Two years after his last critique of the nation’s governing bodies in 2007’s ‘Sicko,’ agitprop documentarian Michael Moore is back with a new movie — and this time, his target is the economy. In a just-released teaser clip for Capitalism: A Love Story, Moore puts on his trademark baseball cap to go after corporate America.
“It’s a crime story,” Michael Moore says of his latest documentary, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “But it’s also a war story about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course, it’s also a love story. Only it’s about an abusive relationship.”
“I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make,” the Michigan native concluded before adding “Oh, and by the way, it’s a comedy.”
The film is already up for the top prize at the Venice Film Festival, which takes place Sept. 2-12 in Venice, Italy.
Moore’s latest will also headline at the Toronto film fest in September.

"[Drug traffickers] are as evil an adversary as the voodoo terrorist Taliban our soldiers face in Afghanistan," writes Nugent in a Thursday editorial.
It seems as though self-titled "rock legend" Ted Nugent is no fan of taking a Journey to the Center of the Mind.
The same Nugent who said, during an August 2007 concert, -- as he was holding what appeared to be two assault rifles -- "Obama, he's a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun," seems to have undergone a change of heart.
Instead of death threats, now Nugent wants a job. And not just any job. He's got the Cat Scratch Fever for no less than US Drug Czar.
RAW STORY apologizes for the level of absurdity portions of this story reach. Something tells us that when Obama promised "change that we can believe in," he couldn't have possibly imagined this."[Drug traffickers] are as evil an adversary as the voodoo terrorist Taliban our... more

"Ball drops" weren't always reserved for New Year's Eve. The idea of lowering a sphere to measure time was first used in Greenwich, England, where a ball descended every afternoon at one o'clock so ship captains could calibrate their navigational tools. The concept eventually made its way to New York City, where it's now used to usher in the New Year in front of thousands of freezing-cold spectators, who wish their only option wasn't a port-a-john.
Key West, Fla.
A conch, a wench and a drag queen
In Key West, eccentricity runs rampant. So it's no wonder that the quirky Key has enough energy to host three separate drops: an enormous fiberglass conch shell, a pirate wench and a drag queen. As the official symbol of the Florida Keys, the conch has been making its descent from the roof of Sloppy Joe's Bar since 1993. (The founder of the bar, incidentally, was the inspiration for Freddy in Hemingway's "To Have and Have Not.") A few blocks away at the Schooner Wharf Bar, co-owner Evalena Worthington dons full pirate maiden attire and drops from the crow's nest of an antique ship. And lastly there's Sushi the drag queen, who brings in the New Year in a six-foot sparkling red, high-heel shoe at the Bourbon St. bar and guesthouse complex.
Havre de Grace, Md.
Wooden Duck
In 1789, Havre de Grace nearly became the nation's capital, losing to Washington D.C. by one vote in a House of Representatives decision; instead the city went on to become the self-proclaimed, Decoy Capital of the World. In the early 20th century duck hunting was all the rage in Havre de Grace and as a result, wooden decoy carving developed into a local folk art. To honor both the tradition and the New Year, in 2000, the city started dropping a giant plywood duck. The current bird -- carved by local resident Jean Hiss -- is roughly 10- by 15-feet, has lights arranged to look like feathers and is dropped from a towering fire truck ladder. And to liven up the celebration locals bring their own noisemakers: duck calls.
Tallapoosa, Ga.
Opossum
Tallapoosa was originally named Possum Snout after a Creek Indian Chief. When the region officially became a city in 1860 the name was changed to its current, more dignified moniker, an Indian word for "Golden River." But since you can't drop a Tallapoosa, the city chose to drop an opossum on New Year's Eve instead. No need to alert PETA - though once a living, breathing critter, the marsupial is no longer with us; he lives on thanks to local taxidermy and museum curator Bud Jones. In addition to the drop, expect live entertainment, food venders and fireworks, all followed by a "Possum Snout Breakfast," which I hope isn't what it sounds like.
Hershey, Pa.
Hershey Kiss
Hershey(Hershey : Courtesy Hershey New Year’s)
Hershey Pa. celebrates the New Year with a kiss.
It's only appropriate that the country's best known chocolate town drops an over-sized homage to cocoa on New Year's Eve. Specifically a seven-foot tall, Hershey's Kiss made out of aluminum.
The event was founded by Mike Pries, Chairman, Derry Township Board of Supervisors and takes place on the corner of Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues. Seriously. The event draws over 10,000 people every year and includes live bands, fireworks, dancing groups and most excitingly, the Hershey Kissmobile.

BUCHAREST, Romania - A court has ordered a Romanian surgeon to pay $795,000 in compensation to a patient whose penis he accidentally severed during an operation.
In July 2004, Dr. Naum Ciomu made a surgical error while operating on the man's testicles, severing the penis instead of making an incision to the testicle.
The Bucharest Magistrates Court ruled Friday that Ciomu had been "superficial" in his approach to the operation, ordered the fine and handed Ciomu a one-year suspended prison sentence. The ruling can be appealed.

A piece of muscle from the man's arm has now been attached to where his penis was, but its function is aesthetic.
"You don't have to be an expert to realize that the 33-year-old victim does not have a good state of mind," said Mihai Olariu, the victim's lawyer.BUCHAREST, Romania - A court has ordered a Romanian surgeon to pay $795,000 in... more

ORLANDO, Fla. - Skeletal remains found in the woods are the Florida 3-year-old who has been missing since June, but they don’t reveal any clues about how she was killed, a county medical examiner said Friday.
A utility worker stumbled upon the remains last week, less than a half-mile from where the girl lived. DNA tests confirm that the remains match Caylee Anthony’s genetic profile, said the medical examiner, Dr. Jan Garavaglia.
Caylee’s mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was indicted in October on first-degree murder and other charges, even though no body was found. She has insisted that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn’t report her missing until July.
A search team said they did not check the wooded area sooner because it was submerged in water. Beary said his department was investigating reports that the utility worker who called in the tip leading to the discovery of the remains had tried several times in August to call in his suspicion about a bag in the area.ORLANDO, Fla. - Skeletal remains found in the woods are the Florida 3-year-old who has... more

LUBBOCK, Texas – Sammy Baugh, who set numerous passing records with the Washington Redskins in an era when NFL teams were running most every down, died Wednesday night, his son said. Baugh, who was 94 and had numerous health issues, died at Fisher County Hospital in Rotan, David Baugh said. David Baugh said his father had battled Alzheimer's and dementia for several years. He had been ill recently with kidney problems, low blood pressure and double pneumonia.
When Baugh entered the NFL, the forward pass was so rare that it was unveiled mostly in desperate situations. But Baugh passed any time.
As a rookie in 1937, Baugh completed a record 81 passes (about seven a game) and led the league with 1,127 yards. At the time, only six passers averaged three completions a game that year. He went on to lead the league in passing six times.
Baugh still holds Redskins records for career touchdown passes (187) and completion percentage in a season (70.3). His 31 interceptions on defense are third on the team's career list. He still owns the league mark for single-season punting average (51.4).
While he was noted for his passing, Baugh was one of the best all-around players of his day. One season he led the league in passing, defensive interceptions and punting. In one game, he threw four touchdown passes and intercepted four passes. He threw six touchdowns in a game — twice — and kicked an 85-yard punt.

Anxious to jolt the economy back to life, President-elect Barack Obama is considering a federal stimulus package that could reach a whopping $1 trillion, dwarfing last spring's tax rebates and rivaling drastic government actions to fight the Great Depression.
Obama is promoting a recovery plan that would feature spending on roads and other infrastructure projects, energy-efficient government buildings, new and renovated schools and environmentally friendly technologies.

The same convenience store in Hendricks County sold two $1 million lottery tickets -- probably within a few days last week.
With more than 4,000 retailers of the scratch-off and online games, Hoosier Lottery officials said, it is pretty rare, if not unique, for lightning to strike twice at the same place -- the Plainfield Dairyland on Main Street -- in such a short time.
Lottery officials confirmed Tuesday that a $1 million jackpot ticket sold at the store matched the winning six numbers drawn Saturday in the Hoosier Lotto online game. The numbers were: 2, 14, 31, 32, 35 and 48.
That Hoosier Lotto ticket probably was sold Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The winner has not yet claimed the prize.
The second million-dollar winner at Dairyland for the weekend was a Cash Blizzard scratch-off ticket sold Saturday.
John Hensley, 30, and fiancee Vanessa Mitchell, 28, already have been to the lottery headquarters in Indianapolis to claim the prize, an after-tax payout of $36,000 per year for 20 years. The same convenience store in Hendricks County sold two $1 million lottery tickets --... more

A woman who had suffered severe facial trauma got essentially a whole new face in a first-of-its-kind operation at the Cleveland Clinic, hospital officials said Wednesday.
Only the woman’s upper eyelids, forehead, lower lip and chin were left — the other 80 percent of her face was replaced with one donated from a female cadaver during the 22-hour surgery about two weeks ago.
The patient’s name and age were not released, nor details on how she was injured. Her injuries were so horrific that she lacked a nose and palate, and could not eat or breathe on her own without a special opening into her windpipe.
After the transplant, “I must tell you how happy she was when with both her hands she could go over her face and feel that she has a nose, feel that she has a jaw,” said the lead surgeon, Dr. Maria Siemionow.
This transplant being the First of it's kind could open the door to other severely injured patients.

Steven Spielberg's charitable foundation fell victim to the mammoth 50-billion-dollar fraud allegedly carried out by Wall Street heavyweight Bernard Madoff
The newspaper reported that about 70 percent of the dividend income and interest for the foundation had been handled by Madoff's securities firm, which is now the subject of one of the biggest fraud investigations in history
Madoff was arrested last week and allegedly confessed to defrauding investors of 50 billion dollars in a scam that collapsed after clients asked for their money back due to the global financial crisis.
US authorities allege that Madoff delivered consistently strong returns to clients by secretly using the principal investment from new investors for payments to other investors in what is known as a "pyramid fraud."

SCARED elves at a grotty Christmas grotto have been pulled out after Santa and three of his little helpers were attacked by angry parents.
Twenty-five staff were told by their temping agency to quit Lapland New Forest, while a gate worker fled after being assaulted.
The park has been blasted for charging a “rip-off” £30 entrance fee – despite being branded a “glorified car-boot sale” in a muddy field.
One dad was so angry at queuing for four hours he thumped Father Christmas. Three elves and three security guards were also attacked in other incidents. A snowman was so sickened at verbal abuse he suffered that he stormed off in full costume.
Horrified staff also told how two dads brawled in the Gingerbread House over the last spoonful of ICING SUGAR. And kids sobbed after catching Santa behind his grotto with his beard off having a cigarette.
Recruitment agency Richards Events advised the 25 workers they supplied to quit. Managing director Sue Holzher said: “We can’t expect our staff to take constant abuse and do not want to put their safety at risk.”
Former gate worker Adrian Wood, 49, said Santa refused to let kiddies sit on his knee and charged an extra tenner for parents to take a photo.
He said: “The final straw for one dad came when after four hours he was told he would have to join another queue for his child to get a present – so he marched up and punched Santa on the chin.”SCARED elves at a grotty Christmas grotto have been pulled out after Santa and three... more

This is my second vidcast and about now there's a Black President, wouldn't it be cool to see a Black James Bond.
When i watch UK Television, there is a massive lack of representation on the screen.
For American teens and young adults seeing is believing. And seeing actors in and on screen talents as doctors (House's Omar Epps), lawyers, Police Chiefs (Every American cop film i can think of has a black officer, even in the FBI etc) it all feeds a belief that any role is achievable.
In the UK, because of this massive lack of representation in the media in active roles, young people don't feel valued in society, especially if your from an ethnic minorityThis is my second vidcast and about now there's a Black President, wouldn't... more
