Antigay former U.S. senator Rick Santorum, a potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate, has found that the use of his name in connection with anal sex is a hyperlink that’s hard to break, Roll Call reports.
In 2003 sex-advice columnist Dan Savage was seeking to mock Santorum for his homophobic statements, such as remarks he made in an interview that year to the effect that legalization of gay sex could lead to recognition of “man on child” and “man on dog” relationships. Savage held a competition asking his readers to come up with a new definition for “Santorum,” and the winning entry referred to a by-product of anal intercourse. Now a Google search for “Santorum” will frequently turn up that meaning of the word.
Roll Call consulted technology experts, who said there was little Santorum could do to prevent Web searches from finding sites with that definition. The politician himself “sounded slightly defeated” when asked about his “Google problem” recently, the publication reported. “It’s one guy,” Santorum told Roll Call. “You know who it is. The Internet allows for this type of vulgarity to circulate. It’s unfortunate that we have someone who obviously has some issues. But he has an opportunity to speak.”
Santorum added, however, that the phenomenon is an indication of “incivility” in politics. “You want to talk about incivility,” he said. “I don’t know of anybody on the left who came to my defense for the incivility with respect to those things.”
In response to Santorum’s statements, Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund spokesman Dennis Dison told Roll Call, “I think that civility in politics is a fantastic goal. ... Speaking from the LGBT community, we wish he would practice it.”Antigay former U.S. senator Rick Santorum, a potential 2012 Republican presidential... more

In honor of LGBT Pride month, Bryan Safi celebrates the mother of all invention: gay men who want to get laid. From bandannas to toe-tapping to Manhunt to Grindr, if there's a way to find other ready and willing dudes, gay men have made the technology to seal the deal even faster.

I’d like to preface this post by noting that I am not easily offended.
I grew up in a tattoo shop — not because my parents were getting sleeves and forgot me but because of my stepfather’s career choice.
Take a moment and think of a type of tattoo. Any type — from butterfly to swastika to Satan vomiting Jesus — and think of the potential locale for said tattoo, from chest to breast to inner-lip. Consider the types of people who might get those tattoos — and I’ve seen them, first hand, from age 3. Even the Jesus one.
Up close, personal, from the seat of a Harley: I’ve seen it.
Now I have nothing against tattoos or the people that get them. I have three (which is four more than I swore I’d ever get) and my stepdad’s tattoo shop helped pay for my college experience.
It also taught me from a very early age that there are as many types of people in this world as there are tattoos, words really are just words, and AOL and Skinemax baby-sit for free. You probably can’t offend me.
Annoying me, however, is another story entirely.
An (obviously closeted) co-worker of mine recently saw a picture of my boyfriend, which sits atop my desk just like a picture of any mid-20s guy or gal’s significant other might. It’s there to help me get through my tedious work day. And I like looking at him.
Now, this co-worker, not a work-friend or even a break-room buddy, saw the picture and immediately began commenting on how good-looking my boyfriend was.
Well, thanks! That’s fine. I know he is. It’s been six years, and attraction was clearly a part of the equation.
But something inside of him (though obviously not what he wants) told him that it was okay to keep going. I’d always wanted to know what he’d do to and with my boyfriend if he “weren’t straight,” so it was very informative, and it definitely got me thinking.

Gay? Live in India? Trying to get some sex?
If so,
you are risking up to TEN years in prison for what authorities call an "Unnatural Offense".
THAT IS UNTIL -
a recent ruling, which the Delhi High Court affirmed that claim, saying that Section 377 violated basic human rights. The same court, however, had dismissed a similar petition in 2001. It is clear that this latest ruling is a reflection of increased activism by gay rights groups and high profiled supporters like Bollywood actress and Former Miss World Celina Jaitley, along with a more progressive government.
Hot on the heels of gay pride parades in Delhi and Bangalore, which saw the Indian homosexual community and its supporters out in full force and color, this victory gives activists one more reason to celebrate. They were seen on the streets of the capital this morning, distributing sweets and smearing each other with vermillion, the traditional way to mark an auspicious occasion.
"We have finally entered into the 21st Century", claimed Anjali Gopalan, head of the Naz Foundation: a foundation which aimed to sensitize the community to the prevalence of HIV, as well as highlight issues related to Sexuality and Sexual Health. . .

There are just way too many clichés designed to discourage experimentation with your life, your identity and your habits.
When you're young, whatever you feel like doing is not really what you feel like doing. It's described by others as just a phase. When you're older, anytime you try something new, it's a trend. Then you're going through teenage rebellion. Then you're finding yourself. When you're older still, you're not trying to enjoy life's infinite variety, you're going through a mid-life crisis.
Can't someone just do something new because they feel like it and not have it categorized like a mental illness? Isn't it okay if something is a passing phase, why are the above clichés packed with such scornful judgment?

Gay Pride? or Shame!? Our take on the Glorious Annual Celebration of Exploitation, Manipulation, Deception and Intimidation provided to serve Manchester's LGBT Community.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Young People have been speaking out in response to an increase in wristband prices, charges for small groups to enter the parade and have a stall, a "youth space" that you have to pay to get in which only last 2 hours that's if you can beat the queues... and then all the respect we've had (not!) from bullies charged with running run Manchester's Pride Festival in 2008... and it certainly didn't go unnoticed!
Watch our short documentary film that's really getting under the skin of pride, exposing corporate greed and authoritarian censorship at it's worst and most appalling, ripping off the people it's designed to empower.
This film is dedicated with much love and respect to Manchester Pride's Festival Director "Yeah" Jackie Crozier. We love you Jackie, much love to you and all your friends and associates!
See you at Manchester Pride 2009 - when we will be in the parade and once again, not afraid to speak out however hard you try to stop us.
Don't forget to get your Manchester Pride tickets... we can sell you some for just ten pence! apparently that's all their (we're worth).Gay Pride? or Shame!? Our take on the Glorious Annual Celebration of Exploitation,... more

After a controversial new report was been leaked by the Deputy Chief Constable of Lancashire Police Michael Cunningham to Police Review magazine. Several Police forces across England have now stopped their practice of arresting gay men and heterosexual couples who have sex in public. It is believed Greater Manchester Police is the first with Merseyside following suit.
Gay Rights Groups such as OutRage! and campaigners such as Peter Tatchell have long argued that police actions against gay men who meet for sex in public are homophobic and vilify the entire gay community for what is a largely unpolicable offense.
In the 21 page secret document he calls for his own and fellow police forces to stop their current crackdown on sex in public places, in particular the arrest of gay men who he claimed. "police actions at toilets and cruising grounds had alienated gay men". and as a result "Acts of suicide and self-harm by persons who may have been arrested, charged or come into contact with the police in such a situation have happened in various parts of the country," he said.
"It is not for the police to take the role of moral arbiter, the police role is to ensure that any complaints are dealt with fairly and professionally and that where individuals are engaged in lawful activity they may do so safely. "The impact of enforcement can also be severe and rarely resolves the community problems associated with the existence of a public sex environment.
"This impact can be extreme and can include humiliation, breakdown of relationships and the 'outing' of men living in an opposite sex relationship being perceived as 'gay.'"After a controversial new report was been leaked by the Deputy Chief Constable of... more
