This new version raises a couple of questions. Most important, of course, is whatever happened to Harry Hamlin? “Clash of the Titans.” “LA Law.” People magazine’s sexiest man alive cover boy. ‘Clash of the Titans’ review: Louis Leterrier’s film can’t overcome mythic stupidity
NY Daily News Joe Neumaier
Friday, April 2nd 2010
The 3-D technology tacked onto “Clash of the Titans” is like the coins put on the eyes of the dead for Charon, the Stygian ferryman. It’s bribery to accept a lifeless lump.

A remake of a cheesy but fun 1981 flick – notable for its Olympian gods played by acting nobility (Laurence Olivier as Zeus, Maggie Smith as Thetis, Claire Bloom as Hera, and, well, Ursula Andress as Aphrodite) and for the herky-jerky magic of F/X wizard Ray Harryhausen – this new adventure sees itself as “Lord of the Rings” redux but is more like a Halloween parade underwritten by BAM.‘Clash of the Titans’ review: Louis Leterrier’s film can’t... more

The spirit of the new 3D version of “Clash of the Titans” lies somewhere between the muscular brio of “Gladiator” and the grande fromage of earlier film attempts at faux classical mythology. Keeping things loud, fast and busy seems to be the tactic of director Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk,” “Transporter 2”), and it serves this material well.
Dialogue is spare and to the point, with just an occasional bit of heated jawboning between Zeus (Liam Neeson) and bad boy brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes). There are the requisite humongous scorpions; a creamy complexioned, semi-immortal love interest (Gemma Arterton); Pegasus, the flying stallion; and a rather foxy Medusa, who seemed to be sporting a thong on her reptilian hind parts, if I’m not mistaken.
Front and center though, carrying the torch for Team Mankind -- though he’s technically a demigod -- is Perseus (Sam Worthington). Hunky, proud and working his brooding, downcast gaze for all it’s worth, he’s a prodigal son with a daunting mission. The spirit of the new 3D version of “Clash of the Titans” lies somewhere... more
