Multi-platinium artists, The Fray on Live from The Artists Den
Airs February 10, 2012 – Check Local Listings
On an early Autumn night, the Angel Orensanz Center, a magnificent landmark in the heart of New York City’s Lower East Side, hosted a stunning performance by multi-platinum rockers The Fray. The Denver-based band played 15 songs, a mix of such fan favorites as the Top Ten hits “How to Save a Life,” “Over My Head,” and “You Found Me” alongside new material from the forthcoming album Scars and Stories, including the current hit single, “Heartbeat.” The show marked the first time some of these songs were ever played on stage, and concluded with a powerful version of the brand-new ballad “Be Still,” performed solo at the piano by singer Isaac Slade.

Here's where it started.
Our awesome music licensing coordinator, Jen Pray (yes, she of the John Hughes greatest hits of a generation dressing down of our then-intern) let loose with a little rant on Twitter:
@prennyjay: Dear Trailer Houses, Promo Depts, Music Supers, Directors, & Producers: STOP USING BEP "I GOTTA FEELING."
(Watch one example above from the Oprah Winfrey Show. Ironically, this is an embeddable clip, but none the BEP's actual video of this song is not.)
I retweeted at @current_music, asking for what else you'd plead to never again be licensed to anything because if you once loved it you've now lost all respect. Your responses were too good to truncate in mere 140-character bites, so here they are in their entirety:
@terabyte240 @current_music YES - I realize MJ was probably up to his ears in debt, but knock it off with the Beatles' "Come Together". Gonna scream.
@hennepinhaiku @current_music: No MGMT/no Juno Soundtrack pieces/Kid Cudi's tired.
@meganwest @current_music half of Kasabian's first album.
@pseudopseudo @current_music Iggy Pop - "Lust For Life". Not really on *everything*, but on enough stuff that I die a little inside when I hear it.
@NTChaddius @current_music Some have been trying to bring back the "Requiem for a Tower" mix with a slightly different beat... we're not fooled
@WhiteGoodman @current_music New Radicals "You Get What you Give." Anything by Smash Mouth.
@Ellovater @current_music the fray's "you found me" Makes me want to write "you lost me"
@sarahindie @current_music The Turtles' "Happy Together." I used to love that song. Now it brings up memories of dancing bagels and cream cheese, etc.
@kid_amy @current_music ugh, I just heard Digable Planets "Rebirth of Slick" for a Tide commercial yesterday! and also New Order's "Ceremony" I like those songs, just found it appalling they were being used in commercials :(
@lexicaljewel @current_music Blur - Song 2. Good god.
@stephenbarros verve- bittersweet symphony ..ugh!Here's where it started.

We've got a fun game in the Coldplay-Off today. (4) Mitch Benn is back with another song about Coldplay. Last round he won with his hit single "Everyone Sounds Like Coldplay Now."
This time he's back with the update. "Now Coldplay Sound Like Everyone Else." He takes about 45 seconds to intro the song, but you'll enjoy it.
As for the Fray, well, you're on your own with that one. Vote below for the artist(s) you think have been influenced by Coldplay the most.We've got a fun game in the Coldplay-Off today. (4) Mitch Benn is back with... more

We’ve got some big names in today’s game in the Bands that Ripped Off Coldplay Division. It’s (5) Kings of Leon vs (12) the Fray. Granted, the Kings of Leon didn’t start out as a band that sounds like Coldplay, but on their last album they made some changes. Granted they were probably trying to sound more like U2, but when you shoot for U2 and come up a little short, it just sounds like Coldplay. As for the Fray, well, I’ll let you tell me what’s wrong with the Fray.
Vote below in the comment section, and the group that gets the most votes will move onto the next roundWe’ve got some big names in today’s game in the Bands that Ripped Off... more
