken over a sprawling department that oversees the National Weather Service, the Census Bureau, economic development programs and more.
One of the nation's most prominent Hispanic politicians, Richardson had pledged at the time of his nomination — in English and Spanish — to work to renew the economy.New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, tapped in December by President-elect Barack Obama to... more

(CNN) -- Several officials close to President-elect Barack Obama's transition tell CNN that Defense Secretary Robert Gates is expected to stay on the job for at least the first year of the new administration.
One source called it "all but a done deal" that the announcement could come as early as next week.
"It's now pointing in that direction," one of the sources close to the transition said of Gates being part of Obama's national security team, which may include Sen. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.
"It's likely to happen," a second source close to the transition said of Gates staying on.
This source noted that Gates could stay for longer than a year if he and Obama end up working well together.

The Obama transition team is sending a seven-page, 63-item questionnaire to every candidate for Cabinet and other high-ranking positions in the incoming administration.
The questions cover everything from information on family members, Facebook pages, blogs and hired help to links to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, American International Group and troubled banks as well as lawsuits, gifts, resumes, loans and more.
The transition team has about 7,000 positions to fill, according to the U.S. Government Printing Office's Plum Book, the quadrennial list of positions subject to presidential appointment.

President-elect Barack Obama is considering a mix of Washington insiders and high-profile business executives to head Cabinet positions, a source involved in the process told CNN.
Obama has not made any statements on possible Cabinet personnel, but the source said a mix of high-profile names were under consideration.
Obama's transition office said no personnel announcements would be made at a press conference Friday with the president-elect and Vice President-elect Joe Biden.
Obama said he will not address
Cabinet positions, but he will take questions from reporters at the press conference, the first since the election.
For secretary of state, Sen. John Kerry, D-Massachusetts, is high on the list, said the source involved in the process. Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, a former presidential candidate who later endorsed Obama in the Democratic primaries; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson; and former U.N. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke also are interested in the job, the source said. iReport.com: Who should be in Obama's Cabinet?
For defense secretary, indications are the current defense chief, Robert Gates, will stay "for a certain period," the source said. Gates, the former CIA director under President George H.W. Bush, has received bipartisan praise for his leadership at the Pentagon in the last two years. Watch how Obama's inner circle is taking shape »
Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is said to be a "very real possibility" for U.S. attorney general, the source said. Napolitano, a former attorney general in her state, was named earlier this week to the Obama transition

Barring a miracle of epic proportions, less than one week from now the nation will choose Sen. Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. But who will this young Senator choose to serve in his cabinet? His choice for Secretaries of State, Defense and Treasury are key decisions that will shape the “Obama Doctrine” and determine whether he governs as a principled leftist, pragmatic leftist, or centrist. While not a perfect candidate, of the names floated thus far, I believe Republican Senator, Chuck Hagel would make the best Secretary of Defense in an Obama Administration.Barring a miracle of epic proportions, less than one week from now the nation will... more
