Flying a plane when you've got no hands? For one woman, it's just a bit of h-armless fun!
Jessica Cox doesn’t let her disability prevent her from achieving what she wants – the 25-year-old from Tucson, Arizona has become the first person without arms to control a plane and has just been awarded her pilot’s licence.
The ‘Able Flight’ organisation, which helps disabled people gain self-confidence through flying, enabled Jessica’s hopes of taking to the skies take off.
It took three years for the American to gain her licence – her teacher Parrish Traweek taught her how to use the controls of the Ercoupe 415 plane with her feet!
Her best flight so far was her examination to get her licence at the end of October: “When we got up into the air, the wind blew and there was a bit of turbulence, but I came through it well.” She was also praised for her landing by her flying coach.
