Tim Burton's take on the gothic soap opera first airing from 1966-1971, Dark Shadows, hits theaters today. Starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Grace Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, and Jackie Earle Haley, Dark Shadows has a bit too much ridiculous humor injected into it for its own good.http://www.examiner.com/review/movie-review-dark-shadows-1

Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox give the royal treatment to "The King's Speech," the Oscar-baiting film starring Colin Firth as England's King George VI, who must overcome a severe stutter to help rally his nation as World War II looms. Helena Bonham Carter plays George's wife Elizabeth (the mother of the current Queen) while Geoffrey Rush is the unorthodox Australian speech therapist who works with the king. If you somehow need any more reasons to click, this exclusive review also includes a rare (proper) use of "insouciant." How very posh!
Rotten Tomatoes is a recurring segment dedicated to the movies. Join hosts Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox as they judge the freshness of studio blockbusters and independent hits. “The King’s Speech” is the address with which the reigning British monarch opens parliament each year. In the case of this wonderful film, however, the title has a double meaning.
It is a biopic about a young Duke of York, the man who would ascend to the throne of Great Britain as George VI, who spoke with a stutter, and how he overcame it.

The Harry Potter books and films are monumental achievements, and while the review that follows is ostensibly about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1),” it is difficult (verging on impossible) to separate this part from the whole.
To begin, the books were -- you should pardon the expression -- magical, in that they captivated a generation of young people and made them (and their parents) read. Books. In print.
Then came the films. In every case, the adaptations were both excellent and faithful. More amazing, perhaps, is that the filmmakers were able to forge an ensemble of actors who stuck with the project for an entire decade -- always wearing undergarments in public, never imbibing in excess while in view of TMZ cameras and generally avoiding ego trips. The focus always remained firmly on the story, not the actors.
