STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Israel's ambassador to Sweden has become the latest public figure to be targeted by a shoe-throwing protester.
Police said Ambassador Benny Dagan was hit on the leg by the shoe, one of several projectiles thrown when he turned up to address a student gathering at Stockholm University this week.
Sjolander said the ambassador had been interviewed by police and that he had been struck by the shoe. "Yes, on the leg," she said, adding that books had been thrown as well.
Dagan himself and officials at the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm could not be reached for comment.

A protester who threw a shoe at Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier, during a speech at Britain's Cambridge University, has been charged.
The shoe landed on the stage about a metre from Wen on Monday - the final day of his three-day visit to Britain.
He had been making a speech on the state of the global economy.
"Following an incident in the auditorium during the premier's speech earlier today, a man has been charged with a public order offence," a police spokeswoman said on Monday.
"The 27-year-old man has been charged with section four of the Public Order Act and will appear at Cambridge magistrates court on Tuesday, February 10."
The protester, who was held by university security guards, shouted: "How can the university prostrate itself with this dictator?"

A sculpture of a shoe erected in Iraq to honour a journalist who threw his footwear at George W Bush has been dismantled, reports say.
Foreign media say the bronze-coloured fibre-glass shoe was removed from its site in the city of Tikrit on the orders of the local authorities.
It had been erected in the grounds of an orphanage.
The monument was reportedly taken down just a day after being unveiled in the late Saddam Hussein's home town.
The head of the Childhood organisation, which owns the orphanage, said she had been told to remove the monument immediately by the Salaheddin Provincial Joint Coordination Centre.A sculpture of a shoe erected in Iraq to honour a journalist who threw his footwear at... more

Witnesses claim Iraqi journalist Afif Sarhan was tortured following his arrest for throwing his shoes at Bush. His eye is badly damaged and may be lost. He also likely has broken ribs. No one has seen him publicly since his arrest.
Sarhan has quickly become a folk hero to many in the Muslim and Arab world. Protests continued yesterday for his release from prison.
"One police officer, who accompanied him to prison, said the journalist, a Baghdad correspondent for the Cairo-based Al-Baghdadia TV, had been subjected to violence throughout the journey. The officer, who asked not to be named, said he witnessed security forces beating Zaidi in the car with such force that his ribs were broken. "I felt sorry when I saw them beating him. His mouth was badly injured and he did not utter a single word throughout until one of the guards hit him in his left eye with a gun. Then he cried out that he couldn't see, and I saw blood inside his eye. I am a police officer but even I have to say I felt proud of what he did."
Safran's family has been denied access to him.
